  1. Have an upvote for humor, I love it!
  2. So, could multiple Ferrings (assuming identical type of ferring) store attributes in the same metalmind? Like, if Sazed (pre-Harmony) stored some strength in a pewtermind, could Marsh Inquisitor 2.0 (now with metalminds) store strength in the same metalmind, without Sazed draining it first? Assume metalmind is not full when Marsh gets ahold of it.
  3. Nightblood is basically a mechanical spren.
  4. Granted, you are a tree.
  5. Not if aluminum is used. Note on aluminum: If you're ever going to Scadrial, bring lots of aluminum. Very valuable.
  6. From what I understand, Syl shapeshifting is more an advantage than anything.
  7. Welcome to the Knights Awkward. All are invited, so long as you swear the oaths. I suggest the Shipwards for you.
  8. I believe this is one reason we love Sanderson's stories: his characters are real. They have flaws, struggles, etc., and the characters are shaped by them, but not limited by them.
  9. Three words: "Reckoners is Cosmere"
  10. So, I was reading the annotations for one Cosmere book or another, it's not important, but I came upon something that was. Sanderson said that the abilities of the different magic systems don't matter, but the Shard does determine how the use of Investiture is unlocked. So, I have theories about how, exactly, the different magic systems are used, depending on the Shard. Allomancy: We refer commonly to Snapping, without detailing exactly what it does. Such intense pain makes the person want to preserve their lives more than almost anything else in the world, giving them power. Feruchemistry: We don't know how Feruchemists unlock their powers. Hopefully we'll find out in Bands of Mourning. Hemalurgy: The foundation of Hemalurgy is that anyone can use it. However, in order to practice the art, you need to have the intention of destroying life, basically of ruining. Surgebinding: Specifically the Knights Radiant. They go through a situation similar to Snapping, but they hold fast to one aspect of Honor's intent throughout the experience, keeping it as their compass, structuring everything they do around that one ideal. Sorry for the philosophy/poetry, Voidbinding: We don't know enough to be able to make any conclusions. AonDor and Forging: With these, they both are unlocked by a lot of devotion on the part of the recipient. Galladon and his father were both focused on agricultural methods, Raoden on his people, etc. Other Elantrians were painters, sculptors, or other devoted members of society. Forging is unlocked by first intense dedication (devotion) in learning every other kind of Forgery. Dakhor: it seems that this is unlocked by the dominion of others, getting them to sacrifice their lives in order to grant you supernatural powers. I'm actually quite hesitant about the Selish powers, since they are apparently one magic system. Returning: This is apparently granted by valuing the wellbeing of others above your own life, demonstrated by the known back stories of Returned, as well as their motivations for giving up their Divine Breath. That's all I can think of at the moment. If anyone has any information on any of these, including magic systems I forgot, input would be nice.
  11. So, can I sum up this thread by saying "We don't know."
  12. I'm willing to bet that you could only possibly do that if you were a Radiant Soulcaster, from what I understand of Soulcasting.
  13. Actually, from a nonlinear, nonsubjective viewpoint, the timeline in the Cosmere is a big ball of wibbly wobbly, Shardy-wardy stuff.
  14. I was wondering how dangerous a Pewterarm was. Then it hit me. What does Lopen say when he can't think of something? I'm stumped. WoR spoiler
  15. I have no clue. It would probably take multiple sparklers.
  16. So, even if say, Jewels (chosen because of the absence of Royal Locks) got to the 5th Heightening, she wouldn't be able to change her body like the Returned do?
  17. It is mentioned in Warbreaker that Returned have the ability to manipulate their body, changing certain physical attributes such as build. Is this simply a property of the Returned, or do all people of the 5th Heightening or higher have this ability.
  18. Still, though, that sort of thing happens.
  19. Welcome to the Shard! Avoid the cookies, they are secretly spikes. I would like to know how to do this. I have a younger brother who has read Alloy of Law and the Alcatraz books, and, I'm sorry to say, can't be convinced to read any other of his books. A major contributor is likely that, since I read very quickly, I don't see much use in buying books, taking away his ability to simply agree, and pick up the book. My school's library only has one book by Sanderson, Firefight, and he is forbidden to read it until he's read Steelheart. (My only logic for this flaw is that my school's librarian is one of the Librarians that is keeping the Hushlands in ignorance.
  20. What if the way to use Aons on Roshar (chosen for simplicity) is by drawing the symbols of the Knights Radiant orders, with the Double Eye of the Almighty being the basis. Either that, or simply draw the glyphs for the Surges, and maybe the Voidbonding Surges as well, should you get bored. Aon use on Scadrial may involve drawing the symbols of the metals, with appropriate modifiers for strength, etc. I'm going off of a personal theory I just thought of that the way to use Aons on non-Sel worlds is right in front of us. Who says it has to be based on geography? That could just be on Sel. Or, I'm completely delusional and need to sleep.
  21. If this is true, then apparently, Shard politics is reminiscent of middle school relationships among girls.
  22. That makes sense. It's also possibly (hunch) the material placed on Shardblades to help with training. I know Aluminum is magically inert, my main theory is on why that is, though.
  23. From what I understand, the Dula can't draw on the Dor. Even more strangely, all of the Sel magic systems seem to be one magic system. Knowing how Sanderson answers questions, your question might want to be more specific.Though I imagine if we got a map of Sel, we'd get a fair approximation of the number of ways the people of Sel can access the Dor.
  24. Maybe wave sparklers around to make Aons. (Guess what I'm doing next 4th of July!)
  25. Pull the linchpin, Marsh. (Wrong linchpin!) (sorry, Emperor's New Groove quote)
