Kelsier is a sociopath. He is able to emotional disconnect from stuffs...for people like him, Snapping is hard. We know also Kelsier was a very strong Mistborn and the Snapping threeshold is proportional to that. So It's not too strange he snapped only so late in his Life.

Does anyone know what Brandon read during Jordancon?
Yata replied to MountainKing's topic in Cosmere Discussion
To give credit to Ati. He also created all' the People's ancestors he then tried to destroy. #atiLawer -
@Broseph I Just read the whole topic and there are some confused points. Let's start with the terms: - Stormlight: Raw Investiture - Surgebinding: Magic System You seems to blend the two and this make It hard to follow you, sometime. Now to the actual topic, all Magic Systems could be' used with all' Raw Investitures with differents workaround. This workarounds are not equality easy to performe so some hack would be harder than others. 1) Now the magic system portability: - Surgebinding in foreign lands: To Surgebind on .... Therenody (random neutral ground), you need at First to be' a Surgebinder, yeah It's not a joke because you need a first Hack (we call It "Hack1") only to allow your Spren to leave his Homeland, as Spren are tied to Roshar's system by the Investiture Who compose them. Now we assume you performed the Hack1 and you and your Spren are on Therenody. Unless you carried with you some Stormlight in Perfect gemstones, you Need to hack some others Investiture Source, we Will call this hack2. Probably the easier way to use another Source is to have a stockpile of Breath and hack them...of course Breath are expansive but Easy to get if you have money. This also doesn't consider that Surgebinding could be' dastrically weaker outside of Roshar (probably no Blade or Plate) as Roshar itself boost symbiotic magics. So you need two hacks in the best scenario possible to have a Surgebinder able to performe his magic offworld and probably not at the same degree. - Awakener of world Our Awakener in Therenody (to keep the neutral ground) will use his magic without any difference than his own world. He Need to carry his Breath from home but as long he manage to retrive them, he could keep performing magic Forever (colors are a too common catalyst and you may find them Almost everywhere...I don't even consider them a limitation). - Scadrial Magic users off world I Will put both of them in the same umbrella as they works in the same principles. Every bit of metal with the right composition regardless of the source would do the work. They could carry a lot of metal from home or obtain It everywhere else (dipending by the metalurgy of the world they are). They could also use the previous hack2 to do the same as a Surgebinder...but what is the point when your natural way is easier to performe? - Selish magic users off world The worst portability in this list, their magic is tied to be' fueled by everlasting Investiture Source in the Cognitive and tied to their Magic itself. Make It work off world is very very hard. Let's say for semplicity they have to performe Hack2 and an hard hack3. I believe to not have forgot someone EDIT: Switched from Mobile to PC I forgot Taldain - Sand Master off world It's a weird case, a Sand Master need to carry with himself the Taldain's Sand and the Sand's investiture is consumed upon use. But it can be recharged exposing it too an Investiture Source (Highstorm, Mists) or near a Magic Users (most of the above cases) as the Kinetic Investiture they produce could recharge the Sand and gives the Sand Master his tool again. - Voidbinding off world We know nothing of this so... NOW I think I exposed all the main Magic Systems' portability. 2) Surgebinder (Radiant) Power level I will not deny the powerful abilities a Surgebinder could put in place. It's a powerful magic system. We could split the Radiant's powerset in two categories: Shards & Surges - Shards are awesome tools, not unreplicable in others magic but they are mostly common in Roshar's Magic. They are not invincible, every Invested object (and Aluminium) would resist a Blade from magical cut. A fast list of possible obstacle to a Shardblade are: Metalminds, Hemalurgic Spikes (weekly), godmetals (except Atium because it's weird), Object with Breath inside, a Dor powered stuff (maybe a Forged object too) and White Sand actively used to block the Blade. This fearsome but not an invincible weapon. The Plate is actually a good defense, I will talk of his offensive skill together with the "surges" part as it's a bit more complex. It could take a good amout of blow to be destroyed by average men. Of course if a magic users' battle the others are not for sure normal men. Stuff could strain a Plate: Pewter Allomancy, Pewter Feruchemy, Steel/Iron Allomancy and a storm of projectile, Sand Mastery's assault, ecc... Still a great help but not an ultimate defense. Notice that the Plate and Blade could be not avaliable for a Radiant off world (at least I am quite sure the Plate will not). - Surges, In this I will put both the actual Surges and the Stormlight's passive benefit Stormlight's effect together with the Plate will give you something like a Pewter Allomancy effect and this is good...Of course in the offworld case you could be unable to have Stormlight or to have it in a decent amount. The Surges themself are a variegate set of powers. Some could be extremely useful and some others completelly useless in combat. Depending on the Order, some Knight will be destroyed by a Misting/Mistborn and some others will overcome the Allomancer. EDIT2 because I didn't see the MountainKing's post. Spren doesn't that of their own, the Knight have to summon them and by the way, Spren's sense aren't faster and if they are they are still limited to the Knight's reaction time. Yeah Fullborn need a training time, this is true also for the Radiant. And remember (regardless on what it is) there is a way to transition into CR into the Metallic Arts too. I am not sure about the clothes stuff, could you gave me an example ? Because in theory the Mistborn could burn Chromium when something weird around him start to happen or an appropriate power for the situation. By the way, I think the Fullborn is the ultimate being in Cosmere, but...I don't even count Compound, simple the huge amount of option he has in fight thanks to the wide array of powers
-
Except we saw already Voidspren (stormform) in gemstones and the look doesn't fit.
-
For now there is a 8 times ratio showed in books. Probably you could go further but 5000 years are too much regardless. Of course you could use multiple pulser for that and Compound their bubble
-
This is more complex than that: The Spikes follows a not linear Decay. The Spikes will lose a great amount of charge in the First seconds/minutes outside of the body and It Will decrease over time to the point where the decay stops and the Spikes is as weak as It could be (a new WoB from Jordancon). Honestly Vin's case is weird because her Spike has too much charge if we compare It with the Vin's story... The Spike is too powerful for what Vin exibits in books.
-
Actually no, the Spike remains fine After the Spiked One dies. The stolen piece is still there and you May notice as Spikes are re-used over time. I am not sure about the scene you refer to (but I assume It's from SH) and I remember that One a Koloss dies.... ONE person spawns in the CR not five. If five people spawn is a Brandon's error

