My theory is that future Mistborn Trilogy will have some cyberpunk. Feruchemical implants! Imagine the possibilities!

Emphasis mine.

I thought of a way to intercept spanreed messages, but it requires approaching the target. You have to put additional gemstone in one of the spanreeds, thus linking it to yours. Basically one of their spanreeds is now linked to two others. Unless they dissect the spanreed they won't find out. And it's untraceable.

The thing is... there was this Event few years ago where all the mages disappeared from the face of the Earth. They initiated new Generation (Gen0 I call them) but the Gen0 know only pretty basic stuff. Like if Allomancers were given a bag of metals and told that if they swallow it they would get powers. And then the new Allomancers would have to figure out metal compositions, base-alloy rule, Pushing-Pulling, external-internal, bronze pulses on their own... So the "belief and collective unconsciousness" is an in-universe theory, but not necessarily is it completely correct. They have some proof, but as the creator I'm still not sure whether it is the premise of the magic or not. Maybe I would leave it to be vague. I also worry that if I go with that I'd have to use it more often and explain why there aren't random ghost sightings on the 1st of September (spoiler for clearness) It carries a lot of emotional charge and is integral part of the culture. There is also a mage descending from both vampires and werewolves (or another two inhuman races, haven't decided yet). He's a mage, so he can pick the abilities he wants to use at the time, but still gets the "full moon effect". It's psychological/cultural thing, not a supernatural one (his subconsciousness is convinced that full moon should have effect on him. Magic works by imposing your will on reality. Do the math.). Once he gets over it, it won't have much effect on him. If I incorporate "magic calendar" thing then full moon will have to have effect on him, no matter whether he is convinced it should or not. Ah, the joys of a writer.

Random Stuff VII: The Admins Awaken

A true Sharder: making noodles inspires to think about magic BTW, the Blade doesn't have to be Obsidian, it's already Invested enough to be very hard to be Pushed. -
Various reasons. I live in Poland. I buy one copy of a book (so ebook OR physical copy. I don't see why I should spend money twice on the same thing and I prefer physical books). Shipping from USA or UK is storming expensive. While I could read in English, my mother can't. So I wait for release of translated version. It will be out on 27th April. Secret History? Who knows. Until then (and some point in the future when I read MSH) being on the Shard is like moving through a familiar area where some of the passers-by plant mines. Some are nice enough to put a flag with a warning and some forget (or don't care) and plant them whenever they like. Life is tough.

*hijacking another Allomantic Signature's thread* So, any ideas how the copper works? it produces a silencing field which silences all Allomantic impulses (including its own). I don't know how to produce a wave complementary to multiple others to perfectly silence them. And I have thought hard. Maybe it's another mechanism. It can be pierced with more bronze power. This is strange, as bronze doesn't actually do anything external, just makes you able to hear the pulses There was also this topic when we discussed "greater metals" Allomantic pattern.

IIRC Vin saw not only TLR's Malatium Shadow but also Kar's.

Oh yeah, I was to do things here. I'm brewing up a How-it-works Feruchemy guide. Shame I can't read BoM.

If you took all the water on Earth and put it into a tube with radius 1 cm, it's length would be so storming high that I don't even. #retellingsOfOldJokes -
Ruin is not good at future sight since Preservation outplayed him by setting things in motion thousands of years ago. However, maybe the fact that Ruin is the embodiment of enthropy (passage of time is important here) may be a factor of why Allomantic atium and Feruchemical atium work the way they do.

theory Voidbringers, the Knights Radiant, and Gavilar
Oversleep replied to DrakeMarshall's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Sons of Honor wanted the return of Voidbringers because it meant that Heralds come back. There is a correlation, but you got causation wrong - spren anticipate Desolation, so they start bonding with humans (according to Taravangian). It is implied that when a Herald breaks under torture, Heralds are sent to Roshar and Desolation follows. Unfortunately we know next to nothing about the exact mechanism of Desolations. The fact that The Last Desolation and Everstorm are different from the previous ones doesn't help. You may want to check this topic.- 47 replies

You probably remember my ideas for the story (magic is basically reality warping fueled by belief of normal people...more or less.) I had the idea of a Christmass/winter story when my heroes are hunting the cult trying to summon/resurrect some ancient spirit on the Winter Solstice (because it was a holiday before christianity); the story would be doubled with the Christmass atmosphere plot, showing the duality of the lives the heroes lead and how they manage to balance it. As yesterday was the Leap Day, it got me thinking: what if certain days (which have some significance in human culture) had impact on the magic beings: for example, solstices, full moons, eclipses, carnival...Leap Day... you know the stuff. What do you say?

I know we Sanderfans like to look for hints everywhere... but sometimes a word is just a word. Not every "cultivation" is "Cultivation". Sometimes people get stabbed through the heart and it doesn't have to be Hemalurgy. I know, I'm Ruining it.
-
Let's start with an easier question: what lerasium and its alloys do in Feruchemy?
-
I heard Sanderson derived "Jasnah" from Bulgar word (which is very close to the word in our language). So if it's true he intentionally named her that way, although I don't think it was done just to troll Slavic readers

Random Stuff VII: The Admins Awaken
Oversleep replied to Young Bard's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Why is it that I have the sudden increases in creativity and become inspired when I really, really should be doing something else? I have to get up for classes in an hour and I'm still figuring out wires and cables so obviously I got ideas for the story I'm developing (I don't really know how are thought and talking done in English books but I hope I got it right) -
What Brandon Means (WBM): The connection is that they're part of cosmere. Or are the same thing. Or something. Basically a RAFO She's alive in his memo... Whoops. She's undead. I'd say she's a Hoed but Hoed are no more. I know! She's Returned! EDIT: Rank: 333 Stormwarden, posts: 777

But if Radiants were making Desolations worse (more voidspren) then they would have had this influence even before Aharietam. So after a few Desolations after Surgebinders came to be Herlads return to Roshar with that knowledge and forbid bonding spren. "Then the emergence of Radiants would be inconsequential because there would be increase in Voidbringers as well. But there is no evidence that Radiants had no impact and there is some evidence that Knights Radiant were helpful in battling Desolations. They wouldn't be helpful if number of enemies growed to match them. Besides, rise from 10 Surgebinders to thousands of them would strenghten Desolations several hundred times. They did grow worse, but that worse? I don't think so."

Random Stuff VII: The Admins Awaken
Oversleep replied to Young Bard's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
I just recently thought about how Heralds meet with the hundreds of the Knights of their respective Orders, give advice, listen to the problems they face and offer solutions, tell the tricks one can do with these Surges and so on... while Ishar meets his Bondsmith(s) and is like "So, you doing good? What were the previous Bondsmiths doing? You don't know? Why? Oh, the previous ones died before you met them?" *checks the time* "Ok, the other Heralds will be checking the Knights for at least an hour, wanna play cards?"
