  1. Personally, I don't know why you remember that either.
  2. You guys have confused my poor brain It's okay, I still love y'all
  3. Of course. This is the issue. (Unless you *meant* for your characters to look slightly off. I mean, you could do some interesting things in a world where everybody is supposedly perfect.) I think that, until we reach that perfect point - it will probably happen someday - it would be best to take real people and have them act, then use CGI to modify their features until they look right. I mean, look what happened with Gollum, Snoke, Rocket, Groot... although those modifications are more extreme than what I'm thinking. It wouldn't be too extremely difficult to have a voice actor record the lines and the actual person actor pretend to speak them. Somehow. There are multiple ways you could swing that. Perhaps you could take detailed 3D models of a few people you like the look of and combine them into the perfect "actor". Someday in the future.
  4. I think that's true, but... in a few years (or even right now!) we might have technology capable of animating characters that actually look like people. I mean, Disney could probably do it but they like their stylizing. (Mini side note: I can't wait for Moana in November. Have you seen the beautiful animation of the trailers? It's SO AWESOME) Anyway, my point is that maybe someday, if we wait a bit longer, we might be able to get the best of both worlds - animation for truly impossible feats and the perfect "actor", but have it seem real in a way that only live-action has done so far. I think it would be awesome (unless it already happens... that might be the case, tbh) to get the people who would design sets, costumes, props, makeup, shots, and everything else, then have them work on this sort of animated film as if it were a live action. That would make the "real" aspect huge. Animation right now is essentially making models move on a model set then positioning the virtual camera. It's not that unrealistic to be able to do this, I think. (Admittedly, I'm not an expert)
  5. Granted. You gain super speed for a day and read the entire forum. Now you have nothing to do. Your bane: when you run, you're now somehow slower than if you walked. It's maddening. I wish that my father did not have to leave on that business trip for six weeks (seriously... it stinks)
  6. Granted. Bane: everybody except for Sharders are now incurably annoying to you. There are definitely consequences on your life. I wish for a complete set of Sanderson books. I hate not having some and wanting to read them
  7. I'll take this. Seeing as I never grow anything anyway. Granted. And it's awesome. Your bane is that you can never travel via airplane ever again. I wish for good grades this coming semester
  8. Granted. They're awesomer than ever now. Every time you go into a store, you hear a high pitched buzzing nobody else can hear. It's definitely really annoying. I wish whatever food I want in whatever quantity I desire appeared in front of me with no work on my part.
  9. The stuff that stuck out to me in Well of Ascension (forgive me if they're not actually from it) and strike me as trailer like are these: when Vin is experimenting with metals and uses duralumin to fly out to Breeze kandra stuff koloss Vin storming slicing the dude in half PLUS HIS HORSE the wedding vows Sazed uses Sazed just being done with skaa not learning things Marsh armies Elend lecturing and being all awesome in front of the assembly Vin's giant killing spree on Cett's army with Zane In all honesty, there's a bunch of great stuff that's trailer worthy. you're the master of those though so I'll just throw a bunch of that at you and letcha untangle those controller cords
  10. My first thought for Alloy of Law would be something involving Miles but anything I'm imagining would probably be too gory for a poster! You could also be artsy and have one in the style of the old Wild West movies and get that aspect of it down. I imagine the world slightly steampunk, too, so you might be able to do something cool with that. And then I took my own suggestion. How about this?: it's a really rough and not very good sketch but I'm pretty happy with it so far. Big title, lots of little words. Glittering high society bottom right, cities at night plus some mists bottom left. Up top, an realistic (but not too much) painting that might look like an advertisement for a Wax and Wayne story if they had those, part of it burned away (so charred looking diagonal split) to reveal less saturated but alluring paintings below, make sure to balance the colors so it's not top or bottom heavy. Lots of little Easter eggs you could stick into this one: giraffes, railroad car or tracks, metal symbols, bullets firing, Steris in the crowd looking lost or something... I could go on. It was fun to draw and hopefully fun to imagine
  11. Thanks, and uh... No way am I getting involved in a DC v Marvel thing, so: here, have a variant
  12. In light of THIS beautiful article I present to you: Brandon Sanderplant Bonus: A fish stick wearing a mustachioed knitted cozy on top of a potted plant
  13. A bunch of my friends have this sort of thing going on. Then again, we live in the very heart of LDS Utah so... Lots of kids are the norm here Also this is a teeny bit old but I still want to say... You're beautiful I guess I gotta put me in here too now...
  14. Granted. The maximum amount you can spend on anything is $100. Layaway becomes your best friend. I wish for a barbecue
  15. @Sunbird, @Stormgate, I have a new favorite fan cast. Thanks for that!
