I'm feeling somewhat impulsive, and worry that this discussion is potentially heading down the wrong path. I detained Paranoid King during the night, thinking that there was some credence in Meta's thought that PK was using the anti-spike group as a distraction, and thinking that he was a strong enough character that he may well have determined the kill were he evil.

Alternatively, PK has decided to cut his losses and avoid saying anything else incriminating, which would be a sound strategy if he thought the lynch impossible to avoid. It's entirely possible that he is planning on changing his vote at the end of the cycle in a hammer.

Right. Apologies for not noting Lopen's question, @Seonid. It seems apparent to me, given detainment does not bring protection, that Paranoid King was indeed the individual who submitted the kill.

They didn't succesfully kill one of us. That is a very different position from not having tried. It is possible that the eliminators were gambling on a detainment, and that they hoped for this situation. @Seonid, if conflicting kill orders are submitted, do either of them go through? The simplest answer, though, is that the lack of a kill had something to do with Paranoid King's detainment. Not attacking me for my arguments doesn't make me any more inclined to trust you. It's not alignment indicative. If I'm right, and PK and yourself are evil, going after me would be far too obvious. Yes, I believe that you are correct in thinking that the kill would have gone through if a different eliminator submitted it.

@Seonid, if an individual detained was attacked, would a failed attack be noted in the writeup? My view is that the simplest answer is that @Paranoid King is an eliminator, and was the eliminator responsible for submitting the kill. Paranoid King's actions last cycle do seem to me as creating a role whereby he can seem active without having to engage in finding the eliminators. I will also note suspicion of @The Flash. "Evil Ventures" seems overdone, an attempt to seem village. The implausibility of the suggestions you offer - inactivity, being exposed, seem to me to be a cover for PK having been the attacker, making it but one option of many.

@queensteph, I'm trying to understand the events of the cycle Aman died. Did you attack Aman? @Cluny the Scourge, did you attack Aman? It would also be interesting to know who attacked Brightness that cycle, and who attacked Brightness last cycle, if anyone feels like claiming it?
-
@Arinian, I doubt that we'll be able to touch her for a number of turns. Eventually, though, an assassin would help, and protection for yourself might be useful?
-
Shall we look at evidence, rather than rely on luck? Aman was one of the most obvious villagers in the game, and was attacked by someone attending the university, which makes it significantly more likely, to me, that Steph is evil. If someone else attacked Aman, now would be a really useful time to claim that attack.

@Paranoid King, is there a reason you seem to support killing Brightness over killing Steph? If we do believe there to be a dichotomy whereby either Steph or Brightness must be evil, then only Cluny or I can kill Steph, and we can't expel her, given she's a master. In such a situation, all I can think of is saving up enough for three assassins between the two of us, and have additional assassins set to block her going to Imre. In this situation, it makes sense kill Brightness first, before going to these lengths. However, I have a stronger village read on Brightness than I do on Queensteph, and if we are indeed to attack Queensteph, we're going to need nobles left alive to buy assassins.

@BrightnessRadiant, thank you very much. That's extremely useful. I'm really not well, and didn't sleep last night, so am on sedative antihistamines tonight. I'm unlikely to be able to analyse this tonight, but hope to do so tomorrow.. @Burnt Spaghetti, @BrightnessRadiant, @queensteph, what are your high level thoughts on the living players?

As some of you may have gathered, I have an appallingly weak immune system. I'm currently quite unwell, which will limit my ability to analyse in depth. I have a pretty significant amount of the thread to read through in detail, particularly on the Brightness/Steph topic. I'd appreciate summaries of the last few cycles, if anyone has the time, both to get information, and to see individual stances on what's occurred.

I'll sign up as Locke Tekiel, a scion of a thoroughly reputable noble house with absolutely no interest in infiltrating House Conrad so as to seek to frustrate the efforts of House Venture, whatever they might be, for it would clearly be beneath the dignity of such an esteemed house to do such a thing...

Orlok stared at the girl who had just come up and proposed to him unexpectedly. "Um... sure?" he said, hesitant but incapable of refusing the pleading in her face. Her face lit up with joy, and his confusion slowly turned into a smile. He still hadn't the faintest idea what was happening, but so long as she was this happy, he couldn't help but be glad in response. Elbereth. I'd like to apologise to everyone for not having been active this game. My health and stress have been consistently very poor this last week, but I'm now somewhat better.

I'm really struggling with my medical situation and health, and feel awful about the impact it's having on my activity. I will try to catch up on everything tomorrow, but wanted to apologise to everyone for my current inactivity.

Due to health reasons, my activity this game will be lowered substantially from recent games. I will endeavour to participate as much as I can, but am conscious that I need to focus on regaining my health.

Apologies, all. I've had a busy day with work, and the cycle started at midnight my time. I'll look at Bridgeboy, and indeed the rest of the game properly, as soon as I have time. At a glance, though, I'm wary that there are parallels with the Ripple Debacle. As I recall, Rippleglyf mixed up the names of the village and eliminator teams, and was lynched for it, as a villager. That's not to say the present situation is the same - I haven't had time to look at it properly, but newer players should be aware that this sort of mistake can be made without being alignment indicative.

