  1. Night 6 "Hurry it up you stormin' idiots! Or maybe you'd like to carry it some more?" yelled Gaz as Bridge 11 was carrying their bridge back to the bridge yard. They'd gone on another run today, but the gemheart wasn't very far away, so they'd reached the plateau long before the Parshendi. They lagged behind the others because of their small number. Once they entered the bridge yard, Gaz wandered toward the soldiers quarters. They were setting the bridge down when suddenly the back half of the bridge fell to the ground. There was a *thud* as the bridge collided with one of the bridgemen at the back. The bridgemen who'd let the bridge fall stepped back, not even trying to help the man out. Gaz heard the crashing of the bridge and rushed back to the bridge yard. "What are you standing around for, you storming cremlings?! Get that bridge back up and get that man out of there!" Gaz yelled as he noticed the trapped bridgeman. Bridge 11 jumped, not realizing Gaz had come back when they'd dropped the bridge. They hurriedly lifted the bridge up enough to slide the man to safety, then carefully set the bridge back down. The fallen bridgeman, Kohl, groaned, putting his hands to his head. "You!" Gaz yelled, pointing at Kohl. "Yeah, the idiot who doesn't know to get out of the way when a storming bridge is coming down! You're lucky your head wasn't split open like a rockbud! Try to pay attention when you're carrying a massive, storming bridge eh? I can't leave you storming bridgemen alone for a minute without one of you storming killing yourselves," he grumbled, then stomped off. Kohl coughed, then stood up, looking very unsteady. The others pushed past him. One of them stopped next to him and whispered "Next time Gaz won't be around to save you." Kohl looked around, but his vision was blurry and he didn't notice who was talking. He rubbed at his head. Looks like the bump on my head is the least of my troubles, he thought as he slowly made his way back to the barracks. Megasif was lynched, but survived! Megasif(7): randuir, Arinian, BR, Drake, Straw, Darkness, Megasif Randuir(1): Unremarkable PM's are open. Player list:
  2. Day 6 Ellenie looked out on the Shattered Plains. The clouds had caught the dawn, and it was so... beautiful. It was too bad she was already dying. She had been pricked by something during the night, and she was a dead woman. No cure would be available for a bridgewoman, even if they knew what poison it was. She could feel the poison pumping through her veins. It was killing her, slowly. She was calm, so it wasn't moving too fast in her system. But her legs had already gone numb. "I will not die this way, " said Ellenie. She stood up, and her vision almost went black. But she managed to stumble her way to Honor Chasm. "I'm sorry," she said to the world, as if anyone were listening. And then she cast herself off. A much better death than being knocked off by poison. --- Not far away, Vendel sat, feeling quite pleased. His experiments were going wonderfully, and on top of everything, the social interactions of the bridge crew? Fascinating. He grinned as he took more notes on the poisons effects. He had learned Women's script a while back, but kept it to himself. It was a useful thing for him to know, and others to not know he knew. A few more days, and he could move on. He made a mental note to thank Ialai for the excellent test subjects. Lemon was killed! She was a Unlucky Eavesdropper! Randuir received the Unremarkable vote! PM's are closed. Player list:
  3. Yes, the inactivity filter is still being enforced. I haven't been able to keep a close eye on things, because of my laptop problem, but I'm fairly certain no one has gone 2 cycles without posting in thread/a PM.
  4. Night 5 Bridge 11 had been assigned to Chasm duty. They explored the bottom near the recent battle, to see if anything could be recovered. Manukosokunam had just found a broam, and was feeling pretty good. They would get an extra bonus, to be spent on booze. But then he heard an ominous "SCRrrrAAPPPE" coming down the chasms. His heart chilled. Fear overtook him, as he stuffed the broam in a pocket and screamed, "CHASMFIEND!!!!" The bridge crew ran for the ladders, which thankfully were not too far away. But the chasmfiend was fast. It trumpeted an awful noise, like screaming layered over screaming. The bridge crew scrambled up the ladders, but not everyone made it back up in time. They watched in horror as the chasmfiend ripped the man apart. Then they ran from the chasm edge, fleeing any possibility of being caught by the monster. Manukos was lynched! He was a Unlucky Unremarkable! Vote tally: Manukos(5): Darkness, Randuir, Lemonelon, Straw, BR Rand(1): Arinian Straw(2): Unremarkable, Manukos Darkness(1): Megasif PM's are open. Player list:
  5. Day 5 is over! ...An hour late. Sorry about that. Was having a B-day party for BR and rollover just completely slipped my mind. Night 5 will be up soon.
