We've been talking about how Knighthawk might be an Epic. I would bet that his powers are the powers of nearby Epics, and the Epic-based tech is like what Regalia did with Obliteration's power, simply in a more versatile manner using Knighthawk's powers.

Perhaps Prof's weakness is such that Tia could trigger it at any time, making Prof too afraid of Tia to even try. Or perhaps Tia is Prof's weakness.

Sadly, I think that Idrian Returned are simply hopeful that they will be able to stop whatever it was before their week is up, or that they will somehow be able to get more Breaths.

Perhaps, instead of having more than one Breath, she simply has a significantly stronger breath, somewhere in between a normal Breath and a Returned Breath.

Forgive me for not memorising AonDor's Ars Arcenum, what is Aon Ela? It may have relavance to what Trell's Intent is.

could there be another big "god"? anti-adonalsium
Stormgate replied to Kaze the white eye's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The God Beyond could be Adonalsium, simply a little-known religion echoing through the Cosmere, the last way the unshattered Adonalsium is remembered. That said, there is definitely something else out there, something more dark than Odium, if that's possible. As I was writing this, I had a thought: What if whatever Shattered Adonalsium also allows Odium to destroy Shards, Splintering them into Aons, spren, whatever. Perhaps Anti-alsium isn't alive, or perhaps something like Nightblood, which is somewhat alive. Either way, that's the theory I came up with as I was doing dishes. -
Am I the only one geeking out about discovering the names of two Unknown Shards, Vax and Taldain?

If this were to happen, the magic would probably be end-neutral, but I can't tell for sure. Actually, there may be an example of this on Sel. Though we don't know much about the magic systems, we know of AonDor, which is end-positive, Dakhor, which is the most end-neutral magic system I believe we've encountered, Forging, which is end-neutral (although we can't account for the origins of, say the paint), and another magic system called ChayShan which I'm tentatively labelling end-positive. Forging may be the balance magic system you're looking for: by devoting yourself to the history of an object, you can achieve dominion over its nature. I'm basically supported Brgst13's statement, simply going more in-depth. My internet was a bit laggy, so I couldn't see Brgst13's post

I do not think that Nightblood will ever hold a Shard, especially not Odium, the Shard that is closest to pure evil. That said, Odium is not evil. Odium is divine hatred taken out of context. We tend to look at Odium as the Big Bad Wolf of the Cosmere, the entity that must somehow be dealt with, and hopefully/possibly destroyed. The sad thing is, we tend to ignore that the force that, in a way, created Odium, along with Honor, Cultivation, Preservation, Ruin, and the mysterious Autonomy, is still out there. Adonalsium was all-powerful. The Shards are rightfully honored as deity, how much more powerful must they be combined? What could possibly break something this powerful? Pure evil. Nightblood was not created to eventually become a Shardholder, nor to destroy Odium. Nightblood was created for the purpose of eventually destroying whatever broke Adonalsium on all three realms, wiping it from existence completely and totally. In my head, I see it as Adonalsium, a glowing white figure that makes the most charged Radiant look like a Christmas tree light, holding a black blade that seems to glow darkness. Adonalsium charges the force that once separated its pieces, and, after a suitably long fight, destroys it. Not truly avenging itself, the new Adonalsium having a different core personality and memories than the old one, but good enough for all who care to know. After all, the God Beyond had returned and destroyed the force that destroyed it in the first place.

I think the Windrunner would win, since investiture is hard to use on something filled with investiture. The Mistborn would be confused at why it had trouble Soothing or Rioting emotions, why only duralumin-fueled Allomancy could move the sword, and why on Scadrial (or, you know, not) the guy was glowing. The Windrunner, on the other hand, would simply wonder why its Shardblade was being pulled around every so often, and why the Mistborn kept furiously swallowing metals. It might get thrown by speed-bubble near-teleportation, but it would easily react. The problem with atium is an important one. How do you defeat an opponent that can see what you are about to do? There are two possibilities that I see. One, they do what Vin did, and or they pull a page from the Reckoner's book (not Steelheart, I'm not talking literally), and checkmate the atium-burner. Don't know how they would do this, maybe stick them to a rock, and then hit them with their Shardblade? Either way, as was mentioned earlier, the KR were formed to be warriors, and the Mistborn were assassins. While they have similar potential death counts, the Windrunner would likely win.

Interestingly enough, I'm being off-topic here to get back on topic. It occurs to me that, on the chart of KR orders, Bondsmiths and Truthwatchers both are on the inside, rather than the [bold]eight[/bold] orders on the outside. Not only that, Bondsmiths and Truthwatchers are both very unique from the others: Bondsmiths had no more than three members at a time, and Truthwatchers were extremely secretive. On Scadrial, they started out knowing the eight basic metals, and the two God metals (I realise that they didn't know about lerasium). They eventually discover all sixteen, so perhaps something similar will happen on Roshar. I'm not saying that it's likely, I'm not saying I have any evidence, I just like speculation. And if we aren't allowed to make speculations, then why I am on this site?

