Long Game (3)2: Pulling on Strings

LG32: Night Ten - Studying Dear Herwynbe, As you read this, others should be on their way to you right now. Now, this is not the time to ask ‘How does he know?’ or ‘Why won’t he help me?’, but rather ‘What have I done to deserve this?’. Of course, the answer to that is that you murdered a few innocent civilians, however you can die knowing that I approved of your actions. You would have been a fine citizen of Fadrex, if it wasn’t for the bloodlust. However, this next paragraph will be for all the people that helped kill little ‘ol Herwynbe, as Herwynbe will surely be dead by this point in time. If you look to your left, you should see a few corpses. Now, unless I’m horribly wrong and need to correct my mistakes, each corpse should be a family relative of the living. Yes, they’ve been dead for a while. It’s surprisingly easy to maintain corpses, when you get enough practice. Unfortunately, I didn’t get enough time to place them artistically, so I’ve made it so you have to shuffle through them to try and find which one is your relative. Hope to see you soon, The Court Fool Herowannabe was lynched! He was a Regular Spiked. @randuir, I can back up Seonid's claim to have attempted to protect Lopen - I usef a line of making on him last night, which returned that he used a line of forbiddance. Although definitely not a hard clear, it is some evidence in favour of his being village- 368 replies

Mid-Range Game 21: The Battle for Nebrask
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Sart's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Right. I have not been well, have had a lot of work, campaigning in the election, and running LG32, as well as a diet making me constantly tired, but have now largely recovered. I will read through the thread tonight, although I can't promise analysis in my usual depth. For now, though, I will note that suspicious ought to be cast on Aman, and to a lesser extent on Randuir. It is an unfortunate fact of SE that active, strong villagers are frequently killed early in our games, but it is a fact regardless. For a village Aman to be left alive to this cycle is unusual. We ought to take into account that it is more likely that Aman is left alive this late when he is evil than when he is village. The same can be said for Randuir, who whilst not as feared, has been more active. To be clear, this is not an accusation, at this stage, but merely an observation. I will focus my analysis tonight on Aman, Randuir, and Jondesu.- 368 replies

LG32: Day Ten - Lessons in Civility Dear __________ We write today to bring what We imagine will be unwelcome tidings to the majority of you assembled today. A body was found this morning, and in a rather vile state. Whilst We certainly appreciate the effort being undertaken to convince Our Fool to return, We would note that Our sensibilities are rather more refined. For those of you who would see one more dawn break, We would suggest that any future lynches or skulduggery are performed in such a manner as to leave the minimum of sanguine fluid present. Incidentally, if any of you do not wish to live another day, We suggest in the interest of the wellbeing of your loved ones that you make the greatest efforts to ensure sanitary conditions are left following your demise. Your compliance is appreciated, The Lord Tekiel TheMightyLopen was killed! He was a Village Tineye. PMs are now closed. Player List 1. Arinian - Alrin 2. Hemalurgic Headshot - Quinn 3. LG32: Night Nine - Ritual Sacrifice Dear __________ It is with great sadness that We write to inform you of the renewed absence of our wonderful Court Fool. I would ask you all to keep him in your thoughts and prayers, but it would be suicidal of you not to be thinking of his whereabouts, and unusually brave not to be praying for mercy. We note with satisfaction, however, that you have made a sacrifice appropriate to his interests. This bloodletting, however distasteful, lightens his mood without fail. To the great many of you, I would offer congratulations. You have succeeded in lynching another of those who seek you harm. We wish both parties the best of luck. You have all provided Us with some deal of amusement. Do carry on, and make it spectacular. We will be rather irritated if you fail to convince the Fool to return. LG32: Day Nine - An Exciting Party Dear _________ Do you expect me to go on about some ‘You did X…’ or something? Well you’d be wrong, because I’m not gonna do that. Instead, I’m gonna talk about what I did. I didn’t kill anyone recently, which I’ve been told is not good for my mental health. ‘Course, the person that told me killing was bad is now dead, after I realised how wise they truly were. But that was not that long ago, so everything is fine now. I actually ended up taking some art classes! Apparently I’m ‘gifted’, according to my teacher. The art speaks on a deep level about the tragedy of the death of The Lord Ruler, and how people overcame that disaster. Don’t know how they got that from a carrot, but clearly I’m not that artistically talented yet. Sadly I must now take my leave, my next art piece is going to new a few litres of blood, and I don’t particularly feel like donating. Until Next Time, The Court Artist Tineye Message: Hello everyone! Its-a-me, Lopen the Tineye! Sorry for not sending more messages, but I was afraid I'd get converted and then I'd be in a tough spot. But, I figured since the Inquisitor can't convert right now, this would be the best time to reveal myself. Hopefully I'm not dead. Also, sorry to those of you who I lied to. There was a way to figure out my lie though, which I actually pointed out to some. My vote was Rioted Day 1, meaning I couldn't have turned my Coppercloud off yet. So, if someone had figured out my lie, I had decided to reveal my true role to them. I claimed to Mark very early as Tineye, but he went inactive, so I decided to keep my options open. Anyways, that's all I have to say, unless I'm still alive of course. Player List 1. Arinian - Alrin 2. Hemalurgic Headshot - Quinn 3. Jondesu - Remart - Spiked Coppercloud 4. Right. Apologies again for the paucity of my posts recently. Working through the thread so far then, I have some questions. @TheMightyLopen in your first post, you both stated that you believed there to be 3 eliminators, and that 5 lines of warding would be sufficient each cycle. Given your proposal of 5, it seems to me like you’re fairly certain in your belief - why? 5 lines of warding isn’t very conservative at all, and would not be sufficient with 4 forgotten. I’m mildly suspicious of you for advocating this. @Silverblade5, you suggested that we either use lines of warding, or protect those who are. How do you suggest those not using liens of warding identify players to protect? @Paranoid King, you also appear to be certain that 5 lines of warding is enough - I’m mildly suspicious that you’re supporting a narrative agreed with Lopen. Given the risk of forgotten and non-rithmatsists in the first 5 players, why did you think your plan would be safe? @TheMightyLopen, your second post, to me suggests a plan that would materially increase village odds of success, although does draw near the idea of dictatorship. I’m somewhat less suspicious of you following this post. @Silverblade5, your vote on Straw seemed like an eagerness to be seen to be doing something - I believe he posted before all roll PMs were out. Why did you not engage in the discussion that was ongoing? @randuir, you mentioned an alternative plan to coin flipping. I’d be curious to hear what it is. @TheMightyLopen, a futher thought, given your defence of accountability. Doesn’t it also give the eliminators information as to when their partners are warding, allowing for better timed lines of vigour? @_Stick_, just before I voted for you last cycle, you mentioned that someone in the original planning was likely to be evil, but then said that you hadn’t spotted anyone making a plan that seemed helpful, but wasn’t, which you claim is what normally makes you suspicious. Why make your statement without any evidence? @Amanuensis, I’m interested in why you voted for Straw. Given we’d previously established the importance of an information generating lynch, voting on a player not known for long posts doesn’t seem to me to be the best way to generate discussion - why did you do it? I’m about halfway through D1, and making good progress. I need to do LG32 rollover, and have promised El not to do analysis past midnight, given my experience in AG3, but aim to be on top of the thread by the end of tomorrow. Thoughts from the analysis so far are: A moderate village read on Elenion - he’s made a few excellent suggestions regarding organising the village defence, particularly which redistribution, which harms the ability of eliminators to focus on one of the two warding groups A slightly milder village read on Aman, who has been sensible throughout, and has seemingly made an effort to generated discussion with his own posts. There is a difference between sensible analysis and alignment, clearly, and as always I’m wary of Aman, but analysis so far and my gut read suggest to me that he’s village. I’m wary of Lopen from the posts I’ve seen, mostly for the reasons set out in the questions I’ve asked him above, but not significantly so. I’ve already mentioned a minor suspicion of a narrative being pushed by Lopen and Paranoid King, but think that on balance it’s just my being paranoid. Again, I’m nowhere near caught up on the thread, but did want to contribute what I could to discussion.- 368 replies

