  1. Well, if anything, they never reveal much on UK covers. This is for WoR as well...
  2. Anyone wonder why the sun is so big in the cover? Made me wonder if she's visiting Ashyn... Assuming it is Roshar, I give up. It's a very non-revealing cover. She's not wearing any regal dresses, so I am assuming she hasn't reached any Alethi lands...
  3. Good find... but I am sticking to the theory of the greater good being the reason why KRs abandoned the post. And perhaps that logic being pushed by Ishar or others
  4. The day of recreance fits in nicely with Nale killing KRs to prevent desolation. I cannot fathom any other reason why KRs would break their oaths at the same moment and leave shards. Same time, same place. The KRs must have believed more good would come from them relinquishing the spren/shards then continuing. Perhaps they figured out that the Heralds had broken the oathpact. But in such a case, some would have protested and would have vowed to continue with more fervour. So, I believe that KRs would have believed that greater good was for them to relinquish the spren. How would they have figured it out? I don't know. Perhaps Ishar intervened directly, or he left a message via some other method (power to send visions ). But, the day of recreance seems to have some twisted machination to it.
  5. Presumably Ishar told the top Stonewards that it was the last desolation (refer WoK prologue) - and now they needed to heed to the chief of Bondsmiths, aka Ishar. In the end, it appears most heralds went to Ishar for guidance, and in the absence of Taln, the Stonewards were also guided by him. I can imagine Ishar calling all heralds and KRs for a grand meeting with compulsory attendance, and then the KRs then doing a mass recreance event on Ishar's advice. Otherwise, there'd be a KR dropping off shards here there & everywhere. For them to en masse deposit it at a particular point means they assembled together first. (That'd be a cool question to ask Brandon)
  6. Sorry - but who are the stewards? I did check on coppermind and no SA ref there at a cursory look
  7. I firmly believe now that the day of recreance happened because of Ishar. He went loco and said no more Nahel bonds. So, all the Heralds instructed the KRs, and that is how the ideals were broken, the spren killed and shardblades surrendered. Basically, KRs come into existence when desolations happen. So, Ishar went around eliminating KRs to ensure desolations don't happen. Like treating the symptoms not the cause.
  8. Shades of minority report...
  9. There was a WoB somewhere saying the heralds are corrupted in one way or another and each Herald's corruption is unique. So, Nale's was the lack of feeling/emotions, so Ishar's can be misguidance/tunnel vision.
  10. I saw that Apocalypse Guard was on 9% the other day...! So that's going to be the next book!
  11. It'll be interesting to see what it might be, given that being a KR I assume he will also be practically un-killable with stormlight healing powers.
  12. I saw on brandon's official site's store that if you buy the hardcopy for Shadown beneath, you'll get the ebook free. I think for ebooks, places like Amazon also charge by taking a big cut. I checked on Amazon, and they take 70 percent on self published works... I would say that if possible and acceptable, then most people should buy directly from BS's official site.
  13. Audiobook purchase, and also an ebook companion this time... straight away (but not via pre-order). I do have both for the other SA books, but I got the ebooks later. The poll didn't quite cater for the audiobook scenario
  14. I really like the idea of Adolin in exile novella. I think he'd so fit the mould of Odysessus and doing some kind of sea journey... eg on a boat to Aimia or just getting to Shinovar via the long route from the sea...
  15. Rysn - I am guessing more interludes in OB, but there are a number of characters that can get a sole novella. The criteria I am using is that they are a slightly away from the main narrative. Ghostbloods Sons of Honor Zahel One of the Heralds without a dedicated book Aimians as mentioned earlier
  16. Well, I can ask beta reader for other book recommendations, coz there aren't too many original and good fantasy novels around... most are just twists on dragons & wizard/witch magic.
  17. Oathbringer is on 100% copyedit review on BS's site. Does that mean it's all done now?
  18. One Shard dead or dying... another one imprisoned. And a plan by the former to beat the latter as a final checkmate. Did we see a similar plotline in a different series?
  19. Kvothe... the name, the delay and the bloody oath!
  20. Better still, get him as the finishing writer for ASIAF series... get in line for the first officially signed copy
  21. Most of the protaganists are really young or really old. Kaladin is 17-18, same for Shallan and with Lift who knows. Plus, if you think of actors ages for sequels, you'd want people who can't look any older for Dalinar and really young for others.
  22. Sigh... on not coming to Melbourne... but anyways, I am planning to be away on holidays anyway on those dates. The organiser better have a good reason though... Melbourne is a much bigger city than Perth and would have generated more publicity than Perth.
  23. I don't agree with a view that being broken was a precursor to attracting spren. Shallan and Pattern were there together before the incident with Shallan's mother. In fact, the signs Shallan was showing precipitated the incident. Similarly, I think there was a scene where Kaladin wondered about the edge he had even when training in Hearthstone or after joining the army. He also says, along the lines of winds always being with him and claiming the wind. Yes, they all got broken in the end, but, what really could have broken Jasnah been the various murder attempts, including the last one.
  24. Good pick up. Before that, it was "soldier" only to Kaladin
