  1. I can't say about anything else, but Hoid is not a Herald. Either Hoid himself denies it, or there is a WoB on it, but I am very confident he is not a Herald.I do have a theory in my head that Hoid is an Elantrian, or a half-Elantrian, or something. We know he has white hair, like Elantrians, but his skin isn't silvery. Thus the half-Elantrian, but I have no clue how that would happen.
  2. The King's Wit only mocks royalty. Hoid, however...Also, does anybody get to be Stick?
  3. Also, why does everybody ignore Stormlight as a source of Investiture? It's more or less renewable, doesn't involve any sort of ripping of the Spiritweb, and, as we learned from Vasher's cameo in Stormlight Archives and the resulting WoB, Stormlight can fuel other magic systems.
  4. I would imagine that you could, but since Soulstamps are very complicated, this change would be complicated.
  5. I...never thought about the Thrill being related to Hemalurgy...
  6. We should remember that Sanderson isn't above severely changing human biology to fit the magic system. (Case in point: Inquisitors). I see no reason why KR couldn't have gemhearts. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a plot point. Maybe the get them after a number of Ideals? We need to get a WoB on this.
  7. If we're pointing out Easter eggs, Shinar is in the Old Testament, and is remarkably similar to Shinovar.
  8. Perhaps the Parshendi require a highstorm to change forms because it is an investiture-using magic system, and they require Stormlight to change. It is mentioned that the Voidbringers changed even as they fought them, possibly because they could use the Stormlight in gemstones to facilitate the changes. Though highstorms may make a bridge to the Cognitive Realm, that is only one explanation for the Parshendi's need to wait.
  9. In WoR, Shallan notices that the contradictions in people are what make them real. Jasnah, the dedicated scholar, strong, immovable, but also exhausted. In that way, Kaladin is a contradiction. He protects, he heals, then causes the very wounds that, in another circumstance, he would heal.
  10. The reason I came to this site in the first place is because I had theories about the Cosmere, as well as other Sanderson books, that I wanted to share with the rest of those who knew Sanderson books inside and out. I have many theories, and I welcome you to the Shard.
  11. Roughly quoting SoS, "The personality your speaking to agrees, but since I am in between two opposing forces, I cannot act on those desires," It is not a direct quote, I got it out of my mind, which is extremely fallable, as it is not made of copper.
  12. Would you like to discuss theology and morality? Because Ham makes a very nice point in TFE.
  13. I support the Adonalsion.
  14. Wouldn't you want aluminum? Also, I am aware of similar forum topics, I was simply hoping to go more in-depth
  15. In TFE, Trell is mentioned as being worshipped. This religion viewed the stars as being the "Thousand Eyes of Trell" and they were very dedicated in mapping the stars. In either the WoK or WoR, Kaladin mentions seeing a very rare spren, starspren. Also, in SoS, there is evidence that Trell has been there, though only one Shard is on Scadrial. Trell is obviously a Shard, any idea about its intent?
  16. I refer to the Ars Arkenaum in the back of the book, the part that says there is an effect when Allomancy and Feruchemistry are used at the same time. Wax's is that he apparently gets faster. Wayne's is likely that he heals faster, or something like that. Basically, I'm explaining Wax's increase in speed by saying, "magic,"
  17. According to a WoB, someone asked him something about the Shard, and he wrote 'Rust and Ruin'. Perhaps Trell, the mysterious Shardholder, has the intent of Rust.
  18. Perhaps Wayne wanted to talk with Hoid because Wayne would make a good Wit, and Witty people like to talk to each other.
  19. I realize not many will likely see this. Thank you for presenting a theory that I have had myself, and have been unable to put into adequate words. The fact that I, on my own, without any forums to help me or anything, got a similar theory seems to authenticate it, though we both may be wrong. I also have a theory that the sixteen Shards of Adonalsium correspond with the sixteen basic Allomantic metals. This is an old post, but I want to back up your claim.
  20. On Scadrial, Bronze Mistings can, with practice, determine what metal is being burned by the wavelength of the pulse. On Roshar, Lightweaving can apparently influence sound and light waves, and the Listeners Rhytms seem to play an important role in their society. On Sel, Raoden tries to understand some books that discuss something about measuring the wavelength of the Aons, or some such. Basically, waves play a large role in Invesiture, particularly in the different uses of Investiture in one magic system. Any thoughts? Any additions to this rough theory of the Cosmere would be invaluable.
  21. When did Hoid show Feruchemical abilities? I was not aware of this. If he uses it to get where he needs to be when he needs to be there, what metal does he use? Hoid is known to be Mistborn, having burned the lerasium and being documented as swallowing metals with the intent to burn them. It is likely he has reached the Second heightening, but it is unknown whether he can actually Awaken things. Last I heard, he had no spikes in him, and I still don't know how he can Lightweave (He says in WoR that he isn't a KR, and thus must be getting his Lightweaving from another magic system. Given his white hair, he likely is at least half Elantrian, though I have no idea how that could happen. In any case, Hoid is not a normal Yolen. He knew many, if not all, of the Sixteen Shards, and it has been confirmed that the Shards knew each other pre-Shattering. While Hoid does not hold any Shard, he may hold a Sliver of Adonalsium. This may somehow be linked to his versitality in using magic systems, but for now it's a theory. Not to say your theory can't be right, I just think that of all the Sanderson characters that refuse to follow a mold, Hoid is the character that is least likely to ever be called average, and if Hoid heard about someone calling him average, he would get so upset that Hoid would march right up to them and spin their words around till the words got dizzy. I wouldn't be surprised if eventually Hoid makes a threat much like that one, probably on Roshar, given his greater role there than on Scadrial or Sel.
  22. Music can often change the way you feel. Only the most heartless can listen to many sad songs, pay attention to them, and not feel at least a little sad. This works well with the Listeners having to attune different Rhythms to attract different spren: They are attracted to emotions, and the Rhythm, combined with the state of mind, apparently create the necessary emotional state to bond a spren in the Listener fashion.
  23. I cautiously invoke the Words of Brandon. In answer to a question about KR and Voidbringers having opposites, he said, basically, that they don't have a one-to-one equivalent.
  24. May I suggest another analogy, one that may branch off in another direction? Suppose Adonalsium was more like white light, and the Shattering acted as a prism, separating the powers and intents into different colors. Though Hoid's comment about Adonalsium may be referencing this theory, and it may be correct, we still don't know exactly why Hoid is traveling through the Cosmere and what his goals are. He may be trying to reform Adonalsium, he may be trying to simply get all the Shards back into a cohesive whole, whether it becomes Adonalsium or, to quote Hoid, Gibletish. We simply don't know. I'm not saying this theory is wrong, or that any other theory is correct. I'm simply pointing out that there is still so much we don't know. Curse the RAFO.
  25. I'd go with Chromium Compounding, because not only would I have infinite luck, I could wipe out other Allomancer's metals. As for Feruchemical nicrosil, I believe that someone could store Breath, Stormlight, and Investiture from Allomancy in the metalminds. Virtually useless except for Twinborn and Fullborn like TLR.
