  1. Could Spook not have been active both in the North and the South? We don't have any evidence to support the fact that Spook was always in the North. I definitely hope you're right though. I mean I really like my idea and everything but it's always nice to actually be more clear on a topic like this.
  2. That's a really good point about The Returned and the Heralds.
  3. I also enjoyed the prose version more. I'll still pick up Vol. 2 though. I don't like quitting something halfway through. For example, against all evidence to the contrary I have faith that Wheel of Time will get better than Eye of the World.
  4. Am I the only one who doesn't think that Sovereign is Kelsier back from the dead? My own personal theory is that sovereign is Spook. I think Spook was studying Hemalurgy with Kelsier and they figured out how to use hemalurgy to contain Kelsier's identity in a spike. I believe that The Spike Formerly Known as Kelsier is the one in Spook's eye. The reason Sovereign's arms were covered in scars is because we are seeing through the eyes of Kelsier and that is how he views himself. This theory is entirely based on the idea that there is precedence for people living a long time but very little for people coming back from death in phsyical form. Just a pet theory of mine. Help me out are there holes in this theory? Can I make is stronger somehow?
  5. So you're saying her curse is arrested development. *Ron Howards voice* It was. Not such a bad thing really.
  6. I would definitely not put it past Hoid to get eaten to avoid being found. LOL He's just like "By Jove! I've got it they'll never suspect to find me in here!"
  7. Maybe he had cologne because he had just finished being digested. I don't know if anyone has presented the theory that the digestive track of a greatshell could be the mobile perpendicularity or not but I can't think of any other reason for Hoid to just jump down one's throat.
  8. In all seriousness, I believe that there are some very real cosmere implications to when Shallan was trying to change the stick. The stick remembered being a stick and only a stick. It wasn't saying "I'm a tree." I think this means that Stick was a stick for a very long time. So long that it's all it remembered being. If you look at the window in Emperor's Soul it remembered being a beautiful stained glass window. That's how it viewed itself. I think there is something very similar going on between rewriting an object's history and the transformation surge. Perhaps instead of trying to convince stick how much fun it would be to be on fire. She should have been questioning stick on times when it was struck by lightning or when it witnessed it's neighbor burning alive. I still don't know how you could then convince stick to catch fire though. Doesn't seem very pleasant.
  9. It's highly speculated that their second oath is "I will stand when others fall.". Because of this oath, their name, and what is known about their temperament, I have always viewed them as being similar to Captain America. I definitely believe that this is the order that I myself would fall under as a member of the Knights Radiant.
  10. Taldain's tree is specifically a tree without leaves. Could be dead. Seems to fit pretty well in a desert setting. I thought Threnody's might be a shade. First of the Sun I saw as a generic island fisherman with his boat and net. Which makes sense for me due to the nature of the Pantheon. Sel I still have no idea what the magic lamp is about. Also...Yolen is definitely where the scar resides now. I'm not sure if it's still there or not but I think it makes sense considering the constellation.
  11. I always thought that Because the Dor was packed so densely building up pressure behind the broken magic system, that there was a massive buildup and that's why it was difficult to get through to Sel. It would be like trying to swim through space made out of strawberry jam. In this sense Exspanse of the Densities makes sense to be the Expanse needed to get through to Sel.
  12. Another possible option is that what was being sold was people. Specifically Kandra. I do think Atium makes a lot of sense for the same reasons as posted above.
  13. Thank you so much for adding the spoiler tag and informing me when we see it. I've been avoiding spoilers for AU like crazy. I'm trying to read it in order despite the fact that Edgedancer is the only one of the stories I haven't read yet. You my friend are to be lauded for your persistence in keeping up with protocol. Are you a StoneWarden?
  14. Just curious, when did Nalan surgebind? I'm not doubting you I just want to know if I missed a new power in action or if it was one of the ones we've seen previously.
  15. On second thought there's too much that interferes with this theory. Accepting that the WoK Prologue isn't a lie, The Heralds are clearly separate entities.
  16. Do we have any evidence of the Heralds actually using investiture. Not the Knights Radiant but the Heralds themselves. I know it's not likely but could the Heralds be Bavadin?
  17. It seems to me like Changing anything into something else regardless of method is a battle of the minds. The stick wouldn't change because it viewed itself as a stick and the Window in Emperor's soul wouldn't change because it viewed itself as a beautiful stained glass window.
  18. I actually acknowledged this while watching the film as well. It gave me a lot of hope for the upcoming films. Much of what they did in the movie looked similar enough to cosmere stuff and it looked good on screen. I really hope they get the artistic team that worked on Strange to work on the cosmere stuff too.
  19. I also read that out of context and couldn't stop laughing for like 10 minutes.
  20. Do we know for certain that Frost is a Dragon? I know Hoid calls him "old Lizard" but my first time reading that I assumed it was because Frost was a leathery faced old man. It wasn't until people started saying he was a Dragon that I made that connection.
  21. What is the other series that got turned into a manga. I'd be interested to pick it up to see how well it translates to the genre. Toradora and Code Geass are especially bad about the the characters being based around tropes.
  22. I don't think I'd enjoy an anime adaptation of any of the Cosmere novels. I love anime. It just has a much different feel to me than Sanderson's books. I've always viewed his characters as more 3 dimensional. (pun not intended but rather discovered and left in on purpose). Anime tends to portray characters as less human and more like the Spren. They seem like representations of emotions instead of real people. I think it's indicative of what sells in Japanese animation. Now an American made animation. Or one that can stray away from current tropes in anime, (i.e. tsundere and the like) I might be able to get behind. Finally, to prove I'm not wholly against the idea of anime, here are a few of my favorites. Fullmetal Alchemist (the original not brotherhood), Toradora!, Baccano!, Code Geass, Gurren Lagann, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (the film), Summer Wars...I'm sure there are more but I can't recall them off the top of my head.
  23. What if they went all out with with the Marvel movie idea and split the books up by individual characters. Like if one decided to only read the Kaladin chapters in the first book and that becomes the first movie. This could in essence turn each stormlight book into two movies. One focusing on Kaladin and the events in the shattered plains and the second film focusing on Shallan, Jasnah, Taravangian and Szeth. This being said I agree that it would make a better tv series. I just know there is plenty of material on the Shattered Plains to make a movie. Shallan is where it would take some creative liberties in making her story more exciting. Or rather I should say more of film appropriate story. It was plenty exciting.
