  1. Cycle 1: someone dies Cycle 2: Scholar scans them Cycle 3: scholar communicates info Yeah, someone revealing that they are a scholar in the thread would paint a target on their head for the eliminators. Unless someone with a protect role were to protect them every night. Which I suppose is a viable strategy, considering that scholars are the only way you can figure out if someone is evil or not, and so may be one of the most important roles. Should scholars roleclaim in the thread, or should they wait and hope to get PM'd? What's the general consensus?
  2. Someone needed to die! You don't get information from people until two cycles afterwards, due to the delay on scholars. We needed to get someone killed quickly, so that we could have some info by cycle 3. Stink wasn't that suspicious to me, so I figured we needed to kill someone else, and Sart was the obvious choice. Of course my numbers are inaccurate. As I said before, I don't know what factors go into making a decision, but Adavantos seemed to want hard numbers, so I provided. And I'm assuming on four points, so my facts aren't all that hard, anyway.
  3. I suppose it could be seen in that light. My thoughts on first day lynches are that they are crucial because of the information they help us gather. We want information from as many different sources as possible, right? Well, we can't do that when everyone is focusing on two people. Those two people aren't giving us any more info. Why not spread the web out a bit, see how others react? I chose one of the first other people I saw and called him out. Am I suspicious because I'm trying to get more D1 info? I was trying to break a tie and get us some more info. I decided to break the tie in favor of Sart, because I've seen stink's playstyle. Stink plays like that in every game I've seen him in so far. I didn't see much suspicious in what he's doing. I didn't look back and see what Sart had done to make him guilty, I just assumed he had done something suspicious, and I don't know what his playstyle is, so I couldn't analyze it effectively. That, and I was short on time. So here I'm protecting stink, then stink is protected later. Okay. that's a bit tenuous. You'll notice in your post soon afterwards, you say, and I quote: "I only voted for Sart to keep Stink from dying." And then you accuse me of trying to kill Sart. We need info from the first day, buddy! Those scholars should be doing something with their powers. I hadn't thought at the time about day/night being combined, and that the diagrammists would try to kill someone. What post? Where - oh, you voted for me at the end of last cycle. There's your response, up there ^ Cause confusion? Not really. I was trying to clarify things. I was just pointing out that the assumption that both cooks are on one team is baseless. And I'm sorry your feelings are hurt. Adavantos is right about everything, people. Let's go ahead and assume I'm... not either of those things. I didn't calculate anything out because a WGG is based on people's motives, and I don't know what people's motives are. I just assumed that the chances of both the eliminator kill and a protect hitting the same person were relatively low. Here, if you want some math: If I were an artifabrian/lightweaver trying to save stink, why would I simply move the vote off of stink, instead of from stink to sart? It would earn me just as much suspicion, and kill someone, which is what I'd want as either an eliminator or a villager. Also, I'm now done with finals, and have more time to spend on SE (in case you didn't notice from the length of that post.) Edit: Un-greened Sart in my condemning quote of Adavantos. Sart can be blue now.
  4. ...what. This cannot happen. I'm the only paranoid king around here, thank you very much. The rest of you can be my advisers or something. You can advise me on how to be more paranoid. And then I'll fire you all to prevent anyone from getting too close to me. Back on topic, I'm more inclined to think this is a WGG than otherwise. Having two people coincidentally attacked and protected in the same round would mean a lot of people are thinking alike. And it's difficult to get that level of coordination unless you have communication, which nobody but the eliminators have. On the other hand, coincidences happen. And I suppose if everyone saw the same posts, they might think the same. And those who seem about to be lynched wouldn't be protected. But in that case, why not protect someone more obvious than venture? I dunno how that would happen coincidentally. I'm giving it a 70% chance of being a WGG. My vote's on Venture. Edit: just realized that a WGG would be done on someone more active. Venture probably isn't pulling a WGG.
  5. I suppose. Or the teams could be imbalanced, with two cooks on one team. But I think it's a more likely scenario that people aren't really focusing on who or who isn't in their faction right now. Full faction lists haven't been released yet, and no PM communication is going on yet. This early in the game, the cooks may have just figured it was a better idea to attack now, rather than wait to make sure they didn't hit someone in their faction.
  6. I've got finals this week, but I'll be finished with them by the beginning of turn 3. I won't be all that active during turns 1 and 2, but I will respond to some posts made so far. Woah, woah, woah. I never said I defeated them at swordplay, did I? I never even said I defeated any horneaters. I just stated that I defeated challengers, "all over the horneater peaks." I just challenged outsiders who didn't think they could beat a horneater. (Bandwagon on stink and hellscythe) Remember, guys, even though they may be suspicious, this is the first day. The purpose of the first day is to make as many people sweat as possible, so you can get their gut reaction. I don't know about you, but the only people I see sweating are those two. Let's spread around the joy, people! I'll start: Feligon, you're probably evil! As such, we will lynch you!
