  1. We don't see him use it, but he needs a breath each week to survive (granted, he can survive on a stored treasure of breaths, and he had quite a few, but he'd have needed more by the time we see him on Roshar most likely. We only know he's used Stormlight to keep himself alive because Brandon said it at some point (in an interview or signing, I don't recall).
  2. Finally finished Morning Star. Wow. I'm gonna be feeling the loss for a while. That was one intense story. Spoilers:
  3. So...I think I found a good candidate for Steelheart himself. Not as big and physically imposing as I usually think, though he could bulk up some, but Simon Baker could really pull off the demeanor incredibly well, I think:
  4. I think that's very typical, but he wouldn't necessarily plan on getting those somewhat larger books done. Novellas sometimes just spring out fully formed, but the Mistborn books he'll want to run through the team and make sure the science and continuity is all there, so it's a process even once he's written most of the book.
  5. Last December, Brandon said: He certainly changes things at times and seems to just "accidentally" write novels on occasion (no idea how he can do that), but I wouldn't expect it before 2018. Let it be a pleasant surprise if it comes out next year somehow.
  6. Actually, my understanding is that Eshonai is book 4 and Szeth will get book 5. Obviously that could change, though.
  7. Guess you didn't see my latest post (hey, that's what happened with me last cycle, basically!). I didn't think Doc should die, so I wanted to break it and only get Aman, not Doc. Even Aman is convinced I'm village, btw, at least to a reasonable degree. I only have an hour left to live, though, probably not enough to convince enough people to switch their votes. If anyone is on, though, I meant it for the best, I thought I was doing the best for the Skaa!
  8. I told you, I genuinely thought Doc was innocent. I didn't want to just retract and let him die. I liked the way he'd been posting and what he was saying; apparently I was just fooled.
  9. Bah, I didn't realize I created the tie (I miscounted) and then tried to get help fixing it because I thought Doc was innocent. Apparently ya'll aren't convinced though, and it's probably too late to change anything. Just sucks that such a little meaningless thing is going to get me lynched.
  10. And yet, TenSoon switched Blessings, and even used both sets for a time I think (he had OreSeur's Blessings of Potency, along with his own Blessings of Presence, IIRC). It didn't seem to affect him at all to switch.
  11. Woah, I go away for a few hours and I've got votes piling up on me... I can't quote and respond individually, but let me address some of this. Yes, I PM Wonko and Lopen and asked them to help end the tie. I'd worked with them in my first game so I was more comfortable reaching out to them. I was pushing Aman because I honestly didn't think Doc was Elim, but I was wrong about that obviously. I do agree that Aman wasn't a high priority target; my point was that he'd have had no reason to expect them to take him out, yet he was talking as though it was all but guaranteed. For him not to be killed just made me suspect it was a gambit to make him seem innocent. It's something I might have tried myself, though it does seem clumsier now as I look back at it. I still am not done thinking about Aman, but perhaps my gut was working quicker than my mind.
  12. Hmm, that's fair. Now they'll have to choose who doesn't use their allomancy so they can put in a kill.
  13. That completely changes a lot of my thoughts on Frost. I had that all mixed around.
  14. Hmm, I just had a thought occur to me that fits well with this theory. So it's generally accepted that the bulk of a Shard's power is "in" the Spiritual Realm, their mind is basically the Vessel's mind, albeit shaped over time by their Intent, and that lives in the Cognitive Realm, while of course they have various Physical Realm manifestations depending on the planet where they're located. What if destroying the mind, the Vessel, causes Investiture to flow from the Spiritual Realm into the Cognitive because it's attempting to fill the hole left behind? Think of a container with multiple chambers, filled with water. If you empty one chamber, and there's any type of opening, water will try to flow from the others into the empty one. I think power tends to flow from the Spiritual, through the Cognitive (where it is shaped and given purpose) into the Physical, and then from there it does whatever it's designed to do before being recycled back into the Spiritual. That means there's already a "hole" from the Spiritual into the Cognitive, so if there's a vacuum of Investiture in the Cognitive because the Shard's mind is destroyed (by killing the Vessel, or whatever other methods might work), it'll suck the Investiture in from the Spiritual. It's not like water, though, and doesn't naturally stick together, especially during a traumatic transition like that, so you get lots of pieces, or Splinters. On Roshar at least, many of those Splinters, the Spren, also leaked through into the Physical Realm in many ways, providing a release valve and keeping the Cognitive Realm relatively safe. On Sel, there's no release valve, so all that power is just bottled up and rushing around with nowhere to go, making it the dangerous place we know it to be.
  15. I always thought that quote was from the Letter from Frost to Hoid. Am I misremembering? Hoid wasn't always "functionally immortal", so it makes sense then.
  16. Seriously, compared to my first game (MR17), that was a blink. I'm gonna have to check the threads more often so I don't lose track. Nice to catch an Elim first round. Of course, the village got one first round in MR17 and we Elims pulled it off that game, but I can attest to how much scrambling was involved each time we lost someone. I imagine the Nobles are similarly reworking strategies (though sadly he was roleless, so we didn't deprive them of anyone useful). I'm not clearing anyone in my mind who voted for Doc, but at the same time, it wasn't a runaway vote like we had with Bugsy in that game, so those who voted for him weren't just throwing him under the bus because everyone was gunning for him, so they're likely clear. I'm still a bit suspicious of Aman, and he didn't get taken out by the Nobles, which actually makes me more suspicious. Thus, I'll just start this off with a vote once again for Aman.
  17. So terrible. An amazing book series that we all love getting turned into a series of interconnected movies, all done by fans of the books? How could they? /sarcasm
  18. Wow, I forgot about this so far today, so I'm barely squeaking in under the wire (these quick cycles will get to me). I'm honestly having trouble following and keeping track of the changing votes. The logic about Aman is tracking the best with me, though, and while Ecthelion hasn't been cleared in my mind yet, I don't want this first vote to risk a tie, so I wanted to throw it further to someone who already has some votes as well. Edit: it's the logic that he's likely a safe lynch if he's a villager who just can't participate, and if he's playing himself up that way to reduce suspicion, he also should probably go.
  19. I'm leaning towards Lopen being clean, considering I worked with him in MR17 and saw how he operated then (when he wasn't entirely clean), but it's more of a gut read than a specific set of things he said. Ecthelion is coming across lynch-happy, which can be normal for some people and not for others, and I haven't played with them before. Under the circumstances, I'll say I will simply check back in tomorrow morning after a (hopefully) good night's sleep and send some PMs, and see what I can figure out. Feel free to PM me, anyone, though of course I can't respond to more than 3.
  20. Howdy. Like my last game, my participation may fluctuate, but I plan to try to be fairly active and actually voice my thoughts. Which, so far, of course, is that I'm just going to have to wait and see what happens.
  21. I can buy that, since he wanted to use it instead of tin, but the actual metallurgy made him change his mind to keep everything consistent.
  22. @Rao-seeker, all I can say is keep reading. Edit: oh, and you would have been better off making a new thread at this point and requesting no spoilers for the books after AoL.
  23. And I only know that from other threads. That's how this works, so keep it up.
  24. Right, I meant in its original context. That would likely have been distorted, but with the right Vessel? It could easily have remained benevolent, until the death of Skai, and then at that point we see the Skaze emerge, the Fjordell religion, etc, all using pieces of Dominion (I believe Jaddeth and/or Wyrm are splinters, and we know Skaze are) seperated from that guiding mind.
  25. Topaz is a name Hoid has used previously according to a WoB.