Physical and Mechanical Investiture Access?
Yata replied to ReadAndFindOut's question in Cosmere Q&A
I could see some Key differences: - Intent: a Fabrial need someone to Active and wanting to use It, while the Stamp is already set and everybody will Press It on a surface would activate It (the same with an Hemalurgic Spike, once the Spike is done, if It casually hit the right bindpoint...It will work, Intent or not, of course you need Intent to made a Spike in the First Place). - versatility: It's an extension of the previous but a mechanical power allows the user to put some decisions in the magic and how It will be' used. Stamps did not, the effect is pre-packed. - limitations: the mechanical powers seems be' not as flexible as the organic ones...And once a stamp is done, there is no difference between who Will use it. (This last point is very frail as Selish magic is all' about Precision instead of Will...so every Sel's magic works in the same way if you create the form in the same way) Of course I could be' wrong but I think some of the differences are those.- 13 replies

I wasn't suggesting he was the Kandra. I meant only "don't focus only on female characters searching a female Kandra". In Roshar everything except from Sleepless and Greatshell could be' a masked Kandra. ... Well as the Spren are afraid of Spikes is possible a Kandra would not attract Spren, is something web could check...unless Brandon forgot It XD
-
It's more complex than organs donors. With Hemalurgy you rip out a piece of your soul and It will affect you also post Death.... Surelly someone would do It regardless, but the price is different.
-
The Inquisitors already don't expose the Spike to any time outside the body. You can't go Beyond that.

Physical and Mechanical Investiture Access?
Yata replied to ReadAndFindOut's question in Cosmere Q&A
AonDor is organic. Only an Elantrian could activate an Son also a pre-written One. Forgery is hard to define but I feel It would be' organic too. The effect is pre-packed and apply the stamp is Just a trigger for that. In that context Hemalurgy is the same as Forgery.- 13 replies

Yeah Feruchemy gives a degree of protection from his own effects but this protection is limited, too much Weight tapped and a Skimmer would be' crashed too. A Firesoul Will end burning himself alive if he tap too much Heat or there will be' a point where the G-Force resistance that a Steelrunner gains Will be' not enough. I could continue but yeah, Feruchemy helps to manage Its own effect but the help isn't Unlimited.
-
A female Kandra could have a male alias. Don't focus too much into the female characters in the search
-
To expand in what it was already told. The "gods" of Sel was killed a long time ago by another of their kind (who doesn't live in this system). Now, only their power remains in a Splintered and mixed form called "Dor" and some individual Splinters of each one: The Seon (Splinter of Devotion) and the Skaze (Spllinter of Dominion). Hrathen probably survived of his own, he was a proto/incomplete Drahok's monk so it's possible it would be able to survive stuffs able to kill a normal dude.

[OB] Just finished reading, have small questions
Yata replied to Niteshado's topic in Stormlight Archive
The Heralds are linked by the Oathpact and they share the pain through their bond. This helped them to tollerate the torture but It explains also how they feel Jezrien dying -
Wax is a lawman in a Far West context. So he is more a paladino/Knight than a policeman/guard. I see him more as Windrunner, in that he would be' great, he probably shows also the potential for Skybreaker but I don't think he would be' a great Skybreaker, Just an ok One. (Like Rashek)
-
Gaz has the tipical Rosharan look and this already point to him as a no foreign. Much more as others said that beggard would have any kind of age between 50 to 350 years but Indeed worldhoppers had ways to extend their lives to a degree. I also expect a worldhopper to be' informed to the magical envirorment they travel within and Gaz shows no informations about Surgebinders from his interactions with Kal. I can't prove the beggard and Gaz are different people but I find really unlikely they are the same.

What stops shard things from sinking through the earth
Yata replied to Herald of Speculation's topic in Stormlight Archive
It's a purelly mechanical phenomen. The Blade's Edge cuts everything but the rest of the Blade doesn't phase Upon not living objects. So when you leave the Blade strucked in the ground...the not Edge part of the Blade recive resistence from the ground itself. It's a Last Clap made by the Earth -
Hemalurgy is a low Investiture magic system. The Spike's size matter but probably a small Spike is as good as a big One for most of the purposes. Regard the possibility of harming enough someone with a Tiny Spike...It's really possible and the victim will still probably die for Spiritual shock
-
Like others said Inquisitors already pushed the efficiency as far as It possible. With Spikes that don't lose any Power other than the forced One. Notice you could do the same Simply covering the Spike with blood. So you could Spike someone, store the Spike in a jar full of Blood and gave It to someone else without further decay
-
Burning Alluminium to avoid to be' affected by a spread effect is pointless (regardless of the actual working). You will flush away the effect for an instant and then you are without reserves (aluminium included) and still exposed to the effect you was trying to avoid.
-
Challenge accepted! Seriously the aluminium works as perfect Investiture sink...unless when it is in the Metallic Arts. That unluckly gave It a weird behavior. I would really love for the Alluminium to be' both part of the 16 and able to twist the Metallic Arts. Ex: - in Allomancy: the magic would try to open a condout through It but its proprierties made It the Power flushes away. - in Feruchemy you could store Identity in it, but as It can't hold charge...that charge is Simply lost. - in Hemalurgy same of Feruchemy. As far as I remember nothing in the actual Canon contraddict this but I am quite sure Brandon will not take this route
-
Try to steal a piece of soul with a weapon Who destroy Souls...It can't be' really likely. Of course there is also the "already mostly full" argument (don't consider the Atium in that as It's not so Invested). Let's say It's mostly impossibile to use a Blade as Spike

The guest on Melishi as needed to cut off BAM from the Singers and then capture her (like everyone could do) is interesting. I tried to approch the problem from another side as the Midnight Mother doesn't appear to me as captured in a gemstone. Because we don't have any reference to that and neither an explaination for her escaping. But I could be wrong
