  1. This. Jasnah is paranoid and cautious. She just popped out of Shadesmar in the middle of nowhere after an attempted assassination to find someone waiting for her. Her first thought is that he's there to finish the job. Her question could simply be demanding how he found her. I don't think Jasnah's lack of surprise should necessarily be evidence she knew who he was. She's calm and collected by nature, and it takes a lot to break her composure.
  2. It's also a holdover from an old version of WoK where there was uncertainty over if he was Taln or not. He changed the story when he rewrote it, but he was stubborn and kept answering questions as if there was still uncertainty.
  3. I'm wondering if May could be a name from Iri or Rira. It doesn't match Alethi names, but it does seem like it would fit right along with Evi and Toh.
  4. In reference to long podcasts, I think the day before the next SA book in 2021, you guys should record an eight hour preparation/hype podcast with everyone who guests rotating in and out throughout the episode and release it the Thursday before the book comes out. Would I spend eight hours on Saturday before an SA book comes out listening to a bunch of people talking in preparation for that book? Absolutely.
  5. There's an old thread with some really good ones.
  6. I'm not sure annoying is the best word for Lift. While you may find her such, it is far more subjective than any of the other character traits. I would use something like immature or childish/child-like, especially since she asked the Nightwatcher not to change or grow older. We've also seen hints of Jasnah's past insanity and Lift's past as a thief, which seems like they could be in the backstory column. Jasnah's especially, as she's already in her thirties.
  7. I interpreted Cultivation's words about wanting a piece of Dalinar to be more about Connection. We know that the more Connected a person is to a Shard, the easier it is for the Shard to influence them. It's also necessary for things like Ascension. It's clear Dalinar was already Connected to both Honor and Odium. In making the deal, Dalinar became Connected more strongly to Cultivation as well.
  8. It's implied she does, she's just in denial about it. At the battle of Theylan City. And later
  9. Eyes are referenced a lot in the Rosharan magic systems. Bonding a Shardblades lightens a darkeye's eyes Darkeyed Radiants get lighter eyes at a certain ideal when using a Shardblade Killing with a Shardblades burns out the eyes Deadeyes have scratched out eyes Regaos and Fused have eyes that glow red Timbre allows Venli to change her eyes from red to normal at will I have no idea why there are so many connections to eyes in the magic. I don't remember if there is any reference to the eyes of a soulcaster being unusual or significant. Knowing could help to figure out how widespread this is in relation to all Rosharan magics. If there are any instances I've forgotten, please let me know. I don't want references to eyes that are cultural, only things Realmatic in nature.
  10. This is what I believe as well. Shallan can power an illusion with a single sphere for a while, although I don't remember the exact length of time. Lashings seem to use Stormlight far more quickly.
  11. I think it's a combination of two things. Knowing a Radiant makes you more likely to attract a spren. So siblings should both get chosen fairly often if they both follow the ideals. Second, you need to be broken to become a Radiant. For Kaladin, Venli, and Dalinar the death of a sibling contributed to the breaking.
  12. Another great episode. I'm glad you guys brought up the idea of spren being involved with the Recreance. All the spren we've heard about the Recreance from were children when it happened, and the previous generation was massacred. I'd be very surprised if those spren got everything about the Recreance right. Mathis made me wonder when and how the shattered plains were shattered. If it was done using surges, could it perhaps have served as further proof to the Radiants that they would destroy Roshar and contributed to the Recreance? I would really, really like a podcast on the legend told by Puuli's grandfather about sailors coming from the Origin, but I know there isn't much material there. Maybe a podcast on all the random interludes with that included. A YouTube video where you guys analyze which Shards you are sounds fun. I'd watch it.
  13. I saw this a lot before OB, but not since then. What if this Death Rattle refers to the champion? What if Odium chooses Oroden or someone like him so Honor won't win?
  14. I made a topic about my thoughts on this a little while ago. I think this is a reference to the Night of Sorrows that has been referenced a couple times.
  15. Ugh, JFK is one of the worst airports I've ever been in, and I once spent 12 hours stuck in a three gate regional airport. Our flight has a connection through JFK. Instead of just walking to the another terminal, we had to leave the building, walk to a different building, and go through security again. Security was incredibly slow. They pulled my mom's suitcase out for a random search, which took even longer. The rest of us went ahead to the plane. Now I'm sitting on the plane, and she's still waiting to board because she was delayed so long. We made it to the terminal right when boarding started. If you have the option, don't fly through JFK.
  16. We don't know. His exact words in the announcement are
  17. I would take what Mr. T said about Battar with a grain of salt. We know he knew of the Desolation from Gavilar's visions, so getting the info from her was a lie. While she could still be a Herald, I interpreted that statement as being a complete lie created as an explanation for Dalinar. I wouldn't be surprised if a Herald did work in his hospitals, but I wouldn't trust his word on it either.
  18. I'm not sure how trustworthy Odium is, but he outright states Cultivation isn't on our heroes side as much as we might think. When I read this, I thought it was referring to Mr. T, and I still think that's true. I think Mr. T is less a double agent as @Calderis said and more of a backup plan. If the Radiants fail, there's still a seed for future opposition to grow from. Cultivation has her own agenda. She helped Dalinar, but she also flat out tells him she nurtures everything, even the thorns. I can't imagine she would disapprove of freeing the parshmen and allowing them to grow. She's playing the long game. She's definitely planning contingencies in case our Radiants fail.
  19. Preservation: … refuses to change status
  20. This was inspired by the State of the Sanderson and the recent Shardcast on it. Sharders reaction to the timeline. Keepers reaction to the timeline

  22. For loving and knowing an impressive amount about comic books. Don't worry, I only kill tyrannical epics in games of hurt and heal.
  23. I'm kind of disappointed you guys didn't mention that Skyward is in the same world as a story he wrote that isn't Cosmere or Reckoners. That was the most interesting part of his post on that. Edit: You did mention it ten minutes later. And you need to read Firstborn and Defending Elysium @WeiryWriter. They're both short and free online.
  24. For supporting Nightwielder in hurt and heal.
  25. I'm not saying Lightweavers aren't creative. My point was that Lightweavers don't have to be creative to advance in their bond. I see what you mean for the other orders, but I think that shows most orders most orders showed attributes more subtly. While I like your idea for the fourth ideal, I'm not convinced on your fifth ideal. Also, for future reference, your not supposed to double post. There's an edit button at the bottom of your post to use instead.
