Some things he can do with his powers are: Walk on air, by moving a portal connected with the ground underneath him. Glide, by jumping off of a building and portaling himself to travel sideways. Strand other epics in space, by portaling them out there, then cutting off the portal. Grab a sword from anywhere, by keeping an armory that he creates a portal to when he seems about to lose his previous sword. Become unhittable, by creating a portal system around himself that traps shots fired into it. When he releases the outer portal, all shots fly out in a rain of lead.

Can he hook up a larger portal to a smaller one? Say, a portal that he can walk through on one side and emerge from the other side, but can't go back through because it's too small?

You could have him come from a prestigious training school in the alps, where monks perfect their swordsmanship skills through constant training. Often the monks are isolated and separated to strengthen their bond with their sword. His sword became his only companion, as friendly companions were separated from him and neutral monks betrayed him.

Are the portals linked up to each other in the same direction, or can they be turned? As in, can he hook up two portals such that if you drop something down into one portal, it flies up out of the other portal? Because without turning those portals, he's incredibly powerful. If he's able to turn those portals any way he chooses, he's impossibly powerful. Can the portals transmit energy, or just matter? How far away from himself can he create these portals? Are entire objects transported (as in, someone doesn't go through the portal until their center of gravity is through it) or do parts of objects go through portals? (as in, half in one portal, half out of the other) Despite never having played portal, I've put a lot of thought into how portals would work in real life.

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost

...what? I thought I had read… *bashes head against wall* How did I think there was only 1 sori? From now on, I’m checking the rules before every post even remotely related to the rules. Kynedath’s probably good, guys.- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Violent white text. Stay away! And it would have worked too, if Kynedath hadn't contacted me pretending to be Sori. Only one of these people is Sori, and I'm willing to lynch the less open one to confirm Stink's innocence. Edit: and before anyone brings it up, what reason have I to lie? If I were an eliminator trying to protect stink, I'd only be delaying his death for another cycle, and killing myself as well. If I were an eliminator trying to protect Kynedath somehow, I'd be going about it in a very strange way. And If I'm a villager, I have no reason to lie.- 493 replies

