Considered one way, yes. But imagine someone happens around a corner and finds him. He takes back time and moves to a different corner so that he isn't found. Although I suppose doing that would be annoying if multiple posts depended on him being found. So I think it would just be easier for everyone if he could recall the past history of objects.

Huh. This isn't at all what I was thinking his ability would be. I thought it would just be something like this: "David points a pistol at flashback's head and fires." "Flashback reacts instantly, turning back time and dodging out of the way. He also takes the opportunity to send a wave of heat towards David." "David, safe in his protective jacket, tensors the ground beneath him, escaping into the catacombs."

Hmm... if we were to do that, how about a sphere with a 30-foot radius? That seems big enough to include assassins/cohorts near him without involving too many people. Although I was originally thinking just him.

Keep in mind that Flashback's ability is object-oriented: He can pickpocket a watch from someone and figure out where the person carrying it was yesterday. So you don't need to worry, Backtrack is still unique

A precog makes sense when it's pretty much the same effect either way. But then to make his name fit, I would want him to be able to discover an object's recent history by touching it. (secret conversation happened in room, flashback goes into room, touches sofa, gets secret plans.)

Good point. I agree that others around him (anyone within hearing or speaking distance) should be able to retain information. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to role-play if you forget everything every few turns. And he could have a 1-minute cooldown between flashbacks so that he doesn't just replay a situation over and over again. It would be interesting because whenever he flashed back, everyone around him would have a deja-vu moment and know they had been compromised.

He rarely uses it around other people. He mostly uses it to spy and discover information without being discovered. I won't abuse the power As said before, he can't use his power again until the previous time has run out. So if he is just a second away from being stabbed, and he replays time but can't find a way out in the minute, then he will die.

Imagine that the Flashbacks from the different timelines trade places. There are never two at the same time. Iconoclast would need to try to defeat him twice, after which he would concede defeat. Unless of course a trap is laid so that flashback is in danger for more than a minute but doesn't realize it. It's not really a prime invincibility because it can be easily overcome. It's mostly used for gathering information.

Here is how I imagine the paradox problem working out: Imagine you have two timelines that are exactly the same, but one is 10 minutes earlier. Flashback gets in trouble in the first (later) timeline. He switches over to the second timeline, which is 10 minutes earlier. He now has information he didn't have before, but he is in the exact same situation as before. He doesn't cause a time paradox because he isn't in the same timeline anymore. I'm totally fine with having him travel back 1 minute instead of 10. His weakness is being blamed for something he didn't do. However, he loves to lay red herrings so that nobody is able to see that that is clearly his weakness.

Now, is it possible that David was an "anti-epic" from the beginning? As such, when gifted epic powers, they are unable to take hold if he doesn't want them to. He'd also be able to calm down other epics and potentially keep them from using their powers.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
Paranoid King replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Perhaps that is the secret to FTL travel in the future Mistborn era. Because assuming you are viewing the spaceship from the outside, you see that it nears the speed of light, but can't pass it. But then an allomancer throws out a cadmium bubble and the ship is going way slower. It speeds up inside the bubble to near the speed of light, and as it leaves the bubble - poof! FTL travel. -

What's YOUR Talent?
Paranoid King replied to Silus - Shard of Flame's topic in Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians
Never being able to catch anything. Fish, baseballs, colds. I can't catch anything, if you catch my drift. -
Second to stick, (who obviously is first because of his unswerving commitment to being a stick,) is probably the ropes that bound the sailors. If I may include a quote [Edit: from the Jasnah reading]:

Allomancy: Consuming Metals for the Future
Paranoid King replied to WindrunnerRadiant's topic in Mistborn
Of course, when injecting them, they go into the bloodstream, right? Are metals burnable anywhere in the body, or can they only be burned in the stomach? -
Oh, and congratulations on posting the 1,000th post in Mistborn.

A rain of shrdblades?[WoR spoilers ahead!]
Paranoid King replied to rederel's topic in Stormlight Archive
Of course, if the Stormfather did turn into a massive sword falling from the sky... Dalinar would catch it. -
So we know that Southern Scadrial has used technology for allomancy, rather than organics. We also know that there will be a space trilogy in mistborn. So this brings up a few questions: 1: Will they be able to reach other planets in the Cosmere? So far, the only people visiting between planets are worldhoppers, presumably through use of shardpools. Is this the only way, or is it possible to reach other planets with a few years of travel? 2: If so, will there be a showoff between mistblades and shardblades? Southern Scadrial has had years to design and perfect technology. Surely they have had time to create superpowered swords. And if they have, then that leads to the all-important question: If Shardblades coalesce out of and into mist, will mistblades explode into shards when dismissed? 3: Does 17th shard have a headquarters, and if so, will Scadrial find it? If so, it would result in either a drastic increase in the numbers of 17th sharders or an all-out war. I'm hopeful for either one.

How far does darkness take a crime? He killed one man for delivering poison he didn't know about. As a surgeon, Kaladin has to know when to let some patients go, rather than expend all his resources to save them. Does that count? And how about Elhokar? He's already seeing shadesmar in mirrors. It's only one step from there to a KR. It would be the perfect twist to have the white assassin ignore Elhokar, only to have darkness come after him.

Is anyone here not in college?
Paranoid King replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
Actually, I have done that. But usually it's because questions are bugged and the hints give you the exact same answer as the one you put in. -
according to this site, there are over 1 million words in the english language. Even assuming that epics didn't have boring names like "that", "the", or "and", I think we can safely assume that there are still hundreds of thousands of words left. And this is if epics only use 1-word names.
