  1. . . . what does that even mean? Kandra probably have the most mundane ancestry you can find amongst invested species.
  2. Of course kandra can be scalded. You can cut them to pieces or otherwise damage them and it'll hurt if not eventually kill them. They're just seriously malleable, so most things lethal for humans don't matter to them, but they aren't invincible.
  3. Yeah, TLR's problem was that he was compounding a trait that naturally disappears ad infinitum, and has long since gone past the point where he even had enough naturally to be alive. He needs more and more tapped age to maintain his appearance, which means he is draining his charges faster each day and needs to burn more frequently. Eventually he'll have to burn nonstop, and after a while that won't be enough either.
  4. But . . . shards not directing intents towards themselves was my whole point . . .
  5. And it seems to be implied that they have superhuman senses and reaction time by default, without stormlight and surges. Heralds shouldn't be messed with.
  6. You just . . . agreed with my point, basically.
  7. Not that she really cared that much for a father she knew for all of a single conversation. One that wasn't even directed at her for the most part.
  8. Well, if freedom matters so much more than everything else we should go and set every criminal in the world free from jail then . . . Yeah, let's just have god watch as people die in Elendel because the hero they need and deserve is happily chilling in the Roughs and the one person who can get him to leave says no. Supposedly he didn't even control her that time. The time he did, it was that or watch the world Vin and Elend sacrificed their lives to save burn to the ground. Preservation can see the future. Sazed knew what was coming, and if coercing one kandra is all it would take, then Rusts and Ruin he's going to have to do it. Because nobody else can.
  9. Seems to me he's a destination before journey type of guy. Though he hasn't killed anyone on purpose at least, just blatantly withheld information from them to keep them on the job without second thoughts. There was really no other way to make sure Wax can pull the trigger on his wife like that. As for coercing Paalm to fake her death, then utilizing the Flaw this time . . . well I imagine by the time Tan happened he's probably tried talking some sense into her already. For the latter case, it was the most effective option. Paalm then chose to die, and he can't very well deny her of that last thing either. Might not be the most honest god out there, but he ain't all powerful. Quite the opposite really, seems like his is the most counterproductive combination of shards out there. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do and take the blame for being a manipulative heartless jerk before people start dying on you. Moral grey line here. (is the synonym for illegitimate children an allowed word here?)
  10. Well, that quote by Marasi somehow slipped under my radar. Nice catch. Good for you, Goradel, your descendant is awesome.
  11. Risk of enslavememt if you do something that would potentially endanger the masses. He's never actually used the Flaw until he had no choice. If someone is preventing a capable person from going elsewhere to save lives, even though that's what the hero wants. If someone is going around trying to topple human society. If you could stop them from doing so with the flip of a switch, wouldn't you do it? Those people that might become victims if you don't have just as much right to live on and exercise free will. The madness isn't even his fault. They're mistwraiths, they're not even supposed to have sentience unless you surgically graft literal pieces of human souls onto them with spikes. To be kandra is to have to accept that their minds aren't really a natural part of them, they're hemalurgic constructs. If there's anyone to blame, blame Rashek for making his own people into mindless beasts.
  12. Well, the southern guys didn't have it as easy as these guys. Clearly if they still exist, by Wayne logic, they ought to have deep experience with not dying, and would be certified badchull. Which would present a problem. For all we know they're closer to space opera era Scadrial than "our" side, in which case we're screwed.
  13. I'd like to add that while the magic will certainly be about or relate to autonomy/independence/freedom, this does not prevent Autonomy himself from controlling people in order to bring it about. No more than Ruin has self-destructive tendencies (he doesn't). He'd have to stop at some point to make the system truly stand by itself, but he's likely not above chessmaster-ing everyone until then.
  14. You'll be hospital bound for 16 hours though, that would suck
  15. The book also brings the darker sides of many characters to focus. Bringing Wayne's past mistake back, Wax being told repeatedly by several that he's only here to kill people and destroy things (worse when it's basically true), Marasi ends up stealing documents trying to find evidence to convict Innate. Harmony as the manipulative jerk. Paalm, period. I see many ways to read the title. That #4 . . . that the seriousness level is even higher than -1% upsets me
  16. He IS the one doing him and Steris' wedding though. Whether or not it matters to someone doesn't change the fact that he's a priest, you know.
  17. 1) An entire verb is missing in the first sentence.2) I can guess what you're saying, but where was that ever said? If the statement exists it eludes me, because Ruin can't even speak to most people without a spike to help in the first place.
  18. The name "Sel" isn't English so that point is kinda moot. Technically any shard could just go and create whatever weird metal they want. It's probably not difficult if you can set the Pits if Hathsin to just gather and solidify spent Ruin investiture automatically with no further input. Scadrial makes everything happen in some metal-related way.
  19. Common-born constable is actually a lighteyes of the highest rank?
  20. Aladar is an Alethi highprince by the way. You're thinking of a different name.
  21. Harmony has turned me into a Soother. That's a thing. Anybody want to fetch me that can of soda in the fridge?
  22. No rudeness intended, but which part of "Just have Marsh trail Wax while he investigates and finds her for the first time" did you ignore in that statement?
  23. Didn't a bomb get successfully stuck onto Obliteration for at least one teleport before he consciously ditched it? My memory fails me. His own glasses might actually work *shrugs*
  24. Not everyone reads that for some reason, so might as well cite the book itself
  25. She does namedrop a girl in this book who would supposedly be worried. At least, I think it was a girl's name. Wax had suspicions in AoL already anyway. Wayne will just use Wayne logic to deny it.
