Mid-Range Game 13: Treachery on the Terris Peaks
Paranoid King replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
It looks like Kynedath was left behind (Makes sense, he got 2 votes in the lynch) and I took a fall. I don't see any evidence that a rockslide happened.- 278 replies

Well, I don't have any particular reason to vote for lopen, so I'm switching my vote to Kynedath, who hasn't posted and hasn't given a reason why not.- 278 replies

Mid-Range Game 13: Treachery on the Terris Peaks
Paranoid King replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
We need votes in the first round, and nobody is really suspicious in the beginning. This leads to votes with weak reasoning, just so we can get some discussion. In the write-up, it is stated that Lopen is the nephew of the expedition sign-up person, so it would make a better story if he was evil, because nobody expected it. So really, I'm voting on Lopen because if he's evil, it'll be more dramatic than if anyone else is evil.- 278 replies

1 year ago: Cannon Fodder surveyed the city from the outside. So this was the location Falchion had chosen, eh? It was a bit . . . larger that he expected, not to mention better guarded. Trust Falchion to make his life more difficult. He sighed, turning back to his plotting. Falchion could portal in, bypassing the security entirely, but no other epics could use his portals, meaning that Cannon Fodder needed a more mundane way to enter. He could have some of his minions make a disturbance, but he doubted the security guard would care. Killing the man would draw far more attention to him than he cared for. And just going through the proper procedures - Well, he didn't want to do that. Because nobody would take him seriously. He needed some time to set up a working operation without having to deal with other epics. He sighed again, burying his head in his hands. And then it hit him. A brilliant plan that would get him past the security guard, allowing him to set up without being known. He waved his hand to the side, and a minion appeared, dressed in a mottled green and yellow uniform, a gun strapped across his back. Cannon Fodder raised an eyebrow. He had never seen that costume before. Perhaps it was from a foreign country. His power selected random people to copy, closer people being more likely, and he expected that he'd need several tries to find a person with a costume like that. No matter. "Confidently follow beside me," He instructed the minion, and it sprung to life, moving to his side. *** The security guard had a name. He knew it, but had been instructed to forget it. "Rustin' waste of my talents," he thought to himself wryly. Still, his queen had requested his current assignment, and he would obey his queen. Perhaps if he did well enough, and he'd be promoted. Or maybe they'd just see what a good security guard he was. Bother. He pulled himself out of his current situation, focusing as two people moved towards the gate. One was dressed in bright yellow and green, exuding confidence, while his companion was dressed in humble gray. Despite his modest appearance, the second person had an aura of determination. As they approached, the security guard stood up, addressing them: "You two gentlemen are about to enter an epic-controlled city, governed by the high epic Rainmaker. Before you enter, you must answer a few questions." The Gray-clad person spoke. "And if we don't? Never mind, I can guess. You won't let us through the giant bubble." "Correct. Now, are you and your companion both epics?" "No. He's an epic who is unable to speak. He has a mental bond with me that allows me to speak for him." "Interesting. Very well, then my other questions will be directed at him. Name?" Gray hesitated for a moment. It was slight, but it didn't escape the security guard's attention. "Blink." "That's...Rather unoriginal. Pre-epic name?" "Steven Brown." "Powers?" "The aforementioned mental bond, and the ability to change his own appearance." "Does he have a weakness?" "No." "...okay." The security guard set down the pen he was using to take notes. "That will be all. You'll have to wait for a few hours before the bubble drops. While you're waiting, I'd appreciate you showing your power, so I can be sure you're what you say you are." Grey reached for Blink's arm, and Blink dissolved into smoke. A moment later, he reformed, slightly shorter, wearing blue pants and a black shirt with a slogan. He carried a pair of pliers in his hand, and his face looked completely different. Gray whispered something into his ear, and he resumed his previous confident attitude. The security guard drummed his fingers on his desk. several things were . . . off about this pair. Things were always strange around epics, but their attitudes were especially unusual. Gray had the usual blend of emotions, but Blink was nothing but confident. And right after renewing his disguise, Blink had no emotions whatsoever. Motioning for the pair to sit on a bench nearby, the security reached for the phone. He had a name. And soon, people would know it. *** The scheme had gone off without a hitch, and the security guard suspected nothing. Ha! This town wouldn't know what had hit it. Cannon Fodder strode through the opening in the bubble, "Blink" at his side. Oh yes, he had plans for this town. He didn't know if Falchion had arrived yet, but he would set up a base, and if Falchion was around, he'd find his way to it. Cannon Fodder would gather influence with other epics, and when he found an earth epic willing to work with him, he would - His thoughts were interrupted as a bullet flew through the minion beside him, dissolving “Blink” into smoke. He heard the sound of muttered surprise for a few seconds, then another bullet sped through his own shoulder. He screamed, falling to the ground, and everything went dark. It seemed that things had not gone according to plan. Not according to plan at all.

