  1. Watch out folks, here comes the Fan Police! Stay cool, act normal I really enjoyed Words of Radiance, and it created considerable amount of expectations for Oathbringer. Those expectations were mostly frustrated, so I was disappointed immensely with Oathbringer. Some specifics: when it became a Dalinar book instead of a Szeth book. Also Odium being a cartoonishly villainous antagonist instead of mostly being a force of nature like he was in Words of Radiance.
  2. I remember looking up a Coppermind article to refresh my memory and lo and behold, the first sentence was a major RoW spoiler. The warnings on top of the article don't help if the spoiler is still instantly visible, guys! Of course, I "don't believe in spoilers" so it didn't ruin my enjoyment, but it would certainly bum out others doing what I was doing (refreshing my mind). Going forward, I think the Coppermind should not change its articles with new content until the spoiler period ends on the 17th Shard.
  3. I just finished RoW, and I really liked it. It could have even redeemed Oathbringer for me! *gasp!* Brandon still needs to finish W&W 4 pronto, though!
  4. All Surgebinding comes from Odium! Mwahahaha!
  5. From a story perspective: it hints at how dangerous he is. It's implied that his free Bondsmithing heavily contributed to the destruction of Ashyn. Could be that unregulated bondsmithing could also be destructive on Shadesmar.
  6. Not every character deserves redemption. After what he did in this book, Moash falls in this category. Sadaes and Amaran had more redeeming qualities than this monster.
  7. It could actually be tied for first in my opining, but I went ahead and voted Words of Radiance while I digest the experience. It is certainly very important in the Cosmere scheme of things!
  8. This certainly ties with Words of Radiance at the least for me! Which is to say, I really liked it! Could even be the best Stormlight book thus far, but I'm not sure about that!
  9. I just finished it (RoW) and can help if you message me. If I feel that I'll spoil it, I'll just say RAFO!
  10. A very reasonable reaction
  11. So. Depends on the "age group" you are looking for, but here are some suggestions I've read or heard good things about: Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of her own Making by Catherynne M Valente The Nine by Tracy Townsend This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohter & Max Gladstone (this one is really good) The Lady Astronauts series by Mary Robinette Kowal (haven't read, heard good things about) A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine Little, Big by John Crowley (this is the highest reading level of all my suggestions)
  12. @Draginon Identity and its associated politics can be...a trip... add to that the looming spectre of British imperialism and I can see where such conversations, started in the spirit of rationality, can turn into another battleground against historic injustice. I guess what I'm trying to say is: do your best to not let those comments get you down. They are not really about your identity or genealogical history. They are an opportunity for them to engage in a conversation that you were not even having.
  13. Looks like Jamie Foxx is reprising his role as Electro. Which means I might be booing at a theatre in the foreseeable future (at the much more plausible Spider-verse plot, not Jaime Foxx).
  14. I would probably yell "boooo!" in the movie theatre. We all ready have a successful Spider-verse franchise, it does not need to be live action. Also, it could be that studios realized you can't improve on the casting of Doc Oc, like how you can't improve on J K Simmons as Jameson, so you might as well get them because they are the best for the job.
  15. I just saw Warbreaker, Elantris and Mistborn on the site. Maybe they just need restocking!
  16. YES!!! I CAN FINALLY REPLACE MY TATTERED I AM A STICK SHIRT! Oh, and the pins are pretty cool...
  17. Stop after the first chapter of book one!
  18. I don't listen to a lot of rap, but it looks like what I do listen to might be up your alley! Copperwire only did one album called Earthbound which is pretty much a science fiction concept album One of the trio, Gabriel Teodoro, does a lot of solo stuff and I like him
  19. That's right! I keep forgetting about that, being in a landlocked state.
  20. Dude, you're soooo behind schedule, bro! Though I feel bad the most for those who must wait for Christmas because of foolish gift giving traditions!
  21. Video about Mara incoming! Spoilers for everything!
  22. So far, I'm enjoying this book much more than I did Oathbringer. Where it fits in my rankings remains to be seen.
  23. @Use the Falchion Luke would still have failed because Kylo would still have gone to the dark side. He would have just failed in a way more in step with his established character.
  24. The Luke issue could be fixed thusly: Instead of Luke standing over Kylo with a lightsaber and murderous eyes like a jack a (giving Kylo that final push to the dark side), his failure should have been that, despite his trainings, Kylo joined with Snoke and came back with the Knights of Ren to destroy Luke's school. That would still fit in with Luke's "the jedi failed" mentality and could be seen as a more logical inciting event to his hermitage. Sure, people would still complain. This is Star Wars, I remembered when the prequels were nearly reviled universally. But it would be better, I think.
