Stakes in the Stormlight Archive (buncha WoR spoilers)
natc replied to DSC01's topic in Stormlight Archive
I wonder how long it takes to bond the honorblade. Dead shardblades take a week, but they seem to take units of 10 for everything due to being dead, and I think a week is 10 days on Roshar. -
Well, it actually wasn't. I put down my phone and came back to do it later, but got ninja'd

"Classical Trell" would be the more accurate name, yeah XD

Maybe Marsh wanted to keep his spikes as a reminder of what he had done? People do that kind of thing. He probably feels responsible for losing to Ruin like that, even though he probably did a surprisingly good job against Ruin for an Inquisitor.
-
Well, if they had non-terris ancestors from the early days of the Originators, it wouldn't be surprising, and while the allomantic blood can potentially fade after that to near non-functional levels in 3 centuries of purer breeding, they probably would've left their mark by disrupting the feruchemical genes and splitting them. That possibly can't recover with time.

Regarding Paalm not quite adhering to the intents of the suspects, the culprit might not actually want a total puppet. Take Preservation's master plan; he needed to create a situation where someone would inherit his power and kill Ruin by themselves. A puppet that is completely controlled would be worthless, since they can't kill and basically cannot fend off Ruin's minions at all. Killing Ruin, however, will serve the greater purpose of preserving Scadrial. Besides, Preservation had to die to succeed, so the agent needed to have a desire to do the job without external control. The main reason to have an agent is to be able to do things you can't do due to your intent, I would think. So a shard letting Paalm have the freedom to go against their direct influence can actually be the desired situation, as it can provide more options to further the end goal of the perpetrator. Yes, Ruin had a total puppet in Marsh, but in reality his main pawn in his plan was Vin, who he just secretly pointed towards a goal and left to her own devices. She had a part in amassing the manpower and resources to make such a big quest feasible, which probably wouldn't happen if she was driven by a lust to destroy everything. She did have enough of a tendency towards violence that the influence is kind of clear in hindsight, but nothing entirely restricting.

Why did two of the Human votes get downvoted, you rusting gits? That's mean. Hoid.
-
A lot of the energy also probably got used to destroy his body, which is constantly growing back.

Odium is alive yet voidspren exist. Honor can definitely create spren while alive, as Cultivation has probably been doing this whole time, Odium is clearly doing, and Adonalsium likely did. Listeners seem to predate humans as well, and their species basically requires spren to function by itself, as the greatshells seem to be as well. Probably skyeels as well.

Regular Sazed literally only had one ability. It did 16+ different things but it's still one ability.
-
Also, yeah, pretty sure the north and south Scadrian civilizations don't stray too far from the poles. Elendel is probably farther than Luthadel used to be, but I doubt the southern area has even moved.
-
The "howler" spikes were also noted to have red markings of some sort, which Wax assumed at the time was blood. Then they found Paalm's spike, which is literally silvery laced with red, as if a metal with two colors is physically possible.

1. Find shardpool 2. Do whatever Hoid did to worldhop 3. ??? 4. Profit. You don't need forms for silly things like teleportation halfway across dwarf galaxies!
-
We also have to wonder if the various species of "human" even have the same bind points.

If Ruin wasn't involved with the intent of hemalurgy, those accidents would have produced absolutely nothing. Intent from some involved party is said to be necessary to perform hemalurgy. Ruin probably aimed the spikes too; only very precise theft points can steal the attribute, and the spike must pierce the proper bind points as well. It's apparently impossible to perform hemalurgy by accident, and it seems it is still nearly as impossible to do it on purpose without someone explaining it or doing all the tough parts for you.

Found a copy of Steelheart while looking for something else entirely and liked it. About a month later, came across that Sanderson's Three Laws essay while internet browsing and went "I recognize this guy! So he writes mainly fantasy" and decided to buy a book. Two big series were SA and Mistborn, and Mistborn books were shorter for evaluation's sake.

We didn't, as far as I know.

If Spook the Tin Savant gets to have prior knowledge of firearms and how people use them, he'd actually have the best chance out of everyone other than atium users and steelrunners of dodging Marasi's bullets. It's all in where the rifleman (or woman) is sighting before pulling the trigger . . . If he had his spike he'd just take the shot and reach her before he gets hurt too badly.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...

They don't sell it here, I have to actually mail order -
I can't dodge a point I had no obligation to actually address . . . And no, she didn't explicitly claim direct control of any sort.
-
It's also probably not balanced quite like the way Harmony is. Since Adonalsium isn't stuck being forced to basically do nothing a lot.
-
I'm wondering why you are still saying that after we keep pointing out that pretty much everyone except Paalm who knew about her identity have never attested to that ever happening. Not even Paalm herself.
-
Probably, he'd notice the pattern of what compositions the metal in his spike, kandra blessings, and koloss spikes have pretty quickly, especially being mistborn and knowing feruchemists personally as a precedent.

[SOS Theory] Wax's Missing earring description
natc replied to Soother's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I was under the impression that it was reforged from an Inquisitor spike
