Who wrote the back cover synopsys of The Way of Kings book?
ParadoxicalZen replied to rtfirefly's topic in Stormlight Archive
Hence, the 'sorta' I've got my own ideas of cusicesh, but waiting on a question to be answered first -
Well, it would also have made for interesting banter between Kaladin and Lopen to see who could tell the best 1-armed joke (wait...Kaladin...tell a joke? What....?) Kaladin could have done with being a little less whiny and Shallan needed to a grow up a little quicker...but we wouldn't have much story then ^^

http://coppermind.net/wiki/Cusicesh Explains the 3rd known (sorta) godspren. From what i understand, godspren are large spren (possibly originating when Adonalsium visited or otherwise) that have a larger amount of Investment (bigger Splinters) compared to most other species of spren, as well as a great deal of sentience. It is also possible that the Unmade may be/have become Godspren but that is is unknown. -
Hmm, tricky context. Is he saying we've seen the Spren actually change into different forms or that we've seen Spren that have already changed/locked into different forms

http://www.reddit.co...g46nb?context=3 This is interesting....is it possible they just lived as cognitive shadows? http://www.reddit.co...fz482?context=3 O.O Say whut? Any ideas of where this happened?

Adolin Radiancy? (Potential Spoilers)
ParadoxicalZen replied to FlatLine's topic in Stormlight Archive
Actually, i think it might be the opposite Maxal, or at least, some of it anyway. In the case of Syl; if she was a pre-bonded spren before and her radiant died, I could see it being the fact that as there is no Radiant to give her the benefits of the bond then the memories/sentience will start to fade, which would explain why she remembers some things. Dead Sprenblades might be different than this scenario given that the bond was broken and not severed forcefully. I reckon that should a spren reawaken, the amount of pain they're in combined with the shock of suddenly becoming aware again, may cause the memories to fade a lot quicker, or at least block them out -
Well, Shadesmar is technically the Rosharan Term for the Cognitive Realm as a whole, and not just the Rosharan expanse, which makes me wonder, would Roshar have its own Expanse name from any of the other Cogntive world points? I'm not quite sure on what the Nexus'(Nexi?) are. When you compare the Shadesmar map to Roshar's map, Nexus of Truth matches up with The Endless Ocean, the Nexus of Transition matches up with the Reshi Isles and the Nexus of Imagination with the Southern Depths so it is interesting. As for the naming the expanses, this is how i think it is; Vibrance - Nalthis Broken Sky - Leaning to Sel, but maybe Braize Vapors - Scadrial obvs Densities - or even Threnody, given the abundance of silver

Depending on what 3D animation is like about a decade, I think it could work but then it would be harder to aim a 3D animation adaptation/translation towards a maturer audience without it getting silly. If it was done anime style, it might lean towards getting a bit too over the top should it become popular. Live action could work, providing the budget is fairly decent and acting above par. It would probably work best with 1 hour 30 min eps, given the expansive content (SA might be a bit too hard to adapt but we'll see what Brandon does)

Me...I'm just a Paradox ^^

What i think Hoser is trying to get is that, while Shards inhabit all three realms, they are more Spiritual than Cognitive or Physical and Investiture filters down from the Spiritual. As to the original point of 'spren are comprised of pure investiture...I'm not quite sure but i'd say they're mostly are, with possibly a slash of cognitive intent EDIT: Ninja'd by Edgedancer

For the OP. It is an interesting idea. If it what is theorised about Oathgates, Shardplate and possibly Surge fabrials is correct (that they are made from spren somehow), then it could be that Honourblades are also fabrials As for Nightblood, i agree with IamtheBeard's idea; artificial splinter. Perhaps a future question to be asked is; Would Nightblood be closer to a Sprenblade or an Honourblade?

There was another that more or less explicitly stated the fact, but i'm having trouble finding it# As for when he splintered, it was sometime after the Heralds abandoned the Oathpact

Whoops, looks like combined two separate sentences into one answer (lol given the conversation context) I meant to say that the seemingly random word part was in response to Argent but indeed, on the surface it is a pun but I remember a WoB about Hoid in which Brandon says to take very good notice of what Hoid says, especially in that conversation (someone realised Shardblade was an anagram for Balderdash)

YES!!! It was a bit slow to get going but it is pretty storming good. Pretty evocative and definitely makes you think a bit more. Got my blood riled riled up in a few parts. Hope it gets a second series

Why Odium Is the "Most Dangerous Shard"

Apoligies, may have misread what you were trying to say although It still seems to me like a subjective point so we may have to agree to disagree -
Why Odium Is the "Most Dangerous Shard"
ParadoxicalZen replied to Confused's topic in Cosmere Discussion
There are other WoBs in regards to the whole question; saying it is a subjective point, king of two countries is still a king yadder yadder yadder but this WoB, from what i can see, is the most recent regarding the actual question -

