Hoorah for lurkers! We're glad to have you here and to hear your ideas.

I'm not sure. What i've heard though is that with seeing the upvote authors, comes seeing the downvote authors. So the admins have decided to have that feature (but this is speculation).

Hello, and welcome to our semi-weekly dosage of intrigue, gossip and manipulations! Err, I mean to Around the Cosmere! You'll laugh! You'll cry! You'll get really sick of exclamation points! The big thing that we have to announce is that Brandon is answering questions on Reddit.com. He's already given some really interesting answers (like how nicrosil only affects allomantic metals, why Harmony doesn't like to intervene, and lingusitics of Alloy of Law). So go ahead and join the fun! Brandon has been pretty active online. First off, in his updates, he's posted the last chapter of Mythwalker, which has early elements of several of his books. He's put up two collections of Twitter posts, and the first Alcatraz annotation. He's also posted some fan art, promoted Pat Rothfuss's Worldbuilder's charity with some very very beautiful editions of The Gathering Storm and Towers of Midnight, and worked on the script for the Mistborn Video Game. We actually have quite a bit of information about the video game from a recent signing with Brandon. Let me pull it up. He has also said that it will at least be on the PC and Xbox, and that Brandon thinks it should come out Summer/Fall 2013. Announcements should come in February sometime.Other twitter information: SwiftxJustice asked: Could Allomancy affect a shardblade/plate? Brandon's answer: No. Investiture interfers with most magics. And then of course there's one that has some of us scrambling: "Multiple people from Mistborn show up in Way of Kings." Now there are two possibilities for this. One is that Hoid and Demoux are the two people that are in Mistborn and Way of Kings. Two is that we missed someone, and that we need to do a readthrough and see if we can't find anyone. For more discussion on this, check out the end of this thread. Speaking of threads, the Alethi (WoK) font and transliteration (converting English spelling into Alethi spelling) is getting better and better, so if you haven't yet, give it a look. Come back next week(ish) in Around the Cosmere, where hopefully we will unveil a project that we've been working on with Theoryland that will put the Brandonothology to shame. It's incredible, and it should be up and running soon.

Here's the quote. I guess that the quote could work either way, but Eric's explanation makes more sense.

Cosmere Spoilers!! My guess is that "Shash" is a letter from the Yolen language, pre-Shattering. After Adonalsium shattered, the Shards ascended, and they split off to different planets. However, since they have a common base of language, some things are the same. Note that there are very different languages. Not all languages necessarily have a Yolish base. We see Demoux having trouble with the language, and Galladon slipping into Dula after everyone leaves. (And neither of those worlds have "Shash"). However, I believe that there is a base language that all of these languages come from (like Latin? I don't know linguistics very well), and "Shash" is supposed to show that to us.

Hey, I know that conversation really really really well! We're glad to have you here. And don't worry. You're not the only one obsessed.

I hope that you enjoy yourself here. Good luck with the reform. My nearly-brother-in-law was a foster kid, and from what I hear, it sounds like you could do a lot of good in that area. What is your non-profit organization about? Child services?

Whaaaa? Where did he say this? Was this a question that you asked, or did you read it in a report?

Here's what Brandon had to say about it:

What's YOUR Talent?
Zas678 replied to Silus - Shard of Flame's topic in Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians
My talent? Sleeping in class. Oh yeah. -
My response to this is that Lerasium requires energy. Once the Lerasium is burned, then the power is gone into the person's sDNA. Mists, on the other hand, spend a little bit of energy to get you to use what you already have inside of you. So mists don't require nearly as much energy because they are working with what you already have rather than dumping all their energy into you (like Vin). EDIT- 1000th post! But that's not nearly as important as a number that's coming up very soon....

It's on the Allomantic Metals table that is from the time of the second trilogy. I don't know if they know atium and lerasium from experience or just from "Harmony said so" There used to be a bigger picture of it on Brandon's website, but right now I can only find this one: Allomantic Table

The Well Of Ascension Chapter 39-40
Zas678 commented on Child Bahkbar's blog entry in First time reading The Well Of Ascension
I've got to say, I love seeing your viewpoint as you read the Well of Ascension, with all of your guesses. It's really amusing and very nice to remember. Thank you for taking the time to do this. -
I actually was really worried about this, so I asked Brandon, and I got an answer from him. So we may already know everyone from Mistborn that's in WoK.

It emphasized the potential that was there. There's a quote that talks about it in the annotations. Got it! It's Chapter 49 part 2 The Sliding Scale of Allomantic Potential

Like this?

Errr... Actually, size doesn't matter for the charge. It only matters in how well the charge keeps. A puny spike deteriorates really fast, but a big one deteriorates slowly.
-
The simplest explanation would be that it's just Hoid and Demoux. I don't know where anyone else would be. Wait.... actually. There is one more place that I would look. Remember the Prologue? How there are some people that are there talking to Elhokar that Szeth notices? Maybe them.... After all, it seems like one of them seems similar to a Dula. Let me pull up the quote: These profiles, however, are not nearly as good as the Purelake scene descriptions.

I also think that it is interesting that Sazed talks to Kelsier, Vin and Elend after they die- and they're all allomancers. Maybe it's just me, but I think that having that increased connection to Preservation might help keep you in the Cognitive Realm. But Brandon has said certain things about staying around.

To the core. But not really. Way of Kings slight spoilers! I was the one who asked the question regarding what the bubble was tied to, and I asked it because I believe that the bubble replicates the spiritual gravitiational bond that the allomancer has. This is why bubbles stay in the same spot while the earth is spinning- because WE are staying in the same spot while the earth is moving. The Spiritual Gravitational Bond is the bond that Szeth manipulates to 'lash' people to the ceiling, to the wall, and all around. You can read about it in the Ars Arcanum. So when I asked the "Move with Planet or the Train?" question, this was his response: So if you have a way to make artificial gravity (and a Iron Cheming may or may not count. If it did, it would probably have to be a Iron Twinborn), you could use that and a Bendalloy bubble to potentially fly in space in a bubble, if you can make the bubble large enough (or a ship small enough). I don't know if it has its own bond with the planet, or if it copies the gravitational bond of the Allomancer, or if it is the Allomancer, if it copies it at its creation point or at its current point. Those are all questions that will have to be resolved. But I tend to say that it doesn't matter if it is the Allomancer or the bubble that the bond is based on- most things (excluding Windrunners) will gravitationally pull on everything around it. I currently believe that it copies the Allomancer's bond though, because a bubble doesn't have any mass that we know of. And I would guess that it is in real time, because it makes more sense that way.

That's it! I knew that it was sneaked in somewhere, and Brandon grudgingly said yes, then you asked if it was the person who it's most likely to be, and he said he couldn't say, that he'd given you enough.

And if you type ?banner=none at the end of the URL, normal Wikipedia will work.

Nope, but I remember the quote. It's from a Reddit article I think. Not the Reddit AMA, but a different one. I'll dig it up when Reddit is back online.

My guess for the Southern Poles is tunnels. TLR made tunnels to protect the people from the ash, and they lived in there for a thousand years. I'm not sure if he made them food, or if he found some sort of food that grows underground (or fish). But that's my random guess. And the South Pole vs the North Pole could be a strong enough conflict to see the modern technology we expect to see in the second trilogy with only 50 years to do it. It provides the motivation to make more and more advanced things. It's just like with the Cold War. America probably wouldn't have landed on the moon if it wasn't for Russia pressuring to do the same thing.

I would like to announce that the following is going to begin on a national scale:
