Final Days of the Mistborn: House War Kickstarter
WeiryWriter posted a article in Brandon and Book News
Hey Sanderfans, just want to remind everyone that the Mistborn: House War Kickstarter is ending this Wednesday (i.e. two days from now). It is currently sitting at just over 231,000 USD raised and has blown through almost all of the stretch goals. The final stretch goal, to be unlocked at 250,000 USD, is for them to start work on a supplement, Mistborn: The Seige of Luthadel, which will cover the events of The Well of Ascension and feature a new "Siege" mechanic. They have a post discussing it here. If they reach their goal then the supplement will be available as an add-on at 30 USD. They've also made the promo card sets, foil card sets, and extra miniature sets (previously exclusive to the Prestige backer level) available as add-ons. As well as when the campaign reached 2,500 backers they unlocked a custom card builder which will be available through DriveThruCards. -
Okay if this was based on the prose version then it really should have gone in the prose forum, this is strictly for the graphic novel. I'm moving this thread.

The pause symbol means you are no longer receiving notifications from/on that tab.

Look through the graphic novel again there are a few sand masters that I definitely think are female.

We have WoB that stormlight cannot "heal" depression. It is a part of Kaladin's personality.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
WeiryWriter replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I really don't think the spikes have anything to do with it. The whole shapeshifting thing is a natural ability of mistwraiths, the spikes just allow them to be sapient. -
Hey everyone, so the first volume of the White Sand graphic novel has been out for two weeks and guess what. It just hit #2 on the New York Times Graphic Novel Bestseller List! I for one can't wait until the next one. If you've read it and want to discuss it check out our reactions thread here (we also have a thread to discuss it within the context of the prose version here). In other news the Mistborn: House War Kickstarter is still going strong. It has raised over $191,000 and still has a week to go. It is currently working on the last of the originally announced stretch goals (to replace two of the markers with some really cool looking miniatures of Kelsier and a Steel Inquisitor). They've also revealed a new stretch goal to add 6 more Problem cards (in addition it will increase the number of landscape sleeves in the card sleeve add-on by 25). Also Alex Flagg of Crafty Games, Designer/Writer for the Mistborn Adventure Game and Lead developer for Mistborn: House War will be doing an AMA over on Reddit today from Noon to 2:00 PM PDT. So go check that out if you want to ask what kind of Misting he would be, or what it's like working with Brandon and the rest of Team Sanderson!

Being a left-handed Vorin woman really only affects those of relatively high rank, lower ranked women can get away with just wearing a glove. If I remember correctly I thought it wasn't a 100% case that the offspring of a darkeye and a lighteye would be heterochromatic? Also the hair thing only really applies to Alethi black and Iriali gold. I see no reason why that peculiarity in genetics would extend to handedness.

The Splintercast Reads Mistborn: Secret History, Episode 3
WeiryWriter commented on FeatherWriter's article in Shardcast
The Steel alphabet version of Aon Ire is sooo cool, I was really proud of myself when I figured that out. I also figured out the Ire were from Sel/Elantrians the moment Leras spelled the name to Kelsier, because I am obsessed with Aons and so instantly recognized it. Question, are you planning on doing a Splintercast for White Sand?- 8 comments

Brandon gave an Oathbringer update on Reddit
WeiryWriter replied to Torrieltar's topic in Stormlight Archive
Eh, I remember reading a comment by Peter that that fact was played up to be more important than it actually is. There are a number of things that can be done if it does run longer, such as making the text smaller and going to a different printer. -
So Sky Colors are a thing on Darkside that are mentioned a couple of times but never really explained but I think I've figured it out. OlanValesco over on Reddit went to the White Sand release party and asked about Darkside. One of the things that Brandon revealed was that on Darkside everyone's eyes, teeth, and fingernails glow. I'm willing to bet that the color a person fluoresces is their Sky Color.

Not a typo (and it may not even be a mistake) but based on the prose draft, when Kenton pours out the water to "summon" the dorim vine for Khriss and company shouldn't the sand turn black?
-
I just checked and it doesn't, which I'm pretty sure is an error.
-
It's fine in the main White Sand forum, and yeah I would mention the newsletter in the title just to be on the safe side.
-
I would recommend starting a thread in the White Sand forum? This really isn't the place for that discussion (just the discussion about the discussion).

Are Shardblades and Shardplate made of Honor's godmetal
WeiryWriter replied to Omniforce's topic in Stormlight Archive
Actually we do have WoB on this: (source) So I would argue that yes, Shardblades are made of "tanavastium". -
I'll check with the other admins but the impression I got was that was only done for Bands/Secret History due to the natures of the reveals there, I don't recall that being case previously.

Brandon has said that the graphic novel is the canon version and that he has no current plans to release a prose version.
-
That is correct.
-
Yep, discussion is fine. Just no posting it in its entirety.

Personally I kind of hope he keeps this as a graphic novel exclusive and doesn't release an updated prose version. Partly because one of the reasons Brandon went with White Sand as a graphic novel when Dynamite came to him was that he didn't want to just re-release one of his already released stories was because people had already read those stories and he would want to give them something new. I think it is fair if that goes both ways? Also for Brandon to release a prose version he would have to spend the time writing/revising said prose version and to be honest I would rather he spend that time writing something I haven't read twice before. One of the great things about Brandon starting to release graphic novels is that it is more of a team-based approach, it's not just Brandon drafting 100's of thousands of words before someone else can start to help. As such it is a chance for us to get more stories. I will admit that this first entry does have it's issues. It is very much not a complete story, it is part one of three and as such I think we should wait until all three are released before making a judgement on whether the graphic novel experiment is a success. I do think the book suffered from the fact that it was adapted from prose but I also think books going forward would be more successful as they would be written to the advantages of this medium. Ultimately for those looking for a prose version I'd recommend emailing Brandon for the existing one. Also @Pagerunner to be honest it didn't really bother me, but I also knew going in that that size is industry standard (or at least Dynamite standard).