Why Odium Is the "Most Dangerous Shard"

In a further to this, we aren't sure 100% exactly how the bonding/selection process is done with Nahel Spren. Remember that statement by 'Nohadon' that not all spren are as discerning as Honorspren aka Syl (that isn't to say that those chosen by Honorspren before are 100% 'good' either) and even Wyndle mentions that it was the Council's decision for him to bond to Lift and not his, they don't necessarily have to be completely like-minded, more like as long as the desired quality is most prominent. Technically not true. There is a WoB (granted there are multiple on the subject which do conflict) on theoryland that is most recent saying that given Ruin and Preservation are now intermingled, should he somehow die, he would most likely drop Harmony I disagree on both counts. Emotions/Instincts/Intents are present everywhere; after all, all life/creation/existence is made from the same stuff and has the potential for anything everything else does and each Shard's Intent could also be argued as being present in all forms of life (granted, in different measures, but that doesn't mean Odium overwhelms all) I believe it was via WoB that Sazed could will himself to another planet but not without major effort, which i believe to be the result of the investment in Scadrial (Rayse/Odium is scared of the fact that Sazed has/had two Shards/one Shard but double the power, but because the Intent(s) of the Shard is a precarious thing to maintain, he sometimes finds it difficult to act) Again, the cognitive aspect defines how the spiritual aspect manifests physically. A Shard that has invested in the planet would not be on equal footing with one that isn't, purely because the investiture in the planet is in the planet and not with the Shard. It is similar to the way Ruin couldn't have gained his full power back until he had manifested back on the Physical Realm and physically reabsorbed the mined Atium -
I'm watching Overlord at the moment (along with catching up on FT, One Piece anime and Nanatsu No Taizai Manga) It is quite an interesting premise if a little loose first episode

Well, it could be that originally their gods were just odium spren of Stormfather/Nightwatcher/Cusicesh level but for them to have proper influence/direction, they bonded with a small group of Listeners. EDIT: Going by this quote from the Diagram I think either two things; perhaps this could be the first parallel to the Nahel bond of spren and humans, akin to how these spren gain the capacity for thought/intelligence (as is rumored in one of their songs) or my original assumption could be correct and the inherent Listener bonding process is the cause and the Unmade were the result of a few Listeners bonding those of megaspren level (but lacking more in cognitive awareness), which could explain why the Unmade have a such a large prevalence/influence and the ability to think of sorts EDIT 2: Perhaps edit your OP with rumoured/nearly confirmed names of the Unmade Brandon seems to have adapted names inspired by Demons/False Gods used in Abrahamic teachings (from coppermind) so in that vain i managed to find a couple of possible ideas, highlighted by <> Nergaol is suspected of causing the Thrill - Nergal (Babylonian War God) Moelach is Death Rattles - Moloch (Carthaginian God who liked the sacrificing of children) Re-Shephir - Midnight Mother - <Resheph> (closest I can find is a Canaanite God of war and protection from plague, but perhaps I might be linked more to a fertility God, I'll do some more digging) Yelig-nar, the Blightwind (sounds Cthulhu-ish but nothing on that front) Dai-gonarthis - The Black Fisher - <possibly Dagon> (East Semitic Mesopotamian God of fertility who later evolded into a Northwest Semitic God of grain and fish/fishing)
-
I guess it depends on the view. Earlier WoBs say it is a more subjective view but i'm of the opinion that the possibility of conflicting/tricky to mesh Shard Intents will still mesh but it might just take longer (as well as competent Shard holder to take them up)

Why Odium Is the "Most Dangerous Shard"
ParadoxicalZen replied to Confused's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I woudn't say it limits the power directly, just the Shard's influence/ability to use the power they have at their disposal. to its fullest potential (unless that is what you're saying). If a Shard hasn't invested itself in a planet or particular area of space, then you're dealing with a force beyond imagining and even if a Shard that has invested itself anywhere, it is pretty powerful by itself, but they're by no means omnipotent, the amount of power each Shard contains is most likely finite, given the Cosmere still abides by the Laws of Thermodynamics, albeit with a twist (there's even a WoB from the AMA about a 4th Law applying only to Adonalsium!) I think one of the main reasons that defines the extent of a Shard's power is the Intent of the Shard itself and how the power is applied by the holder. Preservation and Ruin couldn't create anything alone because it goes against both of their intents/natures. (I agree with the more eloquently worded viewpoint by Iron Eyes above me) Or i've just misunderstood the whole post and you can ignore my blathering It is a nice idea though
