Mid-Range Game 15: The Dula Revolution
Young Bard replied to Mckeedee123's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Actually, I don't think that's a good idea. We have at least one active Derethi (if not one Derethi, fullstop) that attempted the kill on me last night. Lime has been inactive since Monday, so we can rule her out (I thought I was going to rule out Sart and Kipper this way too, but they came on before rollover. Oh well.) EDIT: I can get behind a Kipper lynch. I'll vote for him once I go through his posts, and hopefully get some analysis done.- 727 replies

Mid-Range Game 15: The Dula Revolution
Young Bard replied to Mckeedee123's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm going to vote to recall The Young Bard, in the attempt to engineer a tie. The Jeskeri aren't important right now. If we started with a lead at the beginning of the game (which we would have unless Mek deliberately fiddled with the numbers, then we will continue to have a tie. If we have an election tomorrow, it leaves open the possibility of a hammer or something else we don't foresee, particularly since we have 3-4 inactive players right now. @Elenion, you placing a vote on me should bring it to 3, and from there, we only need one more. We used this plan to start off with - the whole thing is useless unless we keep through with it to the end. (And yes, I know how much like a Jeskeri I sound. At this point, I don't care. I think my logic is sound.)- 727 replies

Mid-Range Game 15: The Dula Revolution
Young Bard replied to Mckeedee123's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Alv, you are aware that only the Derethi need to die in order for the game to finish? OK. I've looked at the Senators, and none of them are strong Derethi candidates in my mind (we could well have a couple Jeskeri, but a couple is still short of winning it for them. Unless Mek deliberately engineered 3 or more Jeskeri to be on the Senate when the game began, I don't think we have reason for concern from that front. The point of instituting the idea of not shifting people in and out of the Senate was to a) prevent the Jeskeri from gaining control presuming they don't have it, and b ) making sure any who do are noticed. If we go back on this idea now, at possibly the most critical time, then it undermines the point of doing it in the first place. If you're Jeskeri, and trying to get that extra buddy or two into the Senate to gain a majority, you're not fooling anyone. I'll leave it there for now, but I'm in favour of continuing with our current plan. I very nearly posted something, but posting it would probably turn it into a IKYK. In the morning, I should probably be able to trim down the number of Eliminators a fair bit. P.S. I can confirm I will be on the Shard at turnover (for the first time in ages - sorry about that.)- 727 replies

The idea reminds me vaguely of Legion: Skin Deep, which is interesting. I suspect he'll take it in a different direction, though.

I actually made a post about this here. You can see a flow chart which books you should read. It's kind of complex, but I'm hoping to slim it down and add more aesthetics someday. There is one short story that isn't listed there, but you don't need to worry about that for sometime, as it's all the way at the end of the Mistborn series.

That would be me. Sorry I didn't post at all last night. Unfortunately, the same will probably be true today except for voting on Seonid. I have a massive assignment I've procrastinated on for ages and need to get done tonight. (I'll do the same thing in the senate doc.)- 727 replies

Young Bard replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Sign me up, please! (I want to call myself Sky Masterson here, because of the tags, but you seem to have put that name down for Ecthelion, even though that's not her character...) Clarifications: Must the Legionnaire reveal themselves in the doc? Will roles be revealed after the player dies? (I would normally assume yes, but the inactivity filter thing makes me want to clarify.)- 1559 replies

Well, even if that's true, turnover should have happened by now. EDIT: No offence to Mek is intended. I'm sure you're super busy with RL stuff. Here's to hoping you can get it sorted out quickly.- 727 replies

