  1. Thanks, I can see where you are coming from with the symbols. To be honest I wasn't sure. I thought they might be refering to that, and I thought they might not. I'll have to read back, because I thought I recalled the text saying they were a bit more twisty than the ones in the back of the book. If I do a digital version I can always just swap them out to have alternative versions.
  2. Thanks guys! I really appreciate the feedback and kind words I really wanted to capture this scene, it was one of my favorites (as someone who is always carrying around a sketchbook, I identified a lot with Shallan). Hopefully I can make the next version even better (though I may try a digital painting version too...we'll see (time time...where can I get some more time....))
  3. Thanks for the grand welcome (and Waffles!) I believe my screen name over at TWG was Loud_G. As for my fan art, I put up one sketch from Way of Kings in the Gallery. My main medium is pensil, but I also do a lot of digital work in GIMP (mainly for my comic strip (www.georgethedragon.net)
  4. Good day all, I was a member over at the time waster's forum, but I am only just now actually joining this one, though I've lurked for a while. I have a great appreciation for Sanderson's work. From the several times I've met him at signings I have been nothing but impressed by him, his humility and his understated (but strong) sense of humor....everything. I look forward to jumping into the conversations and sharing some of my fan art.
  5. Shallan and the Symbol heads Here is a sketch I did of Shallan doing her famous sketch of the Symbol head people in Brandon Sanderson's Way of Kings. This is a scene that really stuck out to me while I was reading the book. Also, I hadn't seen any other depictions of it so I decided to be the first. This is mostly a concept sketch. I want to do up a larger more detailed drawing using some references for the foreshortened body parts (hand and legs, etc). The symbols I chose for their heads are based on Celtic knotwork with an attempt to make them look kinda creepy. Not sure if the symbols are what Brandon had in mind but I like them. Let me know what you think!
