  1. I am with you 100%. I was discovery on that game too. That was my first game, too, so I didn't know the difference between "balanced" and "unbalanced". I thought I was just playing it wrong until people started ranting about how useless discovery was.
  2. Alright, I looked through the rules and couldn't see anything about highstorms. Are there any special rules? Or is today just a normal day? Also, it appears that the eliminators are acting contrary to expectations, and are once again eliminating people. What a twist of fate.
  3. Maliss, a darkeyed man with a strangely twisted dagger, appears from nowhere. He stumbles as he lands, as though this was his first travel. Glancing around, he seems to recognize the scenery. Grumbling to himself, he tucks the dagger into his pocket and sets off to find the one who stole his spheres.
  4. Speaking of PMs during the day, I don't think it's as difficult for the eliminators to communicate as it's made out to be. If they're careful, all a messenger will get (on the off chance he chooses 2 eliminators) is normal strategy talk.
  5. As I don't have much time to post tomorrow, I'm going to vote now. In the interest of keeping this game active, I'm voting for Shallan. I don't have any evidence against her, I'm just voting because she isn't adding anything to the discussion.
  6. I prefer to vote for inactives over actives, unless I have evidence to convince me otherwise, and here's why: Scenario 1: inactives lynched at beginning, hearty discussion continues after inactives are gone, Eliminators are much more likely to be wiped out. (Because they have to keep active, meaning more opportunities for seeing their strategy.) Game is interesting most of the way through. Scenario 2: actives lynched at beginning, almost no discussion continues after actives are gone, Eliminators also remain quiet, eliminating people with sneaky eliminator powers during the night. Either that, or they are inactive as well, making the game incredibly boring and tedious for both players and the GM. (I would know. I've been in one of those games. There was one day that nobody voted.) However, I didn't vote on day 1 because, as Seonid said, people who are inactive on the first day may turn around and become active later. I would prefer to not lynch someone just because of temporary circumstances. 2 day/night cycles are enough for me to confirm them fairly inactive, and I plan to vote on anyone who still hasn't responded by then. So Shallan, Venture Mistborn, and Feligon, speak up!
  7. Eradin walked alongside the chasm that night. He couldn't sleep, not after hearing of the death of an innocent noble. "A worldsinger," he mumbled to himself, "why must those meant to spread peace be the first to go?" He moved along the edge of the warcamps for perhaps an hour, silently thinking. Then raised his head, resolute. He - and everyone else in the warcamps - were stuck in this mess until the culprits were found. Reaching into one of the pockets of his coat, he whipped out his detective hat. It was a black hat with a small brim. It was also his favorite hat, and he found opportunities to wear it often. His complexion darkened slightly, and his eyes changed from bright blue to a light green. The wrongdoers must be found before the warcamps were emptied. He intended to do a bit of undercover work. Who should his first suspects be? Those who rested during the day, of course. So they would have enough energy for secret meetings during the night, obviously. He had ways to make them talk. At least, I hope they talk. I don't like lynching people just because they give me no info.
  8. I haven't noticed anyone bring this up yet, and I think it's important to remember - Eliminators can corrupt each other. Therefore, you can't rule out that one of the eliminators is an artifabrisan, because they can corrupt each other and use that power to corrupt others.
  9. Decided to make a new, lasting character. I hope the RP isn't too long. Backstory: Eradin is joining. He is a most confusing sort. His eyes have been reported to fluctuate, sometimes light blue, other times a deep brown. He enjoys debates and confusion, and he must be a rich swordsman, because he has a magnificent sword belted to his waist.
  10. Probably the biggest problem with finding out those questions is that we don't know how the ring was made. How was power invested into the ring? Were sacrifices involved? Was the power of a volcano used? Or was it just the mysterious "wizard power" that Gandalf uses? Anyway, back on topic, I'm going to place my vote on Hero. EDIT: ooh, just remembered that someone asked Brandon what would happen if someone tried to burn the one ring. Yes, the ring is investiture compatible, it appears. 11. So all this speculating about whether or not I'm a diagramist will get me scanned, right? If that's so, I'll do all I can to make it even more confusing so that I'll get scanned more quickly. Yeah, I'd say that I have about a 25% chance of being a diagramist, assuming that 1/4 of the people on this game are eliminators.
  12. Well, I would agree that shooting for a member of discovery would be a good strategy if they have no/few other votes on them. But if there's almost a tie and your vote may be the difference between whether or not your team member dies, you'd take your vote off. And Hero responded to clarify that he was keeping his vote on me, when the votes were close. (Exact response: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/33389-lg13-traitors-on-the-plains/?p=297795) I'd say that's as close as you can get to solid proof that I'm not a discovery member. That being said, as I have no powers, I would really like to be a squire.
  13. Come to think of it, this game would probably have been a lot less broken if faction lists weren't public. Diplomats would be used to slowly uncover who is on whose team, rather than to figure out who discovery members were. Strikers would attack those not on their team, rather than targeting discovery. It's the difference between slowly unraveling the mystery and just having it handed to you. Despite that, I still had a great time. This was a awesome first game for me, and Kas was an incredible GM. He was active in the Docs, he posted reminders and clarifications, he dealt with last-minute orders, and he gave Discovery Regicide. EDIT: just noticed this in the dead doc: It seems he really tried to take a go at it on his own, for his own entertainment. (PK, if you ever read this, feel free to tell me if I’m wrong about that.) Before Mailliw shared info, I tried to crack the code. I couldn't figure it out. After he shared info, I worked at it long enough to make sure I could crack it, looked at the cheat sheet, spent 6 hours doing something else so my brother didn't get suspicious, then posted that I had solved the code. And then went back and finished solving the code so I had an explanation for everyone else. Being an eliminator is awesome that way.
  14. Alright. I see that people have been voting on me because I was inactive and was in a PM with Bort. Here's the problem with me (or anyone else in the PM) conspiring to kill him: that PM is a link to free info Bort already used up most of his charges as such, there is no reason to kill him other than that he is a KR. So it seems to me like free info would be a better motivator than taking out a KR. I can't see why Discovery would kill him. Unless they weren't in the PM. Private communication between their enemies would be something they'd want to stop immediately. As such, I don't suspect any of the members Bort PM'd, and I'm placing my vote on Macen.
  15. I am SO sorry, guys. I've been inactive for a few days because I left on vacation to a place without internet access. I meant to inform you, but internet at my house was dead for 6-7 hours before I left. For all those wondering about my inactivity, sorry. EDIT: Akir... Akisem... Glove stealer can back me up on this, as we both are brothers. Ariki... Glove boy, please respond with confirmation of my story. EDIT 2: oops, just remembered you're not supposed to use info gleaned from out of topic. Let me rephrase that. Ahem. Akirisemapatahisirikalakirisihatapamesirika, I notice you haven't been online for a few days, either. Would you like to provide an explanation?