Bother. Things have been going on, and I haven't been very active. Since the banker can spend points much more efficiently than most people, unless you have reason to suspect your team's banker of being a government agent, giving your points to your team's banker is a good idea. I suppose people could steal points from your bank, but given that the banker's actions are twice as efficient as anyone else, I'd say it's worth it.

Lamoni stumbled down the alley, and paused at an intersection. Where was he going...? He knew he had a destination in mind. But it was just so hard to... His head hurt. Maybe if he just lay down right here, it would all be okay. He wasn't important. He didn't have a name. Why was he even here? Wasn't he going somewhere? When did he sit down? He needed to get up. He needed to complete... Something. He needed to remember. But it was just too... Too... His eyes closed. You guessed it, I'm still drunk. I don't see any reason to vote for anyone, because I'm as likely as not to hit my own team. It's late tonight, but maybe tomorrow I'll figure out who is acting suspicious so far.

Agreed. I'm opposed to that plan for a few reasons:1: there is already a command structure in place. Those in their own structure can just PM each other, and reveal membership without any chance of being spied on. But I'd rather not do that either, because... 2: government agents are part of the group. Giving them set locations to find out who is in a group? Bad idea. I suggest that people just PM their immediate leaders to suggest strategies. Everyone is connected, everyone can work together without knowing who they're working with. This plan might be difficult to implement at first, (although it's better than the "group meeting" plan,) because of... 3: Drunks. These people don't know which base to start out in. They could choose a random group and not be blamed for it, but when they remember who they are, they'll happily defect back with all the info they've learned. Although they still wouldn't know who to share it with. 4: Different areas have different powers. Scientists, for example, will be worse off than anyone who goes to a government building. Restricting a group to a location means that you also restrict their actions. This being said, *hic* I are heavily opposed to dur plan. As a drunk, I'm giving an unbiased opinion. Edit: two people posted before me. I think that people in the command chain know who is below them, but now who is above them. If the group is organized with one commander, two captains, and four regulars, in C1, the commander pm's captain 1. Captain 1 will pm regular 1, regular 1 pm's regular 2. Meanwhile the other captain is pming his underlings. C2, the commander pm's captain 2. Now everyone knows who's just above them in the command structure, and from then on can communication with their superior.

Current Epics: Planned Epics:
-
"City Hall: In City Hall, you can attempt to steal any number of points from another target gang bank. There is an X% chance you’re caught and put in jail where X is based on the number of points attempting to be stolen. (Actions for the next cycle will not go through if you are jailed.) People voting during the lynch residing inside the City Hall will count twice." Do the points stolen/chance of being caught correspond exactly? For example, if I try to steal 10 points from another gang, do I have only a 10% chance of being caught? If I go to Jail, do I still get the points? (Probably not, I'm just clarifying.)

I just didn't like your face For the most part, you sounded like you were trying to be active without being that helpful, but at the same time, you were playing a bit differently than you had in other games. I'm not sure I can put my finger on it, but you seemed like the best option.- 311 replies

Long Game 18: Holly and Iron
Paranoid King replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Delta strode up to the front desk of the library. The security eyed him warily, but, noting the large homemade badge he wore, (I am an e'lir, so don't cross me,) made no moves to grab him. He intended to get into the library whatever it took, and it seemed that being elevated would speed that process along somewhat. "I'm looking for a book," he firmly stated. The librarian looked up, recognizing him. She met his gaze for a moment before speaking. "No highlighters. I see that you've managed to impress someone, but you're not impressing me that easily. Guards, search him, and keep his pack in custody. If you find anything remotely resembling food, throw him out." "What? You can't do that! I'm an e'lir now, practically the head master's assistant! I'm one of the most important people in this school!" The librarian rolled her eyes. "You said you were looking for a book? Try this one." Opening a drawer, she pulled out a pamphlet and tossed it to him. He grabbed it, scanning the cover. The title read, A beginner's guide to the university. For idiots. Nothing out of the ordinary there. "Page 4," the librarian said, returning to her book. Opening the book to page 4, he began reading. E'lir: the lowest of the low, these pupils have just started to see beyond the obvious. Although they have only begun to learn, they have ascended enought to be known as E'lir, which means "wise one", and definitely not anything else. Delta looked up. The librarian was watching him again, a smile on her face. "You realize that, as an e'lir, you have no actual authority, right? As such, if I chose to order you out of my library, you would have no way to fight back. A new title doesn't mean anything to me." Was that so? Would she be singing the same tune when he became a master? He'd wipe that smirk off of her face, sure enough. Delta spun and stalked out on the library. Edit: also, I am not a skindancer- 1161 replies