  16. Well, @Shadeshadow227, I guess you get them. Your feet now cannot stand any sort of shoes except for sandals. No boots, no tennis shoes. It's not that bad but your feet sure look funny in the winter when you have to wear socks. If you had not remembered to ask for a boon, you would have gotten all the banes up until this point. Since @I_am_NOT_fire saved you, they get that curse instead. SEE WHAT BEING NICE DOES TO YOU, PEOPLE OF THE SHARD?! *ahem* That being said, I wish I could have a continually updating planner that works perfectly for my needs.
  17. Granted. An extra day is added to each week and called "Skyday". Nobody really knows why. However, it throws off the calendar and now nobody knows how old they are. Bane: Lightbulbs cease to work around you, though they aren't broken and continue to function when you leave. This applies to fluorescent, incandescent, and whatever else I'm forgetting. Strangely, LEDs work. Spoiler tag for off-topic I wish that my phone and laptop batteries would never die. (I mean so I never have to charge either device ever again)
  18. Granted. The Nightwatcher believes you to be worthy of this boon. However, it is still her custom and right to demand a bane as well, so... from now on, you cannot smell anything. Slight tangent: I wish I could walk through walls and become invisible.
  19. Wow, @Doctor12. You've thought about this. Reading it felt familiar somehow, as if that's exactly what my brain thought of for a trailer, too. I like how you sort of set up audiences for loving Kelsier. Mwahahaha. My only nitpicky problem is what @kenod pointed out - Mare's not a Smoker. You could substitute it for a shot of Clubs doing the same thing or the entire wood shop protected by a visual bubble thing. That doesn't give the same emotional tug as Mare and TLR but hey. It never occurred to me that each magic thing would need some kind of visual clue in a movie - like, duh, of course it does. I like the way you imagined copper for sure. Great job all y'all
  20. I had barely heard of the WW movie before reading this two minutes ago... it looks great. I haven't seen a whole ton of really awesome awesomeness from DC (not that I've really been paying attention) so I hope that this one will fulfill expectations. I really like the actress they got for her, though. I think she's got the right look. I'm not familiar with WW's origin story, so I can't say anything as to its correctness in that way, but I kind of enjoy the fact that the "today" part of the movie happens during WWII (or is it WWI? I can't really tell and am too lazy to research it). I hope that they are able to differentiate their war from the Captain America one. This move has hurdles to overcome but it looks on track to win.
  21. I'm just gonna jump in here after saying that I love the new mobile site. That's my device of choice and it's awesome. Thanks for that. Anyway, I found a few little issues, all for mobile. 1) I accidentally clicked a quote button on the "You Know You're a Sanderfan When..." thread, tried to delete it, and the quote box won't go away. I tried to reload the page and everything but nothing works. I took the screenshot tonight. I can't see the blinking typing cursor or type or anything. As you can tell, it's been quite a while since this came up and it hasn't gone away yet. 2) I haven't figured out how to edit spoiler tags yet. When you click "edit", it will have a visual version of the spoiler tags but I can't tell how to edit them. I accidentally nested a few once and wasn't able to change it so I could un-nest them. Sorry if these have already been addressed. I love this new design and am so grateful that there are people like you guys willing to put so much time into making it awesome. Two thumbs way way up for all y'all.
  22. So... I just saw the topic title and did a something. Then actually came in here and realized we were doing descriptions instead. Oh well. I'm sharing anyway. And just so you are aware... I went a little overboard. They aren't all the same ratio because oops, and they aren't all that great but I had fun and that's all that matters. (I'm sorry. Something isn't working right. I didn't write the spoilers correctly and don't know how to edit them accurately. Once you get into the first spoiler tag you should see the other two. I didn't mean to nest them!) Era 1
  23. @Drake Marshall... Wow. Was not expecting that. It's awesome! Kudos to you for thinking that hard. Anyway, @KnightRadiant: wish granted. You are a Windrunner on Earth and the Nightwatcher even throws in Lift's ability to metabolize food into Stormlight, to avoid the "powerful but no batteries" thing some may have given to you instead. However, since she technically gave you two boons she will take two banes as well. Now, whenever you write on paper, the words disappear as soon as you forget about them. In addition, any words on paper you read fade each time you read them. It will take six readings to make them disappear completely. Libraries hate you if they could only figure out it was you doing it. I wish that I could change my clothing by snapping my fingers.
  24. Granted. The chasmfiend is lovely and will live as long as you do. You even ride it to work/school/wherever you happen to be going. As your bane, everything you touch from now on will bleed into grayscale, including your skin but not anybody else's. You look scary. It's kind of cool though so hey. I wish for a perfect ability to play instruments.
  25. Granted. Pies now appear whenever you wish them in whatever flavor you specify. Yummy pies for everybody. Your bane is that now you can't see the faces of human beings, unless they're in some kind of picture or sculpture. But pies so yay. I wish for superpowers.