LG32: Night Eight - Abandonment Fears Dear __________ I have the rather unpleasant task of addressing you today, in the absence of the Court Fool. I gather that he’s grown bored with the recent dearth of interesting fatalities, and that he disappeared off in the direction of Luthadel muttering something about families. Regardless, The Lord Tekiel, revered father to us all, the unparalleled majesty, and he whose generosity ensures our continued security, is growing rather… despondent, without the calming influence of our Court Fool. Of course, the rumours about insanity and megalomania are nothing more than fabrications, but if morality remains in any of you, I suggest that you provide sufficient entertainment to incentivise the Fool to return before Our Blessed Ruler decides to begin experimenting with his subjects, again... Mid-Range Game 21: The Battle for Nebrask
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Sart's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Hemalurgic_Headshot, just skimming the thread, and will have a longer post as soon as I can, but in my mind, a reasoned and thought through vote before the end of the cycle is far, far more valuable than a bandwagoning vote. What information does a random vote give us? Substantiated votes tell us about the thoughts of the player making them, which we can use to construct a picture of their innocence or guilt.- 368 replies

@Darkness Ascendant, I'd refer you again to the post I made early in the cycle, in which I postulated that we needed to lynch an eliminator by Turn 3 to avoid a conversion (I hadn't considered acid specialists, but the point stands - we don't want to use it if we don't have to). Do you disagree with my thoughts on timing? How would you propose we gained information? If we don't lynch someone on D1, why would D2 be any different?- 368 replies

Orlok Tsubodai replied to Sart's topic in Sanderson Elimination
That doesn't read to me as a terribly helpful comment, Stick. Would you care to substantiate your view further? Comments like this dissuade people from getting involved in planning and active discussion, which both limits the effectiveness of the village actions, and makes it more difficult to find eliminators. @TheMightyLopen, apologies, I'm at work, but will respond to your post as soon as I can.- 368 replies

Mid-Range Game 21: The Battle for Nebrask
Orlok Tsubodai replied to Sart's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Further thoughts. Again, somewhat rushed, as I'm on a lunch break, but potentially worth discussing. I think we need to be conscious this game that there is a high potential for a form of dictatorship. There are strategies this game that we could employ to severely handicap the eliminators. If players were paired up randomly, and alternated drawing lines of warding or making against their partner, we could halve the actions available to the eliminators, through forcing them to draw lines of warding every other turn. Such a strategy, however, relies upon removing player autonomy over their actions. Personally, I'm strongly against dictatorships in SE games, and raise this only for the discussion it might bring. I hope I've been overly pessimistic with my analysis of the game's timeframe in my earlier post, but even if not believe that we'll all get greater enjoyment out of the game if we get to play as we want to for a few cycles, rather than without freedom for longer. @Darkness Ascendant, what thoughts do you have on the mechanics or the posts in thread so far?- 368 replies