Long Game 18: Holly and Iron
Paranoid King replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Delta looked up from his research. What was that Stench? It was disturbing his studies. Bother. How could he concentrate if . . . Oh right, it was probably just himself. He hadn't showered in several weeks. Too many things to do. It was probably for the best, anyways. If he plugged his nose, the smell didn't bother him. And it seemed to clear the library for several feet in each direction. In fact. . . was that hazard tape they were putting around this section of the library? He needed to clear this up right away. What if he needed to replenish his food supplies? He rose and walked over to the group, who shied back slightly. "Gas masks? Really? Are you trying to go over the top so that I'll pay attention to you?" "He speaks!" "Of course I speak. What did you expect?" "You just hadn't moved for 12 hours straight. We figured we'd better get this area sectioned off so that a proper cleaning crew could clean up the mess." "I get it. So you want me to go home and get cleaned up before coming back here?" "Actually, no. Your library card's been revoked." "WHAT?" "No use issuing cards to a dead person prone to yelling at people who come too close, who then throws soda cans at them before returning to his book with a highlighter and a pair of scissors." "You - you can't..." "Actually, we can. And I believe the security's here." Delta was no warrior. But he had courage, and he knew how to defend what was important to him. He leaped at the security guards with a yell, brandishing his heavy book. *** Back in his apartment, Delta finally cleaned himself up, ridding himself of the stench that had been plaguing him. "mhrgrumblemumble. 4 talent fine. Unreasonable. mhrmblegrr community service." He forced himself to look on the bright side. At least no complaints had been filed against him. And they had let him out of solitary confinement after four hours for "good behavior". He suspected they just wanted him out of there as fast as possible. Well, he'd show them. He'd show them all!- 1161 replies

Granted, but if you touch metal, you become violently sick. I wish for the ability to create cybernetic arms without using my hands -

Very well. You perform everything perfectly the first time you do it each day, but perform horribly the rest of the time. Better hope you don't have two tests in one day. I wish I would stop bumping my funny bone. -
Long Game 18: Holly and Iron
Paranoid King replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Delta leaned back in his chair, brow furrowed. Skindancers were certainly real, no doubt about it. He had found far too much evidence proving their existence to easily dismiss them. And they were definitely in the school. Perhaps he should lay aside his studies about other Things to focus on the more immediate threat. The Things probably hadn't infiltrated this area. After all, no vortexes had opened up to realms of madness. In fact, now that he thought about it, he hadn't found any factual evidence for Things at all. Could his previous studies have been a lie? ...But if he accepted that, then he would be forced to accept that he had spent his life chasing after a nightmare in an attempt to be important. He made his decision. His studies would have to wait. He had a mission now, one that he knew was important. That being said, he would return to his previous research after the immediate threat was over. After all, he couldn't just dismiss his top two sources about Things, Creepy Chapters for Children, and Fiends from Forgotten Lore.- 1161 replies

Long Game 18: Holly and Iron
Paranoid King replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The man was obviously sane, but he held himself with an air that made one one despise him. But then, that's always how it was with these vintish noblemen, wasn't it? Delta had no plans to accept him as a leader, or in fact, to pay any attention to him at all. There were many more important things to do. Such as taking a trip to the library."Excuse me," he began, "do you have any books on Things? I was conducting an exhaustive study of them, but ran out of source material." The librarian raised an eyebrow. "You want a book about things? You can start anywhere in that case. This library is entirely devoted to learning about things." Wonderful. He feared a Thing invasion, and Things were poorly documented. He had made the right choice in coming to this university. As he wandered through the vast catacombs, he trailed a finger along the spines on the books, searching for one to more closely study. His mind wandered as well, thinking back to the discovery made that morning. Those in the crockery were never particularly stable, but very rarely prone to suicide. He hesitated, considering that it might not have been an accident. Was it possible that the Things had spread to here, bringing with them the scent of madness and the touch of oblivion? They were said to be immortal, only to be slain with silver and courage. They could take the form of any, and they could spread like a disease. Delta's mind reeled with the horrifying possibilities. His only hope was to discover the root of the Things, and destroy it. Despite having an entire library devoted to the Things, he had not yet met another person who knew of them and what they could do. Pulling a book out at random, Delta began his research. Half an hour later, Delta could see that his cause was hopeless. Despite the librarian's advice, he could not find a single book about the Things. Perhaps he had not clearly defined what he was looking for. Returning to the front desk, he rephrased his initial question, and was directed to a section on one side of the library. Skindancers weren't even close to Things! But perhaps some mythologies had drifted down from the originals. These books might contain some useful info. As he settled down to begin reading, Delta noticed another person perusing the stacks. But there was something . . . off about them. He had seen them before. Every time he visited, that man was in the stacks as well. Although Delta had no proof, he was sure of it. Acaelus Starfire had something to do with the murder.- 1161 replies

Quick Fix Game 13: Winter is Coming
Paranoid King replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Oh, that's right. If you die, they kill someone, otherwise, they can give a fatal wound. Ah well. Baldo buggis has met his fate. If anyone manages to find his ring, I'd suggest they throw it into a volcano. You know, to commemorate him. Not because the ring is evil or anything.- 311 replies

Quick Fix Game 13: Winter is Coming
Paranoid King replied to Amanuensis's topic in Sanderson Elimination
That's awesome. I was planning to come here and apologize for not sending in a kill action, but we won instead! Hurray! Edit: just out of curiosity, how many cycles did we have left in the game? Edit 2: wait a minute, Wargs only give fatal wounds! That means I'm still alive, right? right?- 311 replies