Apologies, all. I'm unwell, and am exhausted. I'm not well enough to analyse the thread.Sart, Sart, I haven't read your explanation properly, and will get to it when I'm better..
-
@Jondesu, I believe that Arinian was expelled last cycle, so voting on him will be somewhat ineffective. @Sart, I'm leaving my votes on you, pending thinking through your explanation properly this evening.
-
@queensteph, I've been elevated three times now in Sympathy. There's no way Arinian could have used Malfeasance and been protected. I'm not quite sure where the advantage in that would lie, anyway - the eliminators would have to use an assassin either way, and would sacrifice a bodyguard needlessly in so doing. I suspect the law of contraposition is more likely. Given Randuir was, a time least to me, very obviously a villager, I'm not sure why Arinian would seek to redirect actions to Randuir. @Arinian, did you redirect actions targeting you to Randuir, and if so, why? What made you believe Randuir to be suspicious?
-
Right. Apologies, all, for the lack of posts. Doing the analysis this game takes a lot of time, and I needed a day off before I go back to work tomorrow. There are two plausible reasonable for the lack of a sabotage this cycle. The first is a double-tap, and is fairly obvious. Randuir had been posting a lot, and I had hoped he'd bought himself a bodyguard. The second reason is that the sabotage was submitted by a player staying in Anker's, who failed their action last cycle. Of more interest, I think, is the information we gained last cycle. I don't have time to write out my thoughts on each player, and indeed have not analysed the last cycle fully. I may not do so, depending on the length of this cycle. I'm struggling to balance this, my job, and free time, and am trying not to endanger my health. I do, though, want to have a look at Sart. Prior to last cycle, his activity has been very limited. He made four posts in T1M1, and only RP in T2M1. Last cycle, however, his activity seemed very suspicious to me. Sart looked at elevations, and then voted on me, demanding to know the field I was elevated in. I'd like to know why you thought asking me was a good idea, and how it benefits the village? It was 1:15am when I answered, and I almost certainly should not have, but your question both narrowed down who people elevated in dangerous fields are, and gave me a choice between risking expulsion, or being targeted myself, for fear that my field was dangerous. Indeed, I am fortunate to have received Malfeasance, which adds some degree of risk to targeting me. What were you trying to gain from asking about this, other than making it seem like you were engaging in the discussion? Your only prior post of note was in T1M1. You seemed far too eager to vote on Queensteph for calling Haelbarde Hael, which read to me as lack of care as to the results of your actions. Sart, Sart. I'd like to hear your explanation for this, and think it worth putting pressure on you to generate discussion. I would add to everyone that Randuir's absence doesn't mean we should stop talking. Yes, he made 51 of the 364 posts made by the end of T2M1, and certainly generated yet more discussion, but the rest of us are capable of analysis, and do very much need to generate information. @Drake Marshall, @Straw, @Arinian, you are all still capable of adding opinions to this thread. @Straw, would you care to provide opinions on all players you didn't analyse last cycle?

His Imperial Majesty, he who I am honoured to address, my future self. I write, as is now custom, to remind you of our journey. The keystone of this month, of course, is our elevation. I told you of the complaint we received last term, made as I understand by a student envious of our glory and majesty. I will have my revenge upon them, when I discover their identity. I trust, in your omnipotence, and righteous anger, that you have also taken action to make an example of their family, as is fair and proportionate? I eagerly await discovering what we have done to them. I was summoned to the Horns, following the complaint. We are fortunate, however, to live in enlightened times. The Chancellor, whilst weak willed, is capable of recognising my power and potential. Perhaps hoping for mercy when I come to rule, instead of punishing me, elevated me. She's entirely wrong, of course. There will not be mercy, but it is entertaining to watch her seek it. The chair of the psychologists' society contacted me, today, suspecting unusual behaviour in my mind, and wishing to observe me. It is greatly pleasing to me for another to recognise the magnificence of my mental functions, and it will be an honour to demonstrate my superiority to them. I hope that they can learn from studying me, and that we can raise a new generation of Vintish children cultivated in my image. With warm regards, and wishing you an entertaining day, Locke Alveron, in the second month of our second term at The University.

@Straw, I understand that you might be worried about analysing, but at the moment it looks like you're trying to slip through the net, and avoid saying anything controversial. Could you give us your opinion, and an explanation, on the rest of the living players?
-
@Straw, if you're prepared to put so much effort into a game, why not provide opinions on players? What do you think of Drake, Sart, Arinian or Alv?
-
@Sart, I'm a Re'lar in Sympathy, with Malignant Sympathy Protection and Malfeasance. Not sure why being elevated warrants a vote, given I'm a Cealdish commoner, and have already been on the horns. I'll be lucky if I can afford tuition at all this turn, let alone if I end up on the horns again.
