  1. Easy- He's Nazh! Hoid's personal cartographer who goes around following Brandon's instructions.
  2. Thank you! Also, for some reason I'm not able to download the file. Is it just me?
  3. I've got a question. Were you the one that was asking about Hoid at the Orem Barnes and Nobles? The one that I talked to about the worldhoppers in Way of Kings? If you are, cool! If not, Welcome! Glad to meet you! What college do you go to, out of curiosity? If you want a jumping off place, I recommend the Cosmere 101 thread, which will give you what you absolutely need to know to get started (even though I need to make an Alloy of Law update to it). Also, we'd love to see your notes. It's amazing some of the things people find sometimes.
  4. Welcome to the site! What sort of Engineer are you?
  5. Nah, that's what we have a cadaver lab for! They just don't tell outsiders that they don't start out that way . And unless you know someone, or have a bajillion credits, it's really really hard to get into Brandon's Writing class. And if you're overwhelmed, you might want to start with the Cosmere 101 thread. It has the information you need to get a grasp on what we're talking about, and you're more than welcome to ask any questions you wish there. Though it does need to be updated.... But welcome! And don't be afraid to come out and say a comment or two.
  6. The Staff hands them out if you do various things. Most of them come from doing things in the real world (about half are from the Alloy of Law Release Party), though if you look carefully, there are one or two that you can get online. Welcome! I'm glad you're here, and I hope that you enjoy our theories!
  7. Also, if you aren't adverse to reading on your computer, you can read Warbreaker online for free while you wait for it to come! I hope you enjoy the rest of Brandon's books and am glad you're here. And the spikes aren't that bad. As long as you can get used to the whisperings.....
  8. Here's one from the Ancient 17th Shard Question that Chaos and Mi'chelle and Rubix did.
  9. My guesses? Let's see here. I don't remember if I called Shallan's shardblade. I did call Kaladin's magicness, from the dun spheres. And one foreshadowing that I'm predicting, is the odd fact that Miles says that those of Red and Gold, the bringers of the Last Metal. What color is the cigar company that Miles loves? Red and Gold my friends. But that's all the evidence for that. The trouble is that most of the time, I'm too busy reading the book to actually think about the book and predict things. But sometimes when I'm only given tidbits (a glance at an ARC, early chapters, etc), I'll have time to sit down and make predictions based off of the data I have. But sometimes that epically fails (like my prediction that Harmony couldn't read minds, he was just guessing).
  10. Ugh. You have finals after christmas break? That's horrible. I would like to announce that I'm finally writing again (even if it's technical writing), and I keep wanting to put "Investiture", "Splinter" and "Realmatic Theory" in my paragraphs. Curse you 17th Shard!!!
  11. Sarene notices them- he keeps his forearm wrapped up because of it.
  12. My original guess to all of these would be yes. But Joe is right that the third one is no. When I asked Brandon if everyone had a breath, he said no. He says that everyone has a life force that is similar, but if someone were to gain the ability of an Awakener and then tried to awaken something, they couldn't use their own life force, they'd have to use a Breath. As to the others... I'd imagine that one and two would both be yes. A metal is pretty much always going to be a metal no matter what planet it's on. It is the physical properties of the metal, the atomic "gate" that is made that allows the power of creation to come through. For color, I think it's the same thing. You're taking the color, which is a physical thing and using that to help power the awakening. For Shadesmar..... I don't know. My gut is that they couldn't do it on Scadrial unless they brought their Spren with them (which may happen), or they find a different way to do it. And we've assumed that Jasnah is different than Shallan (she says so herself), but we don't know how different it is.
  13. But Raoden attempts to transport himself and Sarene with the Aon. It only works a little, not because of Sarene, but because of the distance. I do agree with you though that Sarene by herself couldn't use a plate that had an Aon on it, though Raoden could.
  14. Though I don't know. There is the whole "Atium" theory. Atium is due to start being made again any day during the Alloy of Law, assuming that Sazed didn't shut them down. And even if Harmony did shut them down, maybe Hoid just wanted to check.
  15. Brandon mentions that the Voice that Lightsong remembers when he sees the future and sees what will happen and wants to stop it. The Voice offers him a chance. To Return. It's right before Lightsong gives up his breath. Assumably, Endowment is showing Lightsong the vision of the future (though I guess it is possible that he doesn't actually know it, he just knows that they've been willing once to give up what they have)
  16. Okay, lets tackle this, 1. Well atium is more of a cognitive sight (like Iron/Steel) than a physical sight. You can see this because Inquisitors can burn atium just fine. 2. Nothing (I think). They can still push off of it just fine. 3. Nothing (I think). Unless electricity exists in the spiritual or cognitive realm, where it seems the Feruchemal stores are kept. 4. I don't think so (other than it would probably hurt- a lot). For the second, we see that Sazed uses some old metals for his Kandra prison escape. 5. I don't think so. It seems like you can only burn the metal that's in your stomach. You can't decide to just burn one of two metals that's alloyed together. Like Wax says: When you alloy two metals together, you don't just get a combination of the two metals; you get an entirely new metal. 6. I'd guess that you can Push and Pull on molten metals just as easily as you can normal metals. The molecular structure is the same after all. 7. I'm... not sure. My guess would be that your body would still register it as one piece of metal. Unless you're a constant burner (like Spook in the last book), like the Inquisitors are. The Inquisitors can see metal in everything, and can see the colors that are in everything. That means that they can tell really well the differences in metal concentrations.
  17. I think that it is possible for a people to advance too quickly. I think that you will see a larger group of Amish-like people who like things "how they used to be" and want to go back to their roots. There is a good chance that this will include a lot of Sliverism, which (probably) still holds TLR in high esteem and wants things to go back to that way.
  18. I like this. I like it a lot.
  19. Peter has long taunted us with pieces of information that he knows. It's the Ookla way! He often confirms little things for us (like Hoid being the Terris guy in HoA, he flat out gave us the missing Lerasium bead, Honor being a shard, etc.) But before he was Brandon's assistant, he would read the books (often before hand), and would guess along with us about various things about Realmatic stuff. But lots of times, his puts little hints like this to push discussions further, to the next level, to make us notice something, or be more satisfied when the answer finally does come.
  20. Oh! A Mega Appocolyptic Mumbling is all done? Finally! Also, Chaos, I'm not from Oregon but my Mom is. I'm with extended family.
  21. No, the quote rings a bell. I believe it was a question about Ruin's response to Hoid being there. It's an obscure quote, and I don't think it's part of the Brandonothology. It might be, but I think it was a "I asked Brandon at the signing, and he said:"
  22. Note that Brandon will change things that he's said before. Whatever has been most recently asked is most right. So for example, he talked about how kandra weren't going to use human bodies anymore, but then he goes ahead and uses the "Faceless Immortals", which are Kandra wearing human bodies going around doing Harmony's will (mostly).
  23. Okay. The transcript is up. Here's what I asked and Brandon responded to: So here's my theory. A Time bubble will work in space, but only if you have artificial gravity on your ship. Then the bubble will be "bonded" to the ship in the same way that it is currently "bonded" to the earth.
