  1. Argh...There's so many of these to keep track of. XD Okay so it's non-shard based. So we've got to start asking ourselves what could cause a disconnect with the spiritual realm other than the shards. Maybe it's some sort of technology intended to mimic a shard's power. Like a fabrial gone out of control. Or maybe it's environmental like on Sel. Maybe something is blocking the path to the spiritual realm.
  2. The WoB doesn't state that there was never a shard on Threnody. It's possible that Threnody previously housed the shard who knows what Odium is up to and has booked it somewhere else. (What people have taken to calling the Survival shard.) If this is the case in a roundabout way Odium might be responsible for whatever happened to Threnody's Shades.
  3. I'll take your word for it. Most of the spiritweb stuff leaves me baffled. XD
  4. I have a personal theory that the reason Hoid knows where he needs to be but doesn't necessarily know why has connections to the Nightwatcher. He mentions at one point in WoR that the process is a little sketchy.
  5. I agree wholeheartedly. You folks are fine people and I love this site, but there's nothing like geeking out hard with people in person. If these films are successful enough to garner a following of people new to the cosmere. That's all the more people I can blather on incoherently to.
  6. I was actually contemplating whether or not Moash could end up as a Skybreaker. He definitely knows that what Elhokar did was petty and wrong. The problem I see with the Skybreakers is whose law do they follow. Do they follow the Almighty's divine law or are they bound to the country they're from.
  7. That's fantastic. Although mine is located at the top of the book it does look eerily similar to Tariniel's picture. So I assume that mine is also a remainder mark. Thanks for the education Chaos! I love learning new tidbits of industry information like this.
  8. I bought my copy of Words of Radiance used at a bookstore in Alabama on a family trip in the summer of 2015. It was a little beaten up and had a ink splatter on the top of it I wasn't sure I wanted to buy a used copy because I like how pretty new books are. I ultimately decided to go ahead and buy the used copy so I could buy a couple of Doctor Who novels as well. It read just like a new copy and it was great. Fast forward to this month and my second read through of it I noticed something I hadn't before. On page 937 of the hardcover version is a description of Shallan's copy of Words of Radiance. It says "The sides were worn, and the pages faded---one patch across the top was even stained from spilled ink sometime in the past." So my question is in buying a copy that had an ink blot on the top did I stumble upon a hilarious coincidence or does every copy of Words of Radiance have an ink blot on the top?
  9. I guess it's still a possibility for the final book.
  10. Prior to release I was really wanting a graphic novel version of Khriss sitting and writing out the Ars Arcanum. I thought it would be a really unique (and a perfect opportunity) to show her writing it and dictating in little speech bubbles the types of magic on Taldain.
  11. So go easy on me guys. It was my first time making armor. I fully plan on trying to remake the armor out of something that isn't so smooth and cartoony looking. I have grand ideas. LOL The first three are during construction and the final pic is after I had my face painted at Dragoncon and I found a relatable species to converse with.
  12. It's becoming increasingly clear that I need to read these novels somewhere less distracting than work...and with a much keener eye. I tend to miss little worldbuilding details like this. Thanks for the education.
  13. I forgot about the chickens. And frankly don't remember the doves. If anyone figures it out they can just eat them.LOL. I guess it is a bit of a stretch though. There's just this word of Brandon out there that there are Kandra on Roshar and I've been suspecting everybody.
  14. Okay so this got me thinking about all of the things that Roshar doesn't have coins, soil (except in Shinovar), and then I thought "any animal that's not a crab monster". So what about the horses. I'm calling it right now. Every horse on Roshar is a Kandra.
  15. I love all of you. I remember thinking at the Dragoncon panel, "I'm halfway through Way of Kings for the second time. Am I going to have to go back and start it over looking for curious words?" Thank you people with easily searchable texts and the skills to use them (Argent) and people with grand skills in perception (Sand Master). You have freed up a few days worth of reading that I spend on something else. I've heard Jim Butcher is good and I've always wanted to read Wheel of Time and my sister has been trying to get me to read Name of the Wind for nearly as long as I've been trying to get her to read Sanderson.
  16. I really hope he is going to be able to make it. Meeting my favorite author dressed as a character he created is on my bucket list.
  17. I will definitely post photos. The armor is very plain right now so don't expect anything too special. I do plan on eventually making more realistic looking armor. As of right now it's a little cartoony. Nevertheless I'm very excited to be cosplaying from something I care so much about. Last year, I ran across both a Vin Cosplay and a girl reading Way of Kings. Hopefully I'll meet some more fans of Sanderson I can chat with.
  18. So this is really obvious but I hadn't considered it until now. Harmony, being part Ruin can still talk to people with Hemalurgic spikes and according to a WoB I just read on the coppermind, Hemalurgy is not tied to Scadrial specifically. Apparently Hemalurgy will eventually be important to later cosmere stuff. I just got to thinking about it. Harmony could potentially talk to anyone spiked by a metal on any one of the other worlds. Granted the "Spiker" would have to have knowledge of Hemalurgy as intent plays a crucial part. It makes me wonder how far Harmony can already stretch. It's known that there are Kandra somewhere on Roshar already. Can he use them as his eyes and ears? Is Harmony seeding planets with Kandra in hopes of piecing together the mystery of Adonalsium? Most importantly should we be keeping our eyes peeled for anyone with piercings to pop up on the other worlds?
  19. You should also have a character in there somewhere who is Stanley Parable-esque in the fact that he is always in first person and doing things you can't stop as the god of writing. Someone who doesn't follow the directions he is given and instead does whatever he pleases. He could be the only character in your novel (I do hope it's big) with absolute free will.
  20. I am painting my carapace armor tonight and If I get the skirt done in time there will be a lone Parshendi (probably female as I'm working on the beard last.) wandering around Dragoncon!
  21. Just in case anyone is curious. Peter answered my question he told me they wear shoes or boots! So that's a no on the barefoot. I'm thinking I like the idea of the roman legionnaire sandals. I'll have to try out a few different things to see what I like the best.
  22. Are there specific accounts (accounts for questions rather than personal accounts) that I should send these to. I've not used Twitter in a very long time. LOL
  23. So this may not be the best place to post this question but I'm going to try it anyway. I'm planning on doing a cosplay of a Parshendi warrior for Dragoncon this year. I've found nearly all of the information I need. What I'm still missing is information on their feet. For some reason I always assumed that they were barefoot. Does anyone know?