  6. Day 5 The Bridgemen awoke to a gasping noise. Annoyed, Locke got up to see what the racket was about. Sure enough, it was Ardenal. The man had always been too noisy. Locke prodded Ardenal, and hissed, "What the storms is wrong with you? Can't you sleep after a bridge run? With a storming WOUND?" Ardenal gasped, turning over. He was holding a shredded shirt to a fresh stab wound on his chest. "Nope," he rasped. "I'll be all right. It's just a flesh wound." But it wasn't just a flesh wound. Not only had it opened the earlier wound, but it had also hit a lung, probably. He was a goner. Who would have stabbed him anyway? Why? Then Ardenal spasmed. Locke realized how tired he was. He considered heading back to bed, but then Ardenal turned over and began to rasp strange words, not in his normal voice. "She will seek the friend, the one who forgot his name." And then Ardenal stopped moving. Blinking away sleepiness, Locke touched his neck. He was dead. The other bridgemen had watched on in curiosity, but now turned over and went back to sleep. Locke began to make his way back to his bed when a wave of sleepiness hit him. He suddenly realized- he had been poisoned. His knees collapsed, and he fell, throat constricting. The sleepiness turned into blinding pain. "Help me," Locke begged. But even if the bridgemen had stirred themselves, there was no helping him. Locke had no words to share as he died, his body full of pain and death. "To have survived so long and to die to poisoning, is just unfair," was Locke's last thought before he passed on. Orlok was killed! He was a Unlucky Eavesdropper! Striker was Assassinated! He was a Tough Unlucky Surgeon's Apprentice! Straw received the Unremarkable vote! PM's are closed. Upvotes to Steeldancer for another great write-up! Player list:
  7. Night 4 Bridge 11 ran. It was tough today. With less people, it was harder to carry, even with a few members of 17 helping out. Chasm after chasm. It was odd how rote it became. Run. Place. Wait. Pick up. Run again. Repeat. Rockbuds, the sky. The world seemed so simple, when they were running towards their deaths. When they were resting as the army crossed their bridge, they heard that the next plateau had the gemheart. That meant they needed to decide who went on the front of the bridge. As they scrambled to their positions, Pashul and Ardenul were shoved forward until the only place for them to go was the front. They didn't dare try to find a different spot. Slowing down the army here was an immediate death sentence. At least some had survived a bridge run at the front, even if chances weren't good. They heaved the bridge on their shoulders, exhausted from the long run, but adrenaline from the anticipation of the charge giving them the strength to lift it. Eventually they saw the plateau, filling them with dread. The Parshendi were ready for them. There was nothing else to do but continue forward. Arrows filled the sky as they pushed ahead. Then came the screams as bridge crews beside them were hit. Surprisingly, Bridge 11 didn't have a single casualty. They were close now, but the Parshendi were readying their bows for another volley. They reached the edge of the chasm just as the Parshendi released their arrows, and they heard grunts at the front of the bridge. Pashul and Ardenul both fell. They got the bridge set, then hurried off to safety, leaving the injured for dead. Pashul and Ardenul lay near the chasm, neither moving as Sadeas' army was preparing to cross the bridge. A couple bridgeman from another crew moved among the injured, and noticed that both Pashul and Ardenul were breathing. They hauled them over to Bridge 11 before they were trampled by the army. "Hey ganchos, you might not want to give up on these two so easily," a Herdazian bridgeman with one arm said to the rest of the crew, then hurried off to check on more of the injured bridgemen strewn about the plateau. Bridge 11 checked on Pashul and Ardenul, but amazingly couldn't find any serious injuries. Pashul had a small gash on his head, and Ardenul had a cut on his leg that must have tripped him up during the charge, but neither injury was life threatening. Miraculously, Bridge 11 suffered no casualties. Somehow, after what they'd faced these past few days, they'd all survived here, where death was most familiar. 8. Day 4 is over! My laptop isn't turning on, so it might take me a while to get the next Turn up.
  9. Everyone still only has one vote, but up to 5 players can be lynched. The players put at the front of the bridge will have a chance to survive. A fair chance if there's 5 and almost no chance if there's only 1. Only those put at the front of the bridge are at risk of dying.
  10. Day 4 The storm passed. The bridge awoke to Gaz slamming the door open. Horns played in the distance. "You idiots! Get up! You're on bridge duty, and the scouts have spotted a Gemheart! Out! Out! Now!" The bridgemen stirred themselves quickly, knowing that punishment would follow if they didn't hurry. All except for one man. Gaz stormed over to the his bed. "GET UP YOU SORRY CHULL-RIDDEN... oh." Div's face had turned purple. He was no longer breathing. He had been poisoned. "Well then, stop standing around, and MOVE!" Shouted Gaz. "I'll send some members of Bridge 17 to help you carry the bridge. They're too large, anyway." The bridgemen hurried to their bridge, and stood to deliberate who should stand where. Jondesu was killed! He was a Tough Unlucky Con Artist! Drake has received the Unremarkable vote! PM's are closed. Thanks to Steeldancer for the write-up! SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - This Cycle we're doing things a little differently. Considering you really don't trust anyone, your normal schedule for who goes in the front of the bridge is up for debate. There's 5 empty spots at the front of the bridge, and you all need to decide who goes there when you charge the plateau where the gemheart, and more importantly for you, the Parshendi, are waiting. You can place anywhere from 1 to 5 players on the front as your lynch, but understand that the more crew members on the front, the better chance for each of the individuals to survive the charge. Also, it's a long way to the plateau, so you have 48 hours instead of 24. A player needs 2 votes on them to be placed at the front of the bridge. Have fun! Player list:
