  1. I'm guessing, seeing as the Parshendi view them as gods, a few of the Listeners of them made a Form/bond with odiumspren on par with the StormFather/Nightmother/Cusicesh, elevating them to that level. I like the idea of the Unmade being tied to the Heralds torment. It goes nicely with the idea someone else posted that as part of the Oathpact, Odium must focus all his hate onto the Heralds instead of Roshar. my personal idea/theory is that that Black Sphere is a Dawnshard that has bound one of the Unmade, hence its dark appearance, seeing as we know from in-book they can bind anything voidish or mortal.
  2. Depends, can it heal something that is effectively an idea? Perhaps maybe in Shardblade form but even then I doubt it, seeing as spren only gained awareness through the Nahel Bond to Humans so i don't think that kind of splinter has the right substance to fill in the gap
  3. This...so much. I actually lol'd a lot. o.O very...well written and insightful post TwiL I feel it is a very good coming of age story, or even just an accurate representation of change in itself
  4. I bought the Necronomicon compendium/commemmorative version from Waterstones a while ago but have yet to read it. I do however have the Cthulhu Munchkin format
  5. That's why I liked his portrayal of the ancient dragons, as well that ones that never bonded with a Rider. If anything, the bond might be what makes the dragons more humanlike (early incarnation of Cognitive shenanigans anyone?) x)
  6. Reya: Hard to say. Weiry corrected me on something in regard to Reya's Tear (I think the OP was asking if Reya's Tear was linked to Cultivation/Honor and i said that questions around Reya's identity etc had always been RAFO'd) but apparently it was confirmed she isn't (don't take this is as official yet, can't track down the topic to link it) I wouldn't be surprised if Zahel knew, given the level his hidden advantage is at. I think it would allow him to see/check Investiture level. I think it was a mix but probably include something to do with the governing bodies of each spren species perhaps I had an idea/'theory'/question about Hoid's history with those in the Elantris forum (as you've seen) but i need to get on to the AMA and see if i can get confirmation of my thoughts first
  7. This...so much. That and when they're often portrayed as mindless beasts. So much ire is raised when that happens Why i loved Paolini's Alagaesia and Hobb's Raindwilds (not so much McCaffrey though) <3
  8. If i were to do an individual film-by-film thing, it'd be this; Iron Man 3: Charming yet a bit too long. House Party Protocol is an amazing trump card, and initially didn't like what they did with Mandarin, however the One-Shot improved my view of that Thor 2: I liked the cinematography of it, especially the dark/twilightish ambience. Told a more wider perspective story than the first one, which was rather an enclosed sandbox TWS: Definitely one of the best, granted just a smidge too long but it does play out well. That elevator fight scene (Y) GotG: I'd say this was better that TWS, but only by a slight margin. Enough sass, wit and charm to be funny yet not over the top. Not to mention that soundtrack! So glad they didn't ship Peter and Gamora. Liked Zoe's representation but wish it had been a bit more true to the comics, but that is probably more the writes fault. AoU: Amazing, heart wrenching. (I seriously hope that something is done to rectify this a la Infinity Gauntely!!!) I'll edit once i see Ant-Man
  9. The temptation to become a Brony and start watching is strong in this one
  10. Brent Weeks = Up there with Brandon as one of my all time favourite authors. My bath went lukewarm i was so engrossed in his work I just hate clichés. The Sword of Shannara, (sorry Terry Brooks fans, but i have to say this) despite his being able to write well, this book just had me bored senseless. It took me weeks to read instead of a couple of days and had way too many cliché character archetypes, overall i just found it very bland. The young farmboy/great hero trope/old visitor who is really a powerful sorcerer of legend. felt a little like was i was reading LotR to begin with. I didn't both with the rest of the trilogy
  11. Indeed, it is interesting. EDIT: I just think they're generally immortal
  12. For all we know, Endowment's holder could originally be a Dragon, which given Nalthis' penchant for austere and dazzling colours, and the way Dragons and their scales are, isn't a bad assumption to make
  13. That could be an interesting job, least i'd get to laugh at all the folks that visit her > Granted, you can understand everything related to the Cosmere, but you will never be able to speculate/theorise/communicate your thoughts of it through any medium unless it was to post HUGE spoilers I wish to start the Order of the Stick! (oh wait, that is already a thing. copywright) I wish to be a member of B.A.R.K/B.I.T.E
  14. THS, don't open that can of sky eels...it would cause another Shattering
  15. Hahaha, that would be a riot. Wit would have some fun with that. Hmm, i suppose you could be trapped in some halfway point between Cognitive and Spiritual
  16. Thought so. I knew she found that they were symmetrical but i couldn't if tell there was like an origin point the shattering or not. I'm definitely going for what i said above. EDIT: Been doing some more thinking. Seeing as Stormseat was dead centre in Natanatan, perhaps what caused the overload started at the Oathgate
  17. I'm currently on night shifts so i can't see it till next week. So hyped it is unreal. And yes to that spin off I actually liked all of Phase 2 although to be fair, i thought Ultron was going to be a bit creepier, a little broody and bit more malevolent from what was shown in the trailer. Not that i'm disappointed, but I was just surprised.
  18. Friends? What are these 'Friends' you speak of? Are they edible? When you have nothing else to do at work but constantly clog the forum up with posts
  19. Pfft, you'd think i'd care enough to even have a shardworld xD I'd just float on the meta-plane in some area of deep space. Granted, but when you do decide to become intangible, you can never form back to the Physical Realm, EVER. I wish to be Lift's protege
  20. Don't go there.. But yeah, sounds like it was just the bruising of fresh can of Rustwhoop
  21. I don't mind him, but on my last re-reads, I skipped his chapters mainly due to boredom because it was the same kind of stuff repeated but i'm kicking myself now because there was a few little things in there that kinda made me think 'derp, should of seen that'
  22. Not when both arms are making rude gestures! Besides, he's got cousins of cousins of cousins whos knows cousins for that sort of thing.
  23. Question; were the Shattered Plains shattered symmetrically? Or did they shatter in a random way? If the former, then my guess is, something immensely powerful caused them to vibrate well past their natural frequency, causing them to go boom/shatter.
  24. Apologies for the Necro, but the 'centre of a populated city as i <blank> planned' part could be 'had originally' or ' had Initially' planned'. At least, it makes sense English wise. And the [could] sounds more like [would] given she sounds sceptical
  25. Well now he can make two-armed herdazian jokes!