  7. Interesting thought. Perhaps splitting a spren into two parts isn't possible, but a long, thin cord, (think spiderweb thin,) could connect the bow to the arrow. At any point, the arrow could retract back to the bow along the cord. Along those lines, I suppose you could have multiple arrows. It just depends of how far the spren can stretch their physical identity.
  8. 1: I placed a vote on Alfa not because I was certain that he was bad, but because I wanted to see how he would react. You'll notice that a day later, I removed the vote because it seemed like Alfa was genuinely inactive. 2: So I'm one of the first people to vote on an eliminator. . . How does this make me suspicious? 3: Yes, I haven't been too active this game. The past few days I've been preparing for thanksgiving, and I haven't really put too much effort into this game. I'll start contributing more now that Thanksgiving is over. 4: see #3. Also, my activity varies wildly from game to game. The last time I was really active, I was breaking codes and protesting the pile-up on Discovery. This game there hasn't been any codes to break or pile-ups to protest. disclaimer: I stole the code instead of breaking it. No activity necessary. 5: Good point. Other people think I'm suspicious, so you think I'm suspicious, too. I have nothing to say about this. Except, don't jump on the bandwagon! Edit: fixed quote
  9. Let's look at the facts. #1: Alfa is a known hemallurgist, but has not been killed by the eliminators yet. #2: Alfa appears to be "lying low" and relying on her role to keep her alive. #3: Alfa has many supporters. Are any of them villagers? Certainly. Could any be eliminators? It is very likely. #4: Ripple voted on Alfa and was killed next turn, for no apparent reason. Every one of these facts points to Alfa being an eliminator. If she posts, I will remove my vote.
  10. All that white space at the end. I expected there to be an in-depth analysis in white text. But a post is a post, so I'm retracting my vote on Biggoron and replacing it by one on Zed Edit: also, Biggoron, you don't always need to contribute something new. Just keep an eye out and form your own suspicions. If your ideas match someone else's, support them. Just hang in there so we know you're an asset to the village.
  11. Board games? You want board games? Pork knows all about board games. Muhahaha. I got you covered. I was only supposed to bring a max of 6 board games, but I smuggled some more onto the ship while the captain wasn't looking. Here's the games I plan to bring: Among the Stars, Android Netrunner, Core Worlds, Cosmic Encounter, Eclipse, Eminent Domain, Firefly, Galaxy Defenders, Galaxy Trucker, Martian Dice, Merchant of Venus, Nexus Ops, Race for the Galaxy, Space Cadets, Space Sheep, Tiny Epic Galaxies, Twilight Imperium, and Xcom. Don't worry about being caught with more than 6 board games out, the captain is a lenient guy. If he starts to reprimand you, invite him to join you. If that doesn't work, tie up and gag the captain. Once he is released, he will no doubt storm off to his quarters without demoting or imprisoning anyone. Edit: one last note: If the captain asks why we are playing loud base-heavy music right above his quarters, we are to respond that this is a last-ditch effort to unify the crew and promote feelings of peace and well-being.
  12. I don't know exactly how you specifically would respond to the situation, I am merely showing that there are multiple ways to react, and "enthusiasm" does not mean "good". Especially when the person points it out themselves. I'm not saying you're guilty. If fact, you have a 75% chance of being good. I'm just saying that asking the kandra to reveal your alignment does not guarantee that you are good.
  13. You didn't exactly have a choice. Consider some scenarios: Good Kipper A: "Woah, sweet. I'm being scanned. Now people will trust me. C'mon, Kandra. Publish those results!" Good Kipper B: "Huh. I'm being scanned. Well, I suppose now I'll be trusted by those with info." Bad Kipper A: "Great, I'm being scanned by a Kandra. If I protest, I will be assumed guilty. Nothing to do but go along with it and hope the Kandra changes its mind." Bad Kipper B: "Great, I'm being scanned by a Kandra. I have no choice but to subtly redirect the Kandra to somebody else, while making it seem like I'm okay with being scanned." My point is that, whether good or bad, you'll want to seem like you're okay with being scanned. Whether good or bad, you may want someone else scanned. You can't judge the alignment of a person by how willing they seem to be to have their alignment known.
  14. Wait a minute. Only a sith deals in absolutes, but you're dealing with absolutes right now! You're a sith! Also, Spaghetti monsters sound way cooler than they actually are. Also, infiltrating the mint is something you should never do, as it will likely lead to your credit card being revoked. Edit: @Bort, I'd go to the advanced search, (gear next to regular search.) Say I'm trying to find posts made by Adavantos in lg15. Here's the boxes I would fill in. Author: Adavantos Find by date: October 22, 2015 (start date of this game) to *current* Find in forum: Sanderson Elimination Display results: As Posts Topics with at least: 18600 views Result sorting: Last updated time, Ascending It's not a perfect solution and is dependent upon LG15 having more views than any other SE game in that time period, but I couldn't figure out how to get the tags to work.
