  1. Welcome to the forums! Watch out for spikes... The admins can't be trusted are wonderful people, and we are devoted to them. The Spikocracy is eternal!
  2. Alright, that was pretty awesome.... link Incredibly funny, though I am a little sad we didn't see a little Allomancy. That said, I love Kell! I prolly shouldn't have read this in school, I am pretty sure my rampant giggling into my book/phoneshield looked a little odd.
  3. I think all books can probably look like that if you break it down enough. I started reading Game of Thrones this year, but like Brandon, I felt there was a little too much... distasteful subject matter. That said, many of my friends have read and enjoyed the books, so even though when put in a big list it all seems silly, in context it is prolly pretty good. GRRM is known for having really compelling characters, so... Yeah. Hmmm... Break down of mistborn: eat metal and gain magic powers
  4. Dunno about warbreaker, but as for Elantris there are a lot of aons we don't know yet. It could be a multiple of 16... and if you throw in the god metals you can make more sets of 16 in allomancy, so the theory *could* fit, there is just no way of proving it right/wrong using elantris until we know the real number of aons.
  5. We will definitely find out Brandons take on it tomorrow. Even if Kell didn't win the coin toss, if emotional allomancy is effective on Moraine, he will put it in just to make an interesting fight. Probably.
  6. I'm still working on the Atomic Array one (I know, I'm being slow, I'll finish after church today). I just started at 58 minutes, where the interview with Brandon actually starts. Do you want me to go back and listen to the bits with the game designer etc. to see if anything important is in there? And are there bits of the actual interview we don't care abot (for example when he talks about how he first got into role playing)?
  7. The best canon example of mass-soothing we have is prolly TLR in mistborn 1. He Soothes the crap out of everyone to the point where there is no hope-Kell and Vin have to riot their little group. That, on a battlefield? Heck YES that'd be effective!
  8. Hey there, Jonathon- always great to have a new man on board (or boards. Whichever ) Anyway, welcome. Watch out for the admins, they have spikes!
  9. Hey does anyone know if The Rithmatist is still on for publication this year? I remember reading somewhere a while back that Tor would be releasing it in 2012 after AMoL... but AMoL is supposed to be 2013 now. So is Rithmatist still coming out in 2012?
  10. I went to a signing he did in Houston for AoL, ha said then that stormlight 2 would probably be out sometime in 2013. I don't think we'll have to wait until 2014, he is going to go straight into it after WoT is finished. Also, it is 2 books every three years, so if book two comes out in 2013 then *mathing* the last one would be out in either 2025 or 2026. Still, though... WoW The distance between the release of book 1 and book 10 will be almost as long as I have been alive, not to mention I think I heard somewhere he might take a break between the two arcs of five. BY the way, welcome to the forum! Great to have you, watch out for spikes!
  11. ... I guess that works *shrug*
  12. I like.
  13. What the heck?! [whine] When I joined I didn't get a welcome waffle or a cookie[/whine] lol
  14. Yeah, I have to get up at 5:45 (okay it is usually more like 5:55 ) and stay up until around 23:30 or 0:00 every night... Of course that is mostly because I am a moron who apparently enjoys punishing herself. At least I can blame myself and promise that THIS week I'll be better... not. I feel for you... I'd hate having to go through that without another choice!
  15. I doubt it... He said at both the Houston AoL signing and the reading at LTUE he would be heading straight into Stormlight. If something else does get written, it prolly wouldn't be a priority. *shrug* Really wishing I'd recorded the reading now Or that I'd been active on here back in early February.
  16. Besides, if it were an Elantrian vs. a channel, it *has* to happen on Sel. The magic system is dependent on being close to Elantris, isn't it? I'd say the risk of a channeler messing with the terrain is much lower than the surety of being unable to access AonDor because you weren't anywhere near the city...
  17. this thread comes to mind
  18. Metalminds are made out of metal too, but Ruin could change what was stored in them I think hard drives are more akin to metalminds than words inscribed on steel plates...
  19. That's true... depending on how overdone her little crisis is in this one, just convincing her he wasn't a threat might get him enough time to off her.
  20. Haven't read WoT yet *duck head in shame*, but from what I know you do have to be concentrated and stuff when you use the One Power, right? I'm guessing the emotional metals will play a large role in this little spar. BY the way, what the heck is with the balefire?! I know what it does, it just seems a tad overused in these cage matches. Seems to me something as powerful as balefire should either be really hard to use or REALLY costly... ps, my reading of the series starts in the fall, so I won't have to wait *too* long for the final volume.
  21. Alyssa, at *your* service Welcome to the boards, nice to meet you! By the way, I am in German at my highschool. My grammar is pretty terrible, but it is a really cool language (though you probably already know that) Bis später
  22. A couple weeks ago I ran across a video of him reading from it. I'll see if I can scrounge up a link. here I think this is it. I'm on my phone, so I can't double check, but... Try it out! It was a fairly amusing reading.
  23. Mwahaha. Anyone see this? Brandon said when Kelsier and Moraine win (okay, *he* said if), he'd be inclined to do a write-up!
  24. The main application in the story itself was theiving. The viewpoint character was locked up for stealing a... I think it was a gem. Turns out Hoid helped her with some of the planning, but only because he stole it first and swapped it with a fake, and stealing the fake is what landed her in prison.
  25. Kell is back up Has anyone read the twenty palaces series? It would be interesting to know how accurate the other guy's powers are against our Kelsier. lol, under Ray Lilly's "kills" list, the comment on Tyrion Lannister's demise is
