Spoilers. If you look in the back of Hero of Ages, it has summaries for Well of Ascension and The Final Empire. Those are the sort of summaries we want (I'm pretty sure).

I'm for keeping it. After all, in like a year or so, WoT is going to begin drying up, but there will still be this awesome thing to help source interviews. Chaos mentioned maybe when WoT is really dry, perhaps we could move it to 17th Shard, but keep a lot of the same things they already did with it.

I have a copy of them. PM me your email and I'll send them to you.

So for the past few years, Theoryland and 17th Shard have been making seperate reports, for seperate signings, with quite a bit of information being double covered. Theoryland decided that they were tired of making two separate databases, Terez's Interview Database, and my Brandonothology (which has always been fairly rough). So we worked together, transcribing interviews, collecting signing reports, and put it in a beautiful actual database, containing all of Brandon's and Robert Jordan's signings, reports, Q&As and interviews This thing- man, it's fantastic. It has searching (which is fast as lightning), tags for common subjects (from Atium to Brandon on Writing), and over 700 reports. Yeah, it's pretty amazing. And the formatting is really nice, consistent, and I believe we plan on using this for years to come Marie and Terez from Theoryland have done an incredible amount of work, and have spent probably hundreds of hours on this project. They are amazing, and should be thanked for their hard work. Oh, I guess I should probably link you to it, huh? The Interview Database Note- Right now, it is mainly WoT, which makes sense since It's been around for 20 years, while Brandon's been around for only 10. Hopefully, with your guys' help, we can help tip the balance. Whenever you go to a signing or a Q&A, or find a video online that we don't have on here, post it in the Events, Signings, and Stalkings section of the forums. It's also still in Beta, so there are some bugs being worked out. But they're being worked on! And eventually, we hope to put more information on this, including better tags and all of Brandon's annotations. But go! Check it out! EDIT- If you have any comments on it, whether it's things you wish it had, or things that seem wrong, or any typos, let us know about them.

Nah, the next level's probably at 256 (16*16)

Hello, and welcome to Around the Cosmere. So we have two REALLY major things to announce. First off, the date for A Memory of Light has recently been released- January 8th 2013. That's right, next year. To see Brandon's post about it, look here, and to talk about it on the forums, look here. In better news, there has been a project that has been months in the making. Theoryland and 17th Shard were tired of making two separate databases, Terez's Interview Database, and my Brandonothology (which has always been fairly rough). So we worked together, transcribing interviews, collecting signing reports, and put it in a beautiful actual database, containing all of Brandon's and Robert Jordan's signings, reports, Q&As and interviews. It's also still in Beta, so there are some bugs being worked out. But they're being worked on! If you have any comments, you can leave them in this thread. Now for the rest of the normal information: In Brandon's update, he mentions a new Alcatraz annotation, as well as a new Twitter collection and a new Writing Excuses. Brandon Sanderson and Robert Jordan got mentioned on Jeopardy! on Wednesday. "Robert Jordan's death in 2007 didn't stop the series called "Wheel of _____. Brandon Sanderson now pens them." And yes, the person got it right. Also, it looks like someone decided that they were going to attempt to build Soulcast houses! (Not really, but still, it's pretty interesting) And- if you're an artist, and you've got some art of Kelsier, (or of any of the other contestants) Suvudu would like you to submit art for their annual cage match of fantasy characters (which gets a ton of attention). You can do that here. In in-forum stuff, My Spren Hypothesis is up, and an interesting thread about Emotion and Investiture is up as well.

If you do start the Discworld, Brandon (and I) both recommend- Don't start at the beginning. Start with Guards! Guards!, (the start of the City Watch Arch), or The Truth. Terry Pratchett takes a little bit of time getting into his element. And they aren't super sequencial either.

Maybe you can even start a Sing-a-Long Blog. I think I would choose to be a Coinshot. I often find myself wishing that I could just go up and soar- and Coinshots allow for that much easier than Lurchers.

Cell Phone Awareness My superpower is a little odd- my phone is almost always being slow, or not notifying of texts, or misses calls, etc. Which is how my super power showed up- Almost always, when I check my phone for new messages, or missed calls, and makes it refresh, almost always, there's a message that just happened, or a call I just missed. And I usually only have like 5 texts a day, with maybe a phone call. It's a little freaky.

You can put an extensive summary on, talk about various characters, say what Brandon has said was an inspiration for the series, etc.

Mostly from gravity. It's from the Spiritual Gravitational bond that the human has with the planet. (It's this same bond that Szeth manipulates when he uses a Basic Lashing). The time bubbles seem to copy this bond.

