  1. Nope I completely get it even though this relationship creeps me out (like Peter Pan and Tinkerbell hooking up) I understand why people like the idea of it.
  2. Fair enough but I don't get it from that scene. It seems pretty clear the person he is reminded of is Tien. The rest of it sounds the same as any of their other interactions so I did not read into that anymore than the previous ones.
  3. What about Azure?! They have the soldier bond and stuff
  4. Not me. He showed her the rock like Tien use to collect. Tien cheered him up when he was around he is saying the same thing about Shallan.
  5. Yeah they did I just don't think that has to do with her mental maturity. She was bonded to a KR before Kaladin and slept because of the pain of here KR dying.
  6. I thought her current mental age was because of her being in the PR and regaining her sapience slowly. Also just a point of correction 4 millennia would be the breaking of the oathpact so it is probably close to 2 millennia after the recreance not that there is a huge difference between 2 and 4 millennia.
  7. Yep Brandon said the back 5 are pretty much all about the Heralds. I think he said something like some are Heralds and some think they are Heralds. Edit here is the WoB I was thinking about.
  8. Same way I took that that he was thinking of Tien which fits with the rock. Ok for some reason the Syl and Kaladin romantic thing completely creeps me out. I'm guessing because she was introduced almost as childlike. I know she is REALLY old in actuality but it still creeps me out.
  9. @Stark you just beat me to the punch I was going to say Lyn. Ash is interesting as well but I think they are two like each other to work. Ash seems to be traumatized for letting the people of Roshar (or at least Taln) down by abandoning them. At leas that is my take on the whole destroying likenesses of her self because she doesn't feel like she should be worshipped.
  10. I really like the Veil depiction
  11. Possible but I feel like the Unmade pre-date KR. No proof on this and would be a great question to ask Brandon. In world the the author of Mythica thinks they do. Of course this is a pretty contemporary in world book and she may be wrong.
  12. Brandon has said they are spren as well as splinters of Odium.
  13. May Aladar! Actually really hoping to get more Jasnah. More Szeth/Nightblood/Lift would be very welcomed as well. I am really trying to convince myself I care about Venli and the rest of the Listeners but it is hard. I do not know why I just have a hard time caring about them. Hoping book four changes my mind.
  14. Llarimar's daughter is described with golden hair as well. I agree with you though that this is a good indication of Nalthis possible even decedents of returned. I
  15. This is the #1 reason I do not think it is Odium. Of course I guess Brandon could leave it open ended as Hatter suggest and then we have to wait until book 5 for confirmation that it was in fact Odium but I just don't see Brandon doing an 8 year cliffhanger. I dunno maybe Brandon could pull it off somehow but I think AU and the letters in OB is foreshadowing that Odium is not the only Shard in the Cosmere mucking up the works.
  16. I think this is mostly mentioned to show the contrast between Alethi and Iriali. As in it is as significant as Shallan's hair being red because she is Veden, Yellow is only one of the colors of royal locks. Now they very well could be from Nalthis I just do think there is a connection to the royal locks.
  17. Yes I get where you are coming from. There is a difference between drawing a bow and being able to shoot one. It is initially learning the proper stance and form then takes skill and practice to produce accuracy. I teach archery to Boy Scouts and we work a lot on stance and form then I'll match a proper draw weight. Some kids can easily draw a 50lb bow but they have a lot more control with a 25lb. On a long bow you want to start the draw pointing the bow up and then lowering as you draw this uses both arms to draw instead of just one. It literally takes a minute to demonstrate but agreed this is just the ability to draw it. The thing is we know Rock is a good archer so it is not about skill but the strength needed to pull the shardbow. So let's say you are a very skilled archer and weigh 100lbs dripping wet. Chances are you are not going to be able to draw a 250lb bow no matter how skilled you are (just throwing a number out there I have no idea what a shardbows draw is). So strength is the major factor and no amount of skill will overcome the task if it is physically impossible to do so. Unless there is not that big of a difference for Rock to draw a Shardbow compared to a regular longbow (like the difference between a 70lb and 80lb draw) then I would conceded that skill and familiarity may be enough to compensate but from what we know I do not think that is the case. All that being said we do not know the following 1) Exactly how much strength is required to draw a shardbow compared to a regular longbow. Is it 50% more, 100% more or 200% more? 2) How much stronger is Rock than a normal person. 3) How much (or if) stormlight increase strength. Edit: Just to add my opinion if it is not clear I do think he was using stormlight to shoot the bow. I think that was pretty obvious from the scene @Vianki posted with Rock glowing with stormlight. The question to me is if he also used surges and if so which ones. I think he did just not sure which one. Not sure if it is relevant but a shardbow is not just a really big bow it is a fabrial and I wonder if this also has soemthing to do with it but no idea what it would be.
  18. While I agree with the accuracy part which does take skill actually drawing a bow has a lot more to do with strength than skill. It takes about a minute to show someone how to draw a bow. I can easily draw a 70lb bow but my 10 year old son even knowing how to draw it cannot but has no problem with a 20lb draw.
  19. I've stayed out of this thread mainly because I do not have an axehound in the fight. I rank romance very very low on Brandon's skill set so I never expect much. I've also only read the last couple pages of the thread obviously the fandom is divided I think this is the biggest OB thread. I will say though that everyone that was disappointed in how the love triangle was handled is well justified. My only redeeming thought here was I liked how Adolin was willing to step aside for Kaladin. Albeit for all the typical male insecurities that I do not think really matter to most women. Still it showed a level of respect and brotherhood between Kaladin and Adolin that was the only thing I liked about this whole situation. I very well may be interpreting this incorrectly and it was supposed to show Adolin loves Shallan enough to let her go to be happy with Kaladin but I like the brotherhood thing better and choose to interpret that way.
  20. Got mine today too! The letter is a nice surprise. Edit: So I’m glad you opened your letter because I didn’t want to break the awesome wax seal on mine so I tried reading it while it was still closed. Much easier reading yours lol
  21. These are really nice Shire Post Mint did a great job! Who else got theirs? Post some pics!
  22. He did give Oathbringer to Dalinar but I wonder what he does with the plate and other blade.
  23. I'm also wondering if it has something to do with sensing the Unmade as he tasked Shallan with seeking out the "worngness". Maybe the ability to sense corrupted investiture?
  24. Shallan is such a train wreck I cant help but enjoy every time she is on screen. I didn't really like her much in tWoK but liked her a lot on WoR and that continued with OB. That being said through part 1 and 3 she did seem to be steeling the spotlight a bit but other than that I felt like this was completely Dalinar's book especially part 5 he owned it.
