  1. I think that each person has around 50 lucky "points*". Some people (the ones who ALWAYS win prizes, t-shirt throwings, drawings and the lottery) has like 500 lucky "points", while others (those people who just happened to guess completely wrong on every single multiple choice question, who always roll ones, who have never won a handout in their life) have like 5 lucky points. You always have the same amount of luck- you don't need to be using it, or testing it, or rebuild on it. Now if you're a Chromium Feruchemist, you can store some of your luck. You can turn from an average 50 "pointer" to a 5 "pointer" for a really long time, so you can be a 500 "pointer" on the day they pick lottery tickets. *Note- this is all just an exercise in attempting to quantify luck. I don't believe that people actually have a numerical representation of luck.
  2. I don't know. I think that it's not outside the realm of possibility that kandra and humans could mate. But I think the offspring would end up being entirely human. But I think the kandra (if in a female body) would have to be very very careful throughout the process to not hurt the baby. I think if Kandra can bleed, and kandra can spit, then when in human form, they are genetically human, or can do well enough if they practice. Then again, what about SDNA? Is there something required there to produce an additional cognitive presence? Because in that case, a Kandra and a human would be able to make a body, but there wouldn't be a mind in it. And we know that a kandra doesn't take up the SDNA of the person it's replicating, because a kandra eating an allomantic body doesn't become an allomancer. But then again, the SDNA is somewhat compatible- Brandon has said that you could give kandra a spike to give it allomancy but it would be complicated. So in conclusion? My guess would be that the kandra (in a human body) and the human would make a human baby, but that it would be stillborn (sort of like the Returned, but for different reasons). Now if it was alive for some reason, I believe that it would be a purely human offspring, as if human1 and the kandra in the human body2 had had the baby while human2 was still alive. The abilities of a kandra are too much dependent on being physically a kandra. Now as for Inquisitors, here's what Brandon has to say about it: InterviewSo some of the SDNA from spikes carries on, but it's complicated.
  3. Hey! Welcome to the forum InsurrectionistFungi. Who referred you to the books, if I may ask? You know, I'm not sure if spikes work on plants (or plant-like objects). I know that they work on animals, but I'm not sure that plants HAVE a spiritweb to manipulate. I know they have a cognitive presence. But besides that? I don't know.... Oh well. Worth a shot anyways! Now where did I keep my victim.... We always love to see lurkers come out of the shadows. I hope you make some fantastic theories!
  4. It's from the same place where we get that they are Splintered. It's from the Letter in Way of Kings. EDIT- And I don't know. Fixing a major hole in the ground? It seems like it would just be easier to draw a little line. Plus, it would be really hard to get that big of a project together when you're preparing your defenses against a battle-ready Fjordell.
  5. I would like to announce that this is post number 1111. Or, for those binary-inclined, 15. So close!
  6. To the Database! He doesn't hold a Shard (Hoid wasn't counted back during the HoA Q&A prophecy of "you've seen four other shards"). So he could be a Splinter, he could be a Sliver. We don't know. But I don't think that Hoid's long life is cause by his potential Sliverness. Brandon hasn't made any mention of longevity being a side effect of being a Sliver (Someone who once held a large portion of a Shard).
  7. If they were the same thing, wouldn't all of the connections be the same? As you can see here: the middle two orders in the Not-Radiant chart aren't connected to a surge-thingy.
  8. I thought your nickname was lucidly clear- It's Marsh.
  9. I just noticed something else- The symbols in the Radiant circle and the circle next to the Shadesmar page are related. The surges are the same- just flipped at the symmetric point (more or less). Even better- they're in the same place for both of them. Let me show you some examples: Do we know what that Not-Radiant circle is? I can't seem to remember Brandon saying anything about it. Although it is interesting to note that two of the Not-Orders don't have Surges. Why? No idea.
  10. I've got something else- I made sure to copy lots of miscelaneous symbols, and I noticed another one that appears in a couple places. On the Kharbranth Map, in the corners, there's these little scarab things. They're also on the symbol page next to Shadesmar. Oh, and this one is a smaller detail, but the ring around the compass-symbol on the map is also the border for the Radiant page.
  11. Well apparently, I am really big into Rock/Urban Hip-hop/Rap. Huh. I didn't know that about myself!
  12. Yep! You're right. I didn't realize some of them were rotated slightly. They're all matches. I'll edit my original post.
  13. That's.... surprisingly cryptic. Here, I'm going to post the images that you said, so everyone can see what you mean: If you look closely, they actually aren't the exact same. They're the same style, which seems to be different than the Radiant and the Surge style. Oh! I found matches! The compass symbol is also on the page of the stylized Warcamps. See? It's the sixth symbol (going from the top). EDIT- I mean... Look! They're all matches! In a sec, I'm going to link a bunch of images to this post. - From the map of Alethkar - From the map of Kharbranth - From the map of Kharbranth - From the map of Kharbranth - From the map of Roshar - From the Stylized map of the Shattered Plains - From the Shadesmar map - From the Shadesmar map - From the Shattered Plains map If anyone wants to see the original pictures, they're on Isaac's website
  14. I don't know about the Coppermind stuff, but I'm afraid that I did miss FireArcadia's Interview. I'll be on there tomorrow.
  15. Oh no, your English is fantastic! We're glad you're here, ready to make crazy-insane theories. And if you see anything you want to add to the Coppermind wiki, please, go ahead! The more we can fill that out, the better.
  16. It seems to me that with this quote, Nohadon can see that the Heralds are likely to come again for the next Desolation. That doesn't line up with what we heard from the Heralds. They told the story that they Won, that there aren't going to be any more desolations, a story that is believed today. Plus, Nohadon never mentions the Knight Radiants, a people who would be just what he needs- an organized group of people for the Surgebinders. That's what his problem is- the Surgebinders aren't united, aren't disciplined. Nohadon unites the world, and from that, the Knight Radiants came to be. I don't know if he personally organized it, or if it was just a result of him uniting the world.
  17. But then why don't we hear mention of Desolations occurring in the other worlds? It seems like there would be some mention of Heroes with incredible weapons who came when time was most dire before mysteriously disappearing.
  18. I second Joe. I know that I would read it. The first time you read a book always seems to be the best, and it's interesting to see what people guess partway through.
  19. Not too much on the theory front. But the Interview Database is up. This thing puts the Brandonothology to shame.
  20. So I was looking at reddit.com, and I scroll down a little, and to my surprise, I see a Brandon Sanderson topic on the front page, talking about how Brandon's books are all set in the same universe. I was pretty happy. Especially since the blog post has links to the Coppermind (our wiki).
  21. Sad day. I'm sorry about that. Know though, that sometimes being a little more cautious is good.
  22. And beware of Joe- he will attempt to capture your soul by giving you what he calls "a nickname". Seriously though, welcome! We're glad to have you on our site. Depending on your length and depth of lurking, you may want to check out Cosmere 101. Economics eh? So what are you hoping to do with that?
  23. Oh, and so you know, we're probably going to change the Hero of Ages Q&A from TWG. The questions are really clumped together, so we want to fix that.

  24. You actually can link to specific questions, which is something I didn't know until last night. For example, if I wanted to link to question 12 in the Alloy of Law Release (which is interview 689), I would just add a #12 to the end of it. http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=689#12 Search results you can't link to, unfortunately. And since the tags are based off of a search function, you can't link to those either. We're hoping to change the tag link though. We really want to make that happen.
  25. Brandon talks about it here: Barnes & Nobles December 2012 Signing