I think that sentience is the wrong word. It implies a certain awareness, a certain intelligence, a certain independance. I think a better word for the Goblet would be "has a cognitive presence". There's something there, but it's fairly faint.

WHaa? No! I was there, but only on Saturday. Was it Silence Divine? Also, I had the chance to ask a question, (and got a recording so it's verbatim). Zas678: Does Nightblood think when he's on his own, or is it only when he's next- Brandon: He does think when he's on his own. Zas678: Okay. I thought that maybe he was like the Spren. Brandon: There might be a connection, but he does think on his own. I've got a recording of the last quarter of the Writers on Writing, and then all of the Subplot & Foreshadowing panel, where someone said "A subplot for you, Brandon, is like a novel for the rest of us."

I think Chaos said something about that in his Principle of Intent. However, I tend to think that the Breath tends to go straight to the Returned, rather than go in a loop from Endowment to the Returned. After all, Lightsong starts feeling week when he has gone a week without taking a breath, just like I would feel hungry if I hadn't eaten all day. But I don't feel hungry if I'm continuously being fed small amounts of food, and I happen to be a couple of minutes late on payment. Allright, I guess it could work, if Endowment stops streaming energy to them when they stop giving energy to him. But I don't know. I think that Occam's Razor applies, and that the simplest path is the best one. The Returned get energy straight from Breath rather than in a work around from Endowment. Unless you're talking about the fact that Breath are of Endowment (like Allomancy is of Preservation). In that case I probably agree with you.
-
The fact that the magic is based off of shiny colors gathered from a magic flower, a city with plenty of restaurants, those with a Splinter of Endowment have Body Image correlation, and the fact that we see the world through mostly female eyes gives some support for the Female Endowment. Plus, it seems to me that girls give a little easier than guys do, and since that's what Endowment is....

I just wanted to say: 1. Awesome. Sweet. Fantastic. 2. Guess how many Rep points are on there right now? That's right. 17.

I finally learned to play Magic! And I won, incidentally. But that's only because we were playing a free for all match, they went easy on me, and the last player pretty much sacrificed himself to kill the second-to-last player (because his Creatures were insanely powerful). But I still won.

Nope. The reason why Vasher (aka Peacegiver, Kabsal, Warbreaker, etc) is still alive today is because he's been eating breath after breath for three hundred years. The reason why his Divine Breath hasn't been visible is because he's been hiding it using "mental gymnastics". You know how the Hallandren gods tend to look like the current image of Godhood? It's not because of the people's image of Godhood- it's the Returned's self image. Even though Lightsong may not entirely believe that he's a God, he still sees himself as a Returned. Vasher doesn't usually see himself this way. He sees himself as a scraggly unkept guy- and so that's how he looks. There is a possibility that this has something to do with the Geranid Spren Certainty Principle (the more precise you measure the spren, the more confined the spren becomes).

I'm in!

Mission accomplished.

In a word, no. I can't write down that spren are 400 miles long and they suddenly become so. It must be something that is observed. The more accurate the observation, the more fixed the spren becomes. Also, it doesn't apply to all spren- just the one you've observed.
-
I think KChan may be getting that from this thread: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/1304-i-had-the-wrong-gender/ Where it seems like there isn't much defense left for the Endowment is a Female movement.

Ah! I knew I forgot a quote. This quote is very important. First off, it says that Alakavish was a Surgebinders, where Surgebinders end up being Knight Radiants. Second, we can assume from this that at least some Surgebinders had Nahel Bond Spren. From this quote from Jasnah: We can amend that to all Surgebinders having Spren (presumably Nahel Bond Spren). Third: Not all Nahel Bond Spren are Honorspren. There's a difference, otherwise Nohaden wouldn't make the distinction. From this, I think we can say that since not all Surgebinder spren are Honorspren, the Symbolspren that Shallan sees are (probably) not Honorspren. I'm editing the above into my original post. As for the number, I don't know. Perhaps it isn't a one for one relationships for all the Nahel spren. Perhaps Soulcasters have several (up to ten?), one for each Essence. I'm not sure. My guess is that the Nahel Spren does not work exactly the same way for each Order, but the idea of "give and take" seems to be similar for both Syl and the Symbolspren.

Err... Not exactly. Hoid MAY have a bead. Most of the beads that were at the well were burned by The Lord Ruler, and the rest were given (probably as bribes) to those Kings who submitted to The Lord Ruler's Rule. However, Peter mentioned (A LONG time ago) that there is one bead that is missing. We don't know where this is, or who has it. Many have assumed that it's Hoid, because he seems sneaky like that, and there is an element that is spoken of in a letter that is probably written by Hoid.
