I like the idea of how the Spren itself (and perhaps as a further event, the majority of the species would follow should they bond) is becoming/transitioning/reflecting the personal trait of the respective Radiant, further emphasising Syl's statement about how she's only as dead as his Oaths were. Nice thought Oudeis! I like that idea, Kelek's Breath, especially as it could fit with the idea of other possible side benefits from the Nahel Bond (apart from each order's relative passive ability).

Hmm, the killing someone then binding of cognitive/spiritual reminds me a little of Haemalurgy. Maybe it could perhaps be achieved by doing so or maybe even in conjunction with A few possibilities; A lamp (In the spirit of Endowment, Grant Wishes to those Who Ask?) A Carpet (Hover/Fly and support me) A pogostick (Never fall down when someone climbs on) A Kite (Always stay afloat) Deck of Cards (Be razor sharp) Some may work, most likely not though. would be interesting to see

Well it is explained in-book in regards to Kandra gender; Mistborn Spoilers Is that the WoB you're referring to Oudeis? That last part makes it sound like it is possible for Kandra to be attracted to both genders (perhaps this should be moved to another forum given the expanding ideas?)
-
It is an interesting subject, if a slight tangent. I do think it is a little bit early to be drawing conclusions just yet but I wonder, in the case of Spren's gender being assigned by the bondee/Observer, if cultural/environment influence plays apart (main example being the Stormfather)
-
Actually given the WoB even stated that Hoid had said that particular sentence in-book (Warbreaker, so Nalthis) so it might have been Sel interesting, very interesting

Adolin Radiancy? (Potential Spoilers)
ParadoxicalZen replied to FlatLine's topic in Stormlight Archive
Haha, that bit was for when you quote but i'd already rephrased the original post ^^ -
Well, there are a few things to consider/ponder; Spren's 'gender' in and of itself: Are Spren originally born/created without one and it is the Obeserver's Cognitive perception that decides/influences the gender? If so, what happens when multiple perceptions come into play and they don't all perceive the Spren in same way? If the opposite is true, is it possible that the 'gender' of Nahel Spren and that of their respective species influences the decision of potential Radiant candidates and their genders (meaning is their some benefit from bonding same gender/cross gender pairings)? Are even all of one Spren species even the same gender? Does the Spren receive any influence from their Radiant's mind like the Radiant does and would the result be any different if they had bonded a member of the opposite gender (akin to the way a Shard shapes the holder's mind to a much lesser extent) Given how long each Radiant has initially been bonded, especially in the case of the females, which seem to be a lot longer than the males, is there any particular reason for this or was it just happenstance and down to governing bodies of each Nahel Spren's species? Or perhaps it is purely just a result of Vorin/Rosharan cultural influence that the Spren are simply perceived as such? wow that got philosophic really quickly....

Adolin Radiancy? (Potential Spoilers)
ParadoxicalZen replied to FlatLine's topic in Stormlight Archive
Indeed we shall not....back on topic, I believe Adolin, irregardless of whether he becomes a main-main character (flashback/primary viewpoint), I do believe (confidently, about 90%) we will see more viewpoints, especially after WoR's ending, at least for the first few parts of the next book, given that Brandon wouldn't leave a major thread like this open for too long, so i'm predicting the resulting consequences of his actions will climax late first Act, possibly a bit of growth in the second & third, where we might see further hints of his future. Its kinda hard to ponder given how large Oathbringer will most likely be, seeing as there are so many under/over plot threads. This is how i could see Brandon playing it out -
Adolin Radiancy? (Potential Spoilers)
ParadoxicalZen replied to FlatLine's topic in Stormlight Archive
Ergo, few years older x). Although, Rosharan culture is rather different...*cringe* not going there I don't think he will to be honest. Not for his lack of trying to be honest, but i just don't see it. He's too...I can't find the right word...not quite independent, bah...i'll go find a dictionary >.> EDIT: Whoops, sorry Max, was editing for better response! -
Dawnsingers, Dawnshards and Dawncities
ParadoxicalZen replied to Beowulf25's topic in Stormlight Archive
If i can find the relevant WoBs, I think it was confirmed that Humanity underwent an exodus from the 'Tranquiline Halls' to Roshar which existed before Roshar methinks. We're not quite sure what the Dawnsingers are yet, but my bet is on a group Parshendi that have merged with Adonalsium-splinter spren or these same spren being bonded with Humans in a Nahel-esque way which led to Humanity living in relative peace and prosperity (Dawncities) for a time until the Parshendi started following Odium's path. -
Well I just read (WoB on theoryland that was vaguely referencing where he learnt his brand of storytelling along with another about how His brand of storytelling Given what we know of Sel + Aona/Skai now, it could where he learnt it Common Origin Interesting, very interesting....

