  1. I saw a few people discussing it because the beggar has a large beard and so does Ishi, I think its in the thread I linked in my first post in the topic, it seemed like no one had any arguments against it other than he could have shaved. That could also have been because no one could be bothered. And that is an excellent presentation of the argument for Shallash as Baxil's mistress I've never seen it all together like that, that makes it seem even more convincing than I remember it being.
  2. As has already been said, there are many potential problems with bursting, not the least of which is the fact that you can't know what they are doing with all their powers when you burst them, and it also only gets the powers they are currently using (source) as opposed to chromium which destroys all reserves. It is particularly worth noting the possibility that inquisitors can see with either Iron or Steel, and could therefore not be blinded by your first attempt at bursting them at which point they know to flee. I don't know if that's right or not, but the possibility makes bursting less attractive.
  3. I still haven't seen any argument that leads me to consider anything other than chromium-steel, especially against a Lord Ruler era Inquisitor who doesn't have steel feruchemy, I can comfortably outpace the inquisitor allowing a solid blow which will destroy their metal reserves, and then while they're blind and in shock I can have the linchpin spike out really quickly, I would use an obsidian dagger as my only weapon and it would be driven in next to the lynch spike and used to enlarge the hole the spike is in and thus make it easier to remove, alternately an axe to remove said inquisitors head while running past really quickly, thats what I'd do if I had to be a ferring, worst case scenario he blocks and loses a hand and I try again.
  4. there were two that overlapped, and I'm not sure which one that particular part is but one of them is on this recording.
  5. So my research from the interview database and the coppermind leads me to believe that although we have no conclusive statements either way the need for extra sleep is a physiological difference, but most of the inquisitors featured in Mistborn have gold spikes. Although none in HoA are seen to use this power.
  6. I went looking for a quote that supported that but all I could find was the coppermind, which I trust, but that particular fact isn't cited. So I don't have absolute proof as to Odiums intentions, but there is some food for thought in Odiums article, although I'm not sure this is the thread to discuss it in. Odium
  7. thats not even relevant to what I was saying Senor, what I meant was that if the mistborn was balanced hovering there, and then shoved upwards and burned duralumin, I thought the strength ratio of the pushes would stay the same, so all pushes become drastically stronger, but the ones holding it up wouldn't increase as much as the one throwing the coinshot up and therefore balance out the recoil, leaving it effectively stationary, in spite of the lack of solid anchors upwards, the more I have to explain myself the more I become confused as to why I assumed this, but regardless, I did.
  8. Traditional immortality is the one body living on forever and that body may or may not be invincible as well. ptoss, I'm really not sure how to respond to your post with concrete evidence I did a quick search and couldn't find anything to suggest either way, apart from that quote from the prologue that Meg quoted, 'even after all these centuries...' That wouldn't be relevant if it was a new body every time. Certainly so far as I can tell no one has ever asked Brandon a question about whether or not the heralds are being reincarnated or traditionally immortal. What I will say is that I firmly believe your theory is incorrect, even if it is the most interesting theory I've seen on the heralds in a long time, possibly ever. I'm pretty sure that when the heralds walked away from the oathpact they avoided going to 'damnation' where ever that is (a topic for discussion) by simply walking away and were they to die, I feel that they would probably end up back there rather than reincarnated. That said, as I've already said I have no quotes that really back that up, so take it as you will, and please keep coming with new and original theories, they are always fun to discuss.
  9. I thought that Duralumin would effect all pushes, hence my initial suggestion that the forces would be increased in the initial ratio of pushing thus, balancing out, I thought there was a scene where Vin anchored herself and duralumin pushed in a way that should have launched her if it was indeed all or nothing, but the ratio of balanced forces kept her still, but a quick search of the Ebook couldn't find it, so I'm now confused as to where I got that idea, regardless, I'm assuming that by now you've moved on in your rpg and this discussion is relatively pointless, and the mistborn is rather dead.
  10. Basically cleric, to get from knowing the basics to confident theoriser extraordinaire is learning to use THIS. You'll learn things as you go you'll see where peoples theories are headed and you'll work out which ones you agree with and disagree with, the best thing is to stick at it, the knowledge will come, and you'll be surprised how quickly it does come.
  11. I stand corrected. So a lot of them probably missed out on 2 metals... probably copper, atium or the emotional metals. In terms of head wounds, Inquisitors had horrendous amounts of health stored up because no one dared to fight them and they spent most of their lives sleeping, when I assume they were actually storing health. And even in Alloy of Law times the guns they were using are not necessarily going to be fatal with a headshot even if you aren't a bloodmaker, and even if the bullet hits the brain I suspect any and all available health would be tapped subconsciously while you fade out and therefore it would be more survivable than people are assuming. Finally Nepene, on the rules there, I'm pretty sure Health in the novels (based on Alloy of Law) is a little different cause you don't get sick again once you stop tapping, its more like regeneration than actual health in the sense of a game.
  12. you've got to remember the reaction force from launching the coinshot up effects the mistborn as well, hence my suggestion that they stay essentially stationary. Also if they're balancing their output before they burn duralumin I think its reasonable to assume that their pushes stay balanced, mistborn lives or even that the duralumin only effects the upwards push in which case mistborn pancakes.
