  1. We don't actually know that he doesn't Kalladin only sees them when stops and looks closely. I think its more likely they are there, simply because thats what we've seen in the world so far. Edit: Ninja's and their Ninjaing
  2. We know that the Hoid is writing to a dragon who is a character in the Dragonsteel series (yet to be written in any canonical form), whether that person is a shardholder is uncertain but I've always assumed that they probably were probably a significant power but closer to a splinter than a full shard (although not a splinter because they existed pre-shattering). That said, I know of nothing that gives any evidence either way.
  3. Ok that all makes a lot of sense while also forcing me to completely rethink an awful lot. I know before we got honourspren as confirmed splinters the theory was that splinters were not independent cognitive identities and required a bond with something from the physical realm, but it appears that they can be independent but still require a bond to be active in the physical realm...? (that isn't a question, I know that, but it should be.)
  4. I was about to add what Weiry said, I'm pretty sure the chasmfiend on the hunt is pupated, I had a pretty good look and I couldn't find the WoB but I'm sure its out there, although, not in database yet, which isn't surprising if I remember correctly its about 6 month old information and the database is occasionally quite slow.
  5. My understanding of that situation is that crazy people have a harder time recognising Ruins influence and take less convincing to do something. As in he doesn't have more control, they're just more likely to do what he wants anyway.
  6. We actually have no evidence that splinters are sentient, or even have any kind of cognitive function (beyond that of other non-living things in the cosmere). The confirmed splinters we have (as far as I know) are: The Divine Breath (in the Returned) The Aons (in Seons) Other things suspected of having splinter involvement are Skaze, and Spren (I may be somewhat behind on this one) In all these cases the cognitive identity is separate from the splinter.
  7. So I was watching the tv show Nikita and one of the actors would be perfect for Kar, or any of the other inquisitors Rob Stewart (the link is to his imdb page but its pretty sparse, watch the first episode of Nikita if you can, its shows his talent a lot better) I haven't seen him in anything else but it doesn't matter his character in Nikita is already an inquisitor, just add a few spikes and he will be terrifying/perfect.
  8. I'm pretty sure Feruchemical iron stores mass. WOB This does in fact mean that the coppermind is incorrect because I looked there first and almost gave up.
  9. I would disagree with that, I've always assumed that the reason Koloss are so easy to control is that they have the mental capacity of a particularly intelligent peanut and so they can't comprehend resisting, and possibly can't even recognise they're being manipulated.
  10. I come to this topic a bit late bearing the dreaded 'vague memory of WOB' but I'm pretty sure there is a quote out there that talks about genetics in the Cosmere and likens it to a '4-dimensional punnett sqaure', where at least one of the additional factors is geography. So after writing that I actually found not the original quote but the topic in the mistborn forums where I originally saw it, where the discussion includes several other useful quotes, and out of laziness decided to simply give you this. (which is to say the whole topic, its ok, its short)
  11. A long time ago I remember this being asked in the context of an Aon Rao tattoo, which would potentially allow them to be powerful away from Elantris... I can't remember what the conclusion was though.
  12. buy, its still a plausible theory that the story of the cosmere is the reconstruction of something like adonalsium, an idea I enjoy more than I believe in. Kalladin will take his next opportunity to get shards (of the plate and blade variety as opposed to the honour and odium variety)
  13. quick handy tool for differentiating between them (the seventeenth shard in the books) and us (the 17th shard) is the use of words in reference to the in book seventeenth shard, and numbers in reference to us. ie: we are the 17th shard, Hoid is being chased by the seventeenth shard. At least, that was the standard when I used to come here, before I randomly left for reasons unapparent to myself at the end of last year... although I'm not sure how I feel about throwing this in here after firstRainbowRose commented without mentioning it.
  14. He doesn't burn gold constantly certainly not enough to be a savant. Compounding healing requires burning f-gold, which is fundamentally different to standard allomantic burning of gold. When Vin tries to burn one of Sazed's metalminds we see that she finds a new and completely separate source to burn, and this isn't linked to burning the original metal. Although she is unable to actually burn it because it isn't her source this is still pretty clearly showing that compounding a feruchemical charge doesn't involve burning the allomantic metal.
  15. I find this theory unlikely for other reasons, firstly the Parshendi are clearly sentient, while the chasmfiends are not, and it makes almost no sense for a lifeform to get less intelligent through its life. Secondly and far more significantly, Parshendi, are the same as parshmen, we already suspected that but the WoR readings confirm that, and if parshmen were turning into chasmfiends whenever they found themselves in a highstorm with a deathspren then there would be chasmfiends in places that were not the shattered plains, and they would have been around for a lot longer as well.
  16. We know Honour survived until well after the breaking of the oathpact as well, because most of Dalinars visions are more recent than that, and Honour tells him that they are mostly things Honour saw and the only one we know that isn't true of is the last one in which Honour in forms him of this.
  17. I'm almost certain the lerasium mistborn is not necessarily full power, its only the most powerful we've ever seen, the use of hemalurgy/more leresium could elevate powers beyond that level. For example we've got WoB that suggests at times in the past the Lord Ruler made use of hemalurgy to further augment his powers, although he avoided doing it on an ongoing basis as he knew the dangers of too many hemalurgic spikes.
  18. I actually think that it would be reasonable to assume that smokers only cover allomancy as a default and that learning to cover the traces of even hemalurgy and feruchemy (both of which seekers can learn to detect) would qualify as a trick that would take a lot of work to master, and that while they could hide any form of investiture with enough training that that would be insanely difficult and functionally impossible for most if not all smokers.
  19. He did, however many years ago the visions were recorded but that could be a thousand years ago or more. Just because Cultivation was alive then doesn't mean she is now.
  20. The biggest problem that comes with that theory is that that order theoretically specialises in organic soulcasting, something Jasnah states she is terrible at.
  21. They dobt for someone who can see, but who knows what they do if you can't. Atium allows you to know the future and enhances you such that you can respond, atium shadows is what most people see but blind people will still receive the input, just through their other senses
  22. Thanks that actually makes way more sense than my assumption.
  23. If I remember correctly, weight in feruchemical terms is actually changing your mass, but doesn't change your density because magic.
  24. Being heavier does not make your pushes stronger, that is an in world misconception, being better anchored allows you to push harder. On to the topic at hand, as people have already speculated, while purely pushing on metals is theoretically amazing you can't outperform a gun without leaving yourself open to being shot, which I feel most people would prefer to avoid. You can use a gun and add a bit of extra force with your powers when necessary, something that works quite well for Wax, even doing that you cant be as accurate or fire as rapidly using purely pushing as you can with a gun
  25. I'd be interested to see a source for the feruchemical power overwriting the allomantic, I've never seen that and always assumed the opposite, a view I will admit is completely unfounded.