This seems like one of those things that we figure out pretty well, but are lacking a WoB to confirm it. I like the theory that Trell is Autonomy, but we need a WoB on it, and any questions are likely to be RAFOed.

Duel to the Death: The Lord Ruler or Vasher?
Stormgate replied to Turos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Unfortunately, BS has RAFO'ed what would happen if someone burned invested metal. Also, I saw nothing in Warbreaker that would indicate that death by Nightblood cut is anything less than instantaneous. Is there a WoB about that, or did I miss something when I was reading it? -
Before I begin, I have a confession. When I get bored, I often wax philosophical and poetic. This is the result of both. It has been noted that Nightblood, if held for too long, will drain the Investiture that is your spark of life. That got me thinking about what Investiture is. Investiture is the ability to change things, to influence them so that they happen differently than they otherwise would. All the magic systems rely on the single characteristic that they change something, make something happen. Everybody has this ability, it allows you to walk, to breath, to live. When somebody gets Investiture from a Shard's magic system, they get part of that Shard's ability to do things, and what they can do is often influenced by the Shard. When Drabs give up their Breath, the world they perceive is muted. Though Vivenna was sick for part of when she was a Drab, they seem to be less motivated, less able to understand and influence the world around them. Investiture is not simply how magic systems run, it is how Kelsier raised a rebellion with his death, how Kaladin and Raoden were able to bring meaning to the lives of those who had given up hope. Investiture is not some mystical and arcane power, available to only a select few. Investiture is the power inside all of us to influence the world around us, to change the world in some small way, whether for good or ill.

Perhaps he uses a feruchemical metal that is an alloy of atium and another metal, or lerasium and another metal. Granted, it would be a silly use of lerasium, it being far less common than atium ever was or could be. I have no idea what the ability could be, although perhaps he stores the 'gut instinct', that sense that tells you that something is happening and that you need to do something. Pure speculation, though. I'd like to get a WoB on what metal or alloy Hoid uses for this.
-
With Lifeless, their skill seems to depend on their skill in life, and it seems unlikely that whoever is commanding the Lifeless found an army of corpses that all happened to be dead soldiers. The koloss, on the other hand, seem to be roughly equal in their skill level. Also, Lifeless have few advantages besides ignoring wounds until they bleed to death or suffer a fatal wound and the inability to feel fear or the need to eat. Thus, the battle would be roughly similar to the army of koloss fighting an army of men, since their blows usually result in death or serious maiming.
-
Is the piece of atium that Vin swallows in that scene the one that was just coated in lead? If so, that explains that, as only aluminum and some alloys are allomantically inert. It wouldn't completely answer the question, but it's a big part of it.
-
If we're discussing Hoid's powers, his pure white hair suggests that he has some connection to Elantris. Perhaps half-Elantrian? The Moon Scepter he *ahem* acquired on Sel may allow him the ability to Worldhop. This is speculation from a guy who was rereading Elantris and noticed the white hair of the Elantrians.

There is a topic in the Mistborn forum that discusses whether or not Kelsier is a hero. Perhaps you could simply use that.

Worldhopper/Seventeenth Shard WISHLIST!!!
Stormgate replied to pharaoh9000's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Lift would be interesting, and not hard to include in books. Siri reads Susebron's chalkboard. 'Is there someone else in the room?' it read. Siri was confused. "I don't think so," she said. She reached for another pastry, only to discover that they were gone.- 43 replies

Ah, but was it Preservation, the in-Cosmere 17S, or some unknown force, like maybe Hoid? I like the Preservation idea myself, but anything is possible.
-
Well, I did ask for it... Thank you for saying this, it actually clears up some details in one of the WoBs I used.
-
Moogle, your point is fair and valid. I can't say I support it, given the lack of evidence for it, but there seems to be an equal lack of evidence against it. That said, it is something to think about. Kudos for making me wonder about something. Also, just for kicks, I feel you should know that my autocorrect tried changing your name to Motor and Moonless.

Duel to the Death: The Lord Ruler or Vasher?
Stormgate replied to Turos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Unless we somehow all bonded idiotspren, anything that covers 6+ pages of forum posts is up for debate. This excludes politics, as bonding idiotspren seems to be a job requirement. -
Brandon Sanderson has made it known that there is an Easter egg in the map of Roshar. For context sake, here is the map of Roshar. I apologize for any quality issues. Anyway, I have a theory on what the Easter egg is. On March 20, 2014, this happened: Then, just nine days later, this exchange was recorded: (bolding added by me)My theory is that Roshar is a map for the Cosmere. In another WoB, he confirms that all the action in the Cosmere is in a compact dwarf Galaxy. I'd be more than willing to show it, but my tablet is having issues selecting that WoB. If anybody has come up with similar theories or has a WoB that disproves my theory, that will of course be taken into consideration, but I am fairly confident that my theory is correct, and I'm hopeful that I am the first to voice this opinion.
