  1. Why wouldn't the Skybreakers have an alloy? The Recreance was far after the Shattering.
  2. If we are to assume that the super spren ("SS") originate pre-shattering, that gives us the two that eventually become the Nightwatcher and Stormfather, and the ten that were the Dawnsingers (yes I know this isn't confirmed). After the shattering, Cultivation and Honor do their thing and "adopt" the Nightwatcher and Stormfather, leaving the ten Dawnsingers alone since they are kind of a unit for lack of a better term. Odium comes along then, sees the remaining ten and thinks boom, I can "adopt" them too, but is limited because he gets stuck on Braize, meaning he can only "adopt" nine of the ten Dawnsingers. This leaves the 10th Dawnsinger, as of yet unaffiliated with a new Shard, to be bonded as the 3rd Bondsmith Spren. I could further think that perhaps the adoption of #10 was partially succesfful, but limited because of the cosmic importance of Braize and the #9, so does gain the "power" of being adopted by a new Shard and is on level with the Nightwatcher and Stormfather.
  3. I like this idea... being able to inhale stormlight and heal seems to be one of the most basic of abilities.
  4. You are not mistaken, he does give a stone of similar description, not identical, to Szeth in WoK.
  5. I believe you are referring to Axies, one of the Aimians. And I have no clue how to search for WoB about shadows, but I recall one mentioning something about a connection to the Cognitive realm being able to do strange things to a shadow; either that or I am imagining things.
  6. It's my understanding, that as a whole we believe that the Stormfather and Nightwatcher are the super spren of Honor and Cultivation, respectively. What if the 3rd super spren is of Odium? That's probably been discussed before, but i like this idea better.
  7. So here's another thought about the quality of the writing... We all enjoy Brandon's writing, else we wouldn't be here. What stuck me is that in the flashback, Dalinar didn't think and he was wildly successful in his role as blackthorn. Perhaps using similar tone is being used to present day Dalinar in a similarly confident light where he just knows what to do and doesnt need to be reserved to accomplish his tasks. Thinking about it, the Adolin section didn't seem out place, just Dalinars pov.
  8. Exactly, the Thrill made him a sociopath, not some inherent flaw in his person.
  9. I don't know if i would say not up to standard, but something seemed off, as if it was too.... easy to read? I've never read the Rithmatist books, but I do agree with the Reckoners comment. Is lacking sophistication in the prose a thing? (I'm not a writer, I don't pretend to be one, and don't think I could do better, just to be clear.) I know that the entire book is all sorts of huge, so I wonder if things were trimmed that weren't crucial to the story, but added to the 'quality" so to speak.
  10. A completely random thought, I wonder if the storm father is still going to be pissed at Kaladin. Now that Dalinar is actually speaking to him (stormfather) it might be interesting.
  11. Yolen does have dragons...
  12. Maybe the "champion" that Dalinar recognizes is that he simply sees himself in the Champion, as he used to be when he was in thrall to the Thrill. We have the flashback showing the effects of the Thrill, which may not be a coincidence. It could be showing him that ultimate victory for Odium comes when the KR are corrupted fully.
  13. If I remember correctly, either we postulated or it was confirmed that the glowing red eyes of the Dustbringers made the populace less trusting because of the perceived association with voidbringers, right?
  14. Two options come to mind... There are as of yet undiscovered levels, two to be exact... there's always another secret We are overthinking it or something like the Oathgates and the fields were considered the 19th and 20th levels.
  15. Dalinar is the Highprince of War, and they are most definitely at war. That probably comes with a host of granted powers / authorities.
  16. Apparently I need to pay more attention to Vorinism, but in general, is there a set of morals and values in place on Roshar right now similar to our generally Judeo-Christian set? I ask because what is moral for us, may not be moral for another civilization. I ask because if that type of action is condoned within their society, he wouldn't be considered "bad" by his contemporaries, which is what matters in regards to the book. We, as readers, are another story though.
  17. So I take this to have a couple of meanings 1) Less likely... that somehow the gods of the Parshendi brought Honor and Cultivation to Roshar after the shattering, or 2) He considers the Heralds to be gods, and they come as a result of the desolations. I have never paid much attention to Vorinism and who the adherents are, and where they ultimately stand with regards to the Heralds.
  18. One thing that has come to mind reading this thread is that Adolin could be more likely to become a radiant now that he killed Sadeas. Before this, I'd say that Adolin was very well adjusted, and lacking the kind of cracks that are necessary for the bond to form.
  19. Interesting conversation here, i have to echo that I found Jasnah's facial expression to be one of determination. I would support a Taln interlude just so Brandon could be toying around with the idea of an unreliable narrator. He could throw some serious curveballs at the readers going down that road.
  20. Not sure if this is the right place for this, but the line "She could not make it air again, her soulcaster only had one mode--not the full three. She did not know why" caught my attention. Any thoughts on what the three modes are?
  21. http://variety.com/2017/film/news/brandon-sanderson-snapshot-mgm-1201961935/ Just saw this online. Go Brandon.
  22. Lift made mention of a lucky sphere and tried to pry one lose in the"library". So maybe she has some instinctive ability to draw some in.
  23. Happy Munching to the man that brings us all here. And also to my daughter and two other people in my life that share this glorious day.
  24. So don't know how to search for this, but what's the deal with someone only having access to surge. Is it possible? Radiants have two surges each, but what about someone that isn't going to be a radiant, can they have just one?
  25. Is this discussion on skycolors from the prose version? If so, on the edge of spoilers.
