  1. There is WoB that there is a way on every world to worldhop though not everyone will necessarily be able to use it. As for specifically Knights Radiant, I would say only the ones who can access Shadesmar since anyone who can acces it can theoretically do worldhop. (source)
  2. Side Note: The Spiritual Realm is not the final resting place for people in the cosmere. They go somewhere that is beyond the Three Realms. (source) Also in regards to the description of the modern trilogy, it doesn't mention the nicrosil misting but I know I've seen that somewhere: (source) As for the cookie discussion, are any of you familiar with cookie clicker?
  3. I would say no. We have WoB that color is important to gems and that a gem with an "off" color would act like a bad alloy in Allomancy.
  4. The Heralds do wield Honorblades (source) (source) And then this, where we learn that one of the Heralds, other than Taln, went back to get their Honorblade.
  5. Some thoughts on a few of the Gimpses: The gemstone/name of your old master one This screams to me that it is part of a Response to the Letter for reasons I think were covered (Hoid was the name of "our Hoid's" master). As for the gemstone... Remember in Wandersail when Hoid mentions he was named for a rock once? One that was beautiful but became worthless for him wearing it? I wonder if that is related. The I am a god one. Possibly Szeth? The guy that gives him the hit-list refers to Szeth as a god. More likely though i think it is a Herald. I'm just picturing Av from the Baxil interlude talking to Shalash about how Baxil has a crush on her. (insert disclaimer about how Baxil's mistress being Shalash is by no means confirmed) The little traitor one. I agree with the consensus that it was the Stormfather to Syl. Edit: as for the one who is coming for her? my gut instinct was Odium but maybe its Darkness? Maybe that's how he tracks down surgebinders, the spren tell him about rogue spren going and bonding people? It could explain why he hasn't gone after Szeth, no spren. If Darkness is in fact Nalan he would probably know the ruling spren.
  6. here is the actual WoB: (source) Also as for the Body foci, the are more philosophical constructs than actual "rules" of the magic system: (source)
  7. I've always been sceptical when people say Shallan's Memories are the result of Surgebinding. It has always felt more similar to one of the Nightwatchers boons/curses, though how she would have ended up with it I do not know. Also keep in mind that to the best of our knowledge Shallan has been able to take Memories for years, it is not some recent development. I highly doubt that she has had a Nahel bond for that long and had never met her spren.
  8. Here is a WoB on the issue: (source) But Sirscott is right, just because the Lord Ruler possibly used compounding to fuel allomancy at times (which is a process that we don't really understand as of yet) doesn't entirely explain his strength. The Lord Ruler was utterly strong with allomancy, probably stronger than a lerasium-mistborn, he didn't need any tricks to overwhelm a coppercloud with emotional allomancy, especially in the later years of his reign.
  9. I think it was last week's, which hasn't been uploaded yet. Anyway, that one hasn't been uploaded yet I think.
  10. Yeah as people have mentioned, the Lord Ruler compounded more than Youth, he also compounded things like Health (which is par of how he survived all those attempts on his life). Also keep in mind that some of the stories stretch the truth, for instance the story about him being beheaded, the sword didn't completely sever the head. I would also recommend continuing the trilogy, you really haven't seen anything yet, the Lord Ruler was never the biggest bad...
  11. Allomancers can only burn Iron that is pure, or reasonably pure (though they will get sick). They can't burn iron that is part of a chemical compound, such as hemoglobin. There is a difference between elemental iron and the "bioinorganic" iron used in the body. Most of the iron we use is from stuff like red meat/fish/beans, and most iron supplements are iron compounds. Some are pure elemental iron but that isn't particularly common since the human body doesn't absorb it as well.
  12. Oh, most definitely post it. I'd love to give it a listen. I'll also do what I can to transcribe it, though that will be a tomorrow thing, currently out-of-state.
  13. So theravenchilde on tumblr has this to share from LTUE:
  14. Ah yeah, this is true.
  15. Jasnah does not say that Cryptics and honorspren are the only kinds of spren. The "two kinds of spren" she refers to are emotion-type spren and nature-type spren. The only thing she says about honorspren is that they and Cryptics do not get along. I'm also reasonably confident that each order had a different type of spren (I want to say there's WoB for this but I can't definitively say).
  16. The next book is tentatively scheduled for Fall 2016 and then I think its every two years for the rest of the first arc, I think. Then there will be a sizeable gap before the sixth. Flashback Characters: 1. Kaladin 2. Shallan 3. Szeth 4. Eshonai (the Parshendi shardbearer from the Battle of the Tower) 5. Dalinar the second half is still very much in flux but there are some probables/tenatives Taln Another herald Taravangian Jasnah plus people I'm probably forgetting (Navani probably won't, her backstory will be pretty much covered by Dalinar's book and Adolin I doubt has backstory that merits a book)
  17. I'm going to move this to the cosmere discussion forum since it draws on more than Stormlight stuff.
  18. This is a question that I never really considered, it just wasn't something that occurred to me to ask. That is, until I had to answer this. As I was going through the WoBs, it struck me that Brand had RAFOd what would happen if a shardblade were to strike Nightblood. Now this was not new to me, I was already familiar with this WoB. I had just always figured Nightblood would block the blade, after all it is "magnitudes more invested". Now however, I'm not so sure. As we know, shardblades interact differently with living targets than they do with non-living ones. Which makes me wonder, would a shardblade consider Nightblood to be alive? I think it is an interesting question, but one that we obviously can't definitively answer at this point. Perhaps though, some light can be shed on it by discussing spren. (source) According to this sentient objects and spren share some important similarities, but what are they? Neither spren nor Nightblood need to sleep, but what else is the same? We know spren can die, does that mean Nightblood can too? If he can die, that would imply he is alive... So my question is thus: If a shardblade were to strike Nightblood, would it be blocked/deflected as I had always assumed, or would it sever Nightblood's soul instead? If so how would that even work?
  19. Thanks for sharing but there is already a thread discussing this: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6084-new-stormlight-archive-logos-and-bridge-4-revealed-in-brandons-store/ I'm going to lock this.
  20. The herald did not die at the end of The Way of Kings, he just passed out. (Honorblades disappear when their holder dies) Also it is referred to as a shardblade because honorblades are a kind of shardblade.
  21. I actually remember reading something (maybe in the annotations) about how the conflict between Ruin and Preservation was coming to a head and that even if the Lord Ruler or Vin had used the power of the Well Scadrial probably wouldn't have made it to the next cycle, let alone 20 of them. Edit: Here's the WoB (courtesy of Moogle actually): (source)
  22. I agree with a lot of what is being said, Adolnasium was probably not good or evil it just *was*. I also don't think we can use the intents of the shards to gauge Adolnasium, as best as I can tell the intents are an artifact of the Shattering and did not affect Adolnasium like they do the Shards. (I don't know how popular that interpretation but since there is WoB that Adolnasium could have Shattered differently its hard for me to see it being different)
  23. July 2011, so yeah it is very probable things have changed since then.