  13. Brandon has confirmed that there were more heralds in the book than we thought there were (the number we thought being 3, Jezrien, Kalak and Taln.) This thread contains some discussion as well as several quotes from Brandon on the topic. Just filling you in a bit on the Heralds, they are immortal, so its the same heralds who walked away from the oathpact still hanging around in Roshar just chilling, or going insane, or maybe even doing stuff, or going insane, we're pretty sure most of them are doing two of those 4 option (going insane). However they would have assumed fake names, and may or may not look like the portraits we have of them in the book, due to inaccuracies brought in over time and also the fact that in 4 500 years a man can grow a pretty awesome beard and shave it off several times over. The most common theories are that Shallash has been referenced as the lady hiring people to destroy the statues of her, and a tad more controversial, Jezrien being Niter, the head of Dalinar's bodyguards, another fairly common theory is Ishi as the beggar in the prologue.
  14. He is quite cunning in a way though, and despite his problems has a good heart. Paranoia is a weakness sure, but if only good people became Radiants, Kalladin (despite his awesomeness) is a massive jerk, has a depressive personality and genuinely loaths an entire social class based on the actions of 2 or 3 people. He's probably doing worse than Elhokar a lot of the time.
  15. Major flaw in that idea of events is that we've been told that Odium's major goal in life is to be the only shard left, his intent is both Hate and worthy of Hate, and he doesn't invest anything to maximise his personal power and goes around smashing shards to make sure he is the only one left, I don't think he was even on Roshar during the desolations I think Honour was killed fairly recently and Odium hasn't been there for long. I think Honours comments are more likely to be meaning 'I've seen Odium about the cosmere killing peeps with shards, and I know he'll be wanderin over this way fairly soon.'
  16. See to put another interesting spin in there, I can't remember where in the book they are but there are two other quotes that have often been thrown around in relation to the 3 Gods "Three of Sixteen ruled but now the Broken One reigns" and "ODIUM COMES. MOST DANGEROUS OF ALL THE SIXTEEN. ..." What if the third shard/God isn't Odium? I do like the idea on why Darkeyes aren't allowed to wield swords, that really makes a lot of sense.
  17. I would be interested in getting transcriptions as well, its much easier to quote a transcription when writing theories. I thought people were doing that, but I haven't heard anything...
  18. You also have the force of the coinshots push, I assumed the duralumin does enough to get the person treated the same as the coin and also that the multiple pushes balance out and the mistborn is left wtih no metal 30ft off the ground which is easily survivable for a trained fighter like the mistborn is I assume. Although he should take damage, but 50ft is considered borderline for the average person in terms of survivability fit people who know what they're doing can fall further without dying, a mistborn falls into this catagory.
  19. I'm bored so I'm giving it a go, it will be a little rough and Chaos is much better at this sort of thing than me, I also haven't done this in 2 years or so. I don't have the game so I don't know the rules, I found a preview of the steel sheet, which leads me to believe that they are accelerated to at least 100 mph almost instantly, if its only that fast that equates to about 45g shock load which is survivable (racing drivers have survived loads of up to 100g in similar scenarios.) They are launched upwards for approximately 4.5 seconds, resulting in being launched 101.8m (metres, can't be bothered to convert to miles) into the sky. Falling from this height is relatively easy for a coinshot in the environment you describe. Also, I nearly screwed up my calculations and sent them 10km up, which would have been wrong, but much more exciting.
  20. Each basic Inquisitor had 11 spikes. They had 8 Chest spikes, 2 eye spikes and the Linchpin spike. This leads me to believe that they have the 8 basic metals, atium, and gold feruchemy with some not getting atium and getting something else instead. They then have double steel making them considerably stronger than even a leresium mistborn. In that one power. btw my assumption of power scale is leresium is 1, Vin is .8, kelsier/normal is .7, and therefore each inquisitor spike is also .7 with some miniscule loss as the spike is never really out of a body, when making an inquisitor they drive it straight through the body of the victim into the inquisitor, so maybe it drops as far as .69, but negligible power drop regardless.
  21. In short, high enough that short of having more metal and finding a good anchor on the way done death is not a possibility but a certainty. Beyond that I don't know, I think Chaos is the man to talk to for this, send him a PM to make sure he notices the thread.
  22. Is that from the RPG? If so do we have WoB that its actually how it works and not a gameplay mechanic to balance the game? Because we've been told that while the RPG is generally accurate the specific details, particularly in how the magics work have been modified for easier/more balanced game play. We already know of a couple of examples that I can't remember off the top of my head because I don't have the game.
  23. Fight spren, appear in large numbers whenever 2 young people are considering a fight, they repeatedly chant 'fight fight fight...' until the fight begins and then cheer loudly whenever either combatant lands a decent punch and make sympathetic noises whenever one gets really really hit and appears to be in a lot of pain.
  24. Thats all very clever and thought out but because of some Word of Brandon stuff also probably wrong. For example we know that You're understanding of the origins of the shardbearers is actually pretty reasonable but as far as I know most of the people of their planet died and only 16 of them picked up pieces of the thing that was before the shards which is known as Adonalsium (There's also debate over the exact nature of Adonalsium). Also, I suggest looking up the readings of SA2 because one of them discusses the Parshendi in ways that influenced many opinions on them. And some food for thought, the highstorms carry Stormlight, which you assume is Honours... they also carry Crem which is very cultivation. All that said, it is very good to see you thinking and having ago, thats a much better theory than some I came up with but didn't have the confidence to post when I was new to the cosmere, and it does take a long time to get a handle on all the different sources of information out there.
  25. Yeah I reckon the easiest way to win is Chromium Steel as a twinborn, lunge from too far back for them to react and slap them in the face, step around them and remove the spike while they're shocked from sudden blindness. This assumes I'm physically strong enough to remove the spike, if not pewter twinborn all the way.