...Are you really tired or something? Is this an attempt to kill discussion by killing you? You might be able to accomplish more while you're alive. But I can confirm Stink's assessment. I am indeed a villager.- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
This is white text Oh. I read it as, "Phatterner is inactive, and if you were voting on him because of that, I'd accept it. But if you're not, we should be focusing on active players, not wild suspicions." Okay. I just feel like you can't say, "in general, I do this or that, whether villager or eliminator", and then only list eliminator examples. You make it sound as though Kynedath did something you didn't understand, so you voted on him to get him to clarify. I felt like when you voted on me, you didn't question my methods, you questioned Phatterner's guilt. I...also missed luckat's mind block explanation post, and considered an inactive eliminator team to be one of the most likely possibilities, having missed that your vote was removed. I'm now much less certain of your guilt, Adavantos. I guess I'll look somewhere else for a suspicion. edit: I think my "new posts" notifier is broken. So I tunnel on Adavantos because he did some suspicious things and I misunderstood him. As you say, that's a really bad survival strategy. How does being bad at surviving make me a more likely candidate to be an eliminator?- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Bah. You keep on posting while I respond to your posts, so I can't incorporate your posts into my posts. So you're saying that the most likely possibilities are that the eliminator team forgot, were inactive, or were actionblocked? Oh, okay. I see the confusion. I meant that he's the most likely candidate if the eliminator team is inactive, but at the same time, he's not a definite eliminator. "Assuming an less active eliminator team, Polking is a bad candidate for an eliminator because he is completely inactive. In a different game, as an eliminator, he viewed the thread, but was still inactive" I'm willing to accept that you were either attacked by eliminators or made the attack for them. You're a pretty major player, so I would understand being attacked by eliminators. I'm just surprised that you reacted so strongly to my vote on Phattemer.- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The two most likely possibilities are that the eliminators didn't think about it or that they were roleblocked. I can't forsee any reason whatsoever the eliminators would not attack someone. Twel, if a kill is roleblocked, will we be notified about that? Now that that question has been asked, as you said, the entire eliminator team would have to be inactive or distracted to not make a kill, making it much more likely that the kill was roleblocked. If it was roleblocked, then we have no leads. In the unlikely chance that they forgot/were inactive, we do have a lead. I chose to follow up on that lead. I'm not going after him because of inactivity, I'm making my suspicions known. If he doesn't get back on the shard to post his code, he'll be killed anyways. Also, you want some math? Here: No, of course he's not a sure candidate. Nobody's a sure candidate in SE. That's why you make educated guesses. You would find someone a more likely candidate for an inactive eliminator team if they are active? Where did you go to logic school? I had gone to another page while typing, and when I came back, I didn't check if anyone else had posted. TL,DR: I voting on polking to make my suspicions known, not to lynch him, the eliminator team may be forgetful or inactive, Adavantos' logic is full of holes. Edit: Ninja Adavantos has more evidence. People should be lynched for inactivity, but only active people should be lynched? Whatever you say, as long as it incriminates me, huh? There is no eliminator kill and I vote on an inactive person. Yup, that's illogical, alright. So the only examples you have of reacting strongly are when you're anti-village? Noted. This actually looks more like an assertion of Phatterner's innocence than a clarifying question. I wouldn't expect a villager to react this strongly to a vote on someone.- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
No reason to wait to explain my suspicions, I guess. I imagine the eliminators didn't make their kill because someone was inactive. Polking didn't post at all last cycle, and was last on 17thshard on January 28. He seems like a sure candidate for an eliminator. Nothing here Water is doing suspicious things, but I'll give him a bit of leniency because it's his first game. edit: ninja'd by Adavantos.- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
What do people think? Is it a good idea for me to reveal the avian I got from phatterner? If so, I can use it to confirm with others that I got that one. True. You'll notice that I said that the villager lynched is more likely to have an eliminator in their numbers. I have a different suspicion, but I'll probably wait till later in the cycle to see what they do first. edit: I suppose that's as good a reason as any, Arraenae. Phatterner was acting incredibly suspicious. I was mostly explaining the C1 lynch to water as a general example, not as this cycle in particular.- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Both eliminators and villagers are people. Eliminators want to hold onto their aviar so that they can be violent to the village. Villagers want to hold onto their aviar because they don't know who else they can trust. Both of them want to hold onto their aviar, because they like to take actions. I don't see much difference between villagers and eliminators in that respect. No, we didn't lynch an eliminator, but we can look at the tally and say, "Hey. Phatterner was a villager. That means that there will likely be a higher concentration of eliminators in the people who lynched him. PK, Arraenae, Mailliw, and... not Elbereth. According to my tally, Elbereth was moved to Phatterner." So you look at those three people to see if they do any more eliminator-y stuff. Even though we didn't lynch an eliminator, the info we got from it outweighed the villager death. edit: thanks, clanky- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I may as well clarify this. By "suspicions" list, I mean "people who haven't done anything to help the village" list. If I cross someone off of that list, it means they're more likely to be good, but it doesn't clear them by any means.Edit: to respond to your point, clanky, aviar hunting may be useful, but not in the first cycle. It's difficult to find a code word with only one example, and so searching for the right word will just waste time.- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Lewis stared into Clark's eyes. He had been tailed for days by this trader. The time had come to end the charade. But violence wasn't the only solution to problems, despite what the other trappers thought. They had come to a compromise, brought to means by a friendly game of avion. The trade was simple. If Clark won, Lewis would acknowledge the superiority of the traders and join them, and vice-versa if Lewis won. No tricks, no traps. Just a simple test of intellectual prowess. Pieces were moved swiftly, and both sides appeared to be evenly matched. But upon studying the board intently, Lewis came to the realization that Clark was at an advantage. His own blue avian could not move without being destroyed, and Clark's clear avian was in a perfect position to swoop in and capture the nest. Lewis looked up to see a smug expression on Clark's face. There was clearly no way he could win this game. Drawing a double-strung, sawn-off shotbow, Lewis leveled it at Clark, who, to his surprise, was leveling the exact same model at him. With no time to hesitate, Lewis pulled the trigger, and Clark's face shattered. Clark toppled, that same smug expression plastered on his face, and in doing so, knocked over his nest. Check and mate, Clark. Perhaps the others were right, and violence was the only way to solve problems. Wiping the broken glass off of his shirt, Lewis arose and strolled to the meeting site, where the council to find the traders had just begun. Why was phatterner being so inconsistant? Why had he not responded to the accusations made against him? Lewis didn't know, but he intended to find out.- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost

It's not the eliminator that matters, it's the discussion. If nothing gets done D1, then D2 the eliminators are 1 ahead and the villagers have still gone nowhere. On that matter, I'll switch my vote from water to phatterner- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
That is true. I like that mechanic, because it means that not only do you have to be active, you have to be more active than normal to keep your code from being guessed. Well, that being said, I guess I'll vote for water, because his feud with sodium is sure to do something bad for the avian economy.- 493 replies