  11. Night 3 is over! Cycle 4 is going up in a moment.
  12. Night 3 Gaz stormed up to the sorry Bridge 11, who were tromping back from the rock duty. "You! Deral! Didn't you hear that laziness will get you strung up? You either do things, or people will tell me that you aren't, and you can be given to the Stormfather!" Deral said nothing, staring blankly, as he had all afternoon. Perhaps he had been poisoned, or traumatized by so much death. Gaz cursed, and grabbed Deral. ---- The highstorm raged as night came on. Trapped in the barracks, fingers were pointed. "I bet it was Silver Feather. I saw him talking to Gaz. He probably told him that Deral was being lazy just to off another one of us!" A chorus of agreement came. Trying to reconcile with them, Silver Feather said "Yeah, sure I did. I told Gaz. But not to off another one of us. I just thought he would knock some sense into him!" "Well, let's let the Storm knock some sense into you!" They shoved him into the raging storm. And neither man's body could be found when the Storm abated. But the bridgemen couldn't seem to care. They had long since grown numb to the constant deaths. Roadwalker was lynched! He was a Unlucky Unremarkable! Eternum has died from inactivity! He was a Unlucky Con Artist! Vote tally: Roadwalker(4): Arinian, Jondesu, Roadwalker, Darkness Lemonelon(1): randuir Striker(1): Unremarkable PM's are open. Player list:
  13. Day 3 Bridge 11 trudged to a field of stones and set to work. Gaz had given them the hard job today. Not that they were complaining about not having to go on a bridge run today. But tempers were high, and suspicions everywhere. Traitors still lurked among them, and each bridgeman- and woman- trusted no one. And for good reason, for when their backs were turned, a rock was pushed onto Mortago. By the time they noticed, the perpetrator could not be identified, and Mortago was already dead. Many bridgemen did not sleep well that night. Sart was killed! He was a Unlucky Worldsinger! Striker has received the Unremarkable vote! PM's are closed. And once again, many thanks to Steeldancer for the write-up. Also, @Eternum has until the end of this Turn to post or he will be strung up in a Highstorm for inactivity. I haven't been keeping up with inactivity up to this point, but will be from now on. Player list:
  14. Night 2 Night was falling. Darkness embraced the war camp, as a Salas rose, casting a faint violet glow. But the call of nature waits for no man. And so Nerkel awoke, and carefully snuck out of the barracks to take care of buisness. Carefully, because they had been saying he had been poisoning the bridgemen. As if Nerkel even knew the difference between blackbane and lavis grain. As he pulled his trousers up, he had a brief sense of danger. He ignored it, and exited the outhouse. He saw the men, knew their intent. He had made too much noise, too much suspicion. He was desperate. He grasped for a strategy, anything that might save him. "I know who the rest of them-" The pain was quick, darkness claimed him, and Nerkel collapsed. The men who had knifed him checked his person for poisons, but he had none- on him or in his possessions. Walin was lynched! He was a Unlucky Eavesdropper! Walin(8): Manukos, Lemonelon, Striker, Roadwalker, Arinian, Jondesu, Walin, randuir Straw(1): Darkness Darkness(1): Straw PM's are open once again. Many thanks to Steeldancer for this write-up. 15. Day 2 Bridge 11 had decided that after what they'd been through the previous day, a night at a tavern was well deserved. They were enjoying their drinks, and a few of them had even struck up some conversation between themselves, happily forgetting their current circumstances. Div wasn't one of those. He sat in a corner by himself, sipping at his drink every now and then. Suddenly, he found he couldn't swallow. He collapsed to the floor, gasping and clawing at his throat. He started coughing up blood, then lay still. "D-Div, are...are you dead?" one of the bridge crew asked. One of Div's eyes fluttered open a little. "That's the stupidest question I've ever heard," he croaked. "It would take a lot more than that to kill me." "Somebody get this man another drink!" someone in the crowd yelled out. "I'll take anything besides what I just had," Div said, getting a few chuckles from the bridge crew. Most of them had dark looks on their faces however, as it was clear that there were more killers among them. No one slept very well that night. Jondesu was attacked, but survived! No more PM's.