Adolin Radiancy? (Potential Spoilers)
ParadoxicalZen replied to FlatLine's topic in Stormlight Archive
I personally would rather see Lift being Apprenticed (That would be interesting and entertaining if it was Jasnah) so she'd be still chidlike yet still quite mature in her totally, awesome innocent way. Also, when she's a few years older, Adolift? (I've been lurking around the shippers too long *groan*) -
There is actually a couple of gay characters in is his works (I'd completely forgotten about AoL and didn't know Drehy was but as I said, i believe it is a topic Brandon will approach in tactful yet possibly in-depth way that will do it justice when the time calls for it. Minor AoL spoilers

Could it be possible if Kaladin may also have been Rioted/Soothed if one of his few meetings with Hoid?
-
Greetings, more of question than a theory but was trawling theoryland when i found Brandon's post on the history of Aon Ene. For reference; Forgive me if I'm a little late to the party on this and if it has already been commented on but sound like anyone we know? An interesting bit of info So to my main questions/ideas/thoughts.... Your thoughts/ideas? (also if this is a bit too cosmere-y, can a mod move the topic please thanks in advance)

Adolin Radiancy? (Potential Spoilers)
ParadoxicalZen replied to FlatLine's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well, it looks like he's getting a flashback sequence at least, although this WoB is a little dated so it might not apply now. -
o.O O.o O.O Well, one thing about this is that, aren't Spren inherently genderless? and that it is the people's cognitive perception of them and in turn, their own, that makes them have a gender (?or perhaps an imitation of gender, given that they are just ideas/concepts)? That's how i thought it was anyway. Although it hasn't been stated (or perhaps hinted at yet) but I don't think sexuality, in general or detail has been broached regards to a Cosmere work (i could be mistaken, but off the top of my head it hasn't) but i think it is something Brandon will be eventually doing at some point (even in SA i believe).

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
ParadoxicalZen replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
two links; (both referring to the same WoB) http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6956-my-signing-questions/page-4#entry115299 http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6712-szeth-had-an-honorbladeor-did-he-spoilers/page-3 Another Hoid question but less RAFO material. In light of recently reading a WoB about Hoid and Kelsier not getting along, I'm wondering what may have happened between them to cause such animosity and if Hoid perhaps knows of Kelsier's current status? Seeing as he hasn't actually consumed his Lerasium bead (WoB hint), how does Hoid access Allomancy? Given that the Cryptic's Symbol Heads have been confirmed that they aren't glyphs (but we would recognise them), are they in another of the main series? Who might want to look for Vasher, Cosmere-wise that is also a Worldhopper (or has become a Worldhopper)? Final EDIT: Has Hoid ever Killed anyone with Wit? -
The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
ParadoxicalZen replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Only from WoBs, don't think so in-book but i'm due a re-read anyway so I'll see if i can find any examples that say if Szeth dropped his. -
True, but Soulcasting does require skill, which would then logically lead to precision. We know Jasnah is very strong willed and is all about maintaining a form of control,so along with the experience and practice (which she might well have gained), she could possibly able to do a number of feats that for example Shallan can't do (yet). Personally, I'm in the boat that she changed specific parts of the page but as to how, I'm not sure. We've only seen limited examples of advanced Soulcasting like these, but I'm thinking it is just the simple answer you gave; she is the most advanced/skilled Surgebinder we've seen as of yet, however she is also only the second we've seen using the Transformation surge so we'll see

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
ParadoxicalZen replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Ah but given the fact that Honourblades don't disappear when dropped, you could throw/summon it all you want...like a boomerang....a very sharp, overpowered, soul-severing, Stormlight-gulping, Honorblade-shaped boomerang...this makes for an interesting use of a live spren, like Lift and her 'Shardfork' ?Shardarang? -
I was under the impression that she was just Soulcasting fire with excellent precision, i mean this is Jasnah we're talking about. We don't really know how much initial Stormlight is required for a desired result but in regards to glowiness, couldn't Kaladin hold a small but fair amount before he began to glow, therefore she'd be able to transfer the Stormlight without being detected. her use of the Transportation Surge might not be as well developed as her Transformation Surge, in which she could have developed it to a much a higher level where she's learnt how to Soulcast incredibly quickly and efficiently, making the required Stormlight quantity a lot lower. Just a guess

Tangent: In regards to the Bonding of an Honourblade, IIRC it was stated that Brandon misinterpreted the original question and said it wasn't possible, they can only be given in that particular WoB then later corrected himself and stated it was possible in later clarification of that same WoB (along with another WoB stating further clarification/confirmation that they can be Bonded a few days later). Both WoBs are located on Theoryland. As for the powers problem, hard to say anything definitive seeing as we've only had slight descriptions in book of Honourblades plus their bonds and ?bondees? Main topic question: As for the "Taln's" Honourblade, we don't quite know if it was truly him/some doppelganger/Crazy Ned/someone believing they're him etc. etc. so between all of the Taln appearances, there is a serious Cluedo mystery going on. Was it even confirmed in "Taln's" appearances that the original blade he held was in fact an Honorblade?

Apologies for the necro, but i only found out about the anagram(s) a few days ago. I think i may have found something interesting; I was playing around with Gibletish and came up with Light Sieb (Typed Sieb into google translate so if its wrong/out of context forgive me) Sieb translated to sieve, with synonyms including screen and filter. What do we know of that involves altering/filtering/distorting/screening a perception of Light ....Lightweaving!!! A bit of a stretch, but was an interesting thought. (I'll retreat back to my little corner of the Cosmere now)

Adolin Radiancy? (Potential Spoilers)
ParadoxicalZen replied to FlatLine's topic in Stormlight Archive
Considering Brandon has so many front-runners going on in the first two books, Renarin is just a little underdeveloped given we don't have a lot of information about him yet. (Don't let Feather see that comment, she frightens me more than the Nightwatcher! Adolin isn't exactly minor, he's just not a priority at the minute given we've already got so much going on as it is (if ever though here's hoping )