Uhh... What's wrong with OOG PM's that they're frowned upon? Slight Note about the roles - usually, alignments are designated a colour. If a role is alignment specific, then they will be given that colour. What's the point of having a Mordor aligned guard that can protect from the Mordor kill? Maybe if they had the power to protect from the Noblemen's kill as well, this could make a bit more sense. The cynic in me loves this role. I am incredibly amused. One, you got rid of the day night cycles, so you might want to rephrase that. Second, isn't this basically a second, exclusive lynch? (If that's what it's meant to be, then that's fine. I'd just like to clarify.) Are you planning on making this the vanilla role? Because it's the only role that can detect who's visiting who's house, which seems to make up a fairly large part of the game. If there are only 3-4 of these in the game, including the prisoners, then the visiting house feature might not be worth it. Maybe make another role of a voyeur or something that can see who's visiting a target player's house or something? If the prisoners knew their vote wasn't going to count, then why would they bother voting? I get that the aim is to encourage the prisoners to find and kill the Jailor, but if they can't use a role to kill him, and they can't lynch him, then how are they going to do that. Either a) have the Jailor choose a Prisoner each cycle so that their votes/actions don't count the next cycle (a bit like the Whitecloak in LG22), or have the prisoner have some additional power that somehow gives them the ability to find/kill the Jailor more easily and get their proper role. (I think having all the Prisoners becoming Outlaws is a bit dull too, but that's just me. Perhaps if it were a random unknown role that they receive upon breaking free, it would be more interesting.)

Mid-Range Game 15: The Dula Revolution
Young Bard replied to Mckeedee123's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I did not go on a business trip N2. I'm reading through the thread now (which might have made my voting slightly premature, but I wanted to get something in before rollover. It might just be a placeholder vote. EDIT: Maill - at the very least, it will net us a fair amount of information about who's likely to be an eliminator via bandwagonning even if he's innocent (including one Young Bard , but never mind that.)- 727 replies

Mid-Range Game 15: The Dula Revolution
Young Bard replied to Mckeedee123's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Amanuensis, can you please clear me so I can get on with things? (I didn't receive it, which leaves only Aman.) Elenion, a slight clarification: If our theory is right, then the attack on El was probably a Jeskeri attack instead of a Derethi one. Remember, the Jeskeri are going to be even more concerned about taking over the Senate than the Derethi are. I'm still not sure about it though. I could be right, but it's still a pretty outlandish theory (and it wouldn't be my first). It's still early in the night so far, but I'd like to go over the whole thread again quickly (I think I missed the part where Straw claims Acolyte, which is a crucial point, in particular). I probably won't get around to posting a full list and assessment until next cycle (there are a couple other people who I'd like to mention as suspcious, but I want to back it up with evidence. Plus, if I'm revealed good, I can be a little less worrisome that what I say will be seen as eliminator-y, which means I don't have to analyse my posts that way anymore.- 727 replies

Mid-Range Game 15: The Dula Revolution
Young Bard replied to Mckeedee123's topic in Sanderson Elimination
OK. This week, on the "Why everyone suspects Bard" show, we have a whole new range of reasons why everyone suspects the Young Bard *cue '80s style opening credits* 1. I said the Jeskeri could be seen as another village faction, but with a doc. First of all, I forgot they got a kill every second night (though on the upside, that means I went and reviewed the rules, causing me to spot and point out the lack of a second kill last night, which is potentially useful information.) If I'd known they had a kill at the time, I wouldn't have written that. But, particularly since I came from LG23, in which there are basically 4 village factions (or none, if you prefer to think about it that way), so the concept of multiple factions all playing as a village faction isn't quite as absurd as it sounds. 2. Eramit voted on me. This I had no chance of controlling. I understand why I'd be suspicious because of it from your shoes, but I can't really do that much about it, except swap the scan vote to myself in the Senate Doc, which I've done. I have nothing to lose. (Also, by the way, this argument suggests I'm Derethi, while Point 1 suggests I'm Jeskeri. So whichever faction you think I am, these two points are mutually contradictory.) Also, Elenion or any other member of the Senate, if you're suspicious of me, do you want to switch your Senate Scan over to me? It's the easiest way to prove I'm village.- 727 replies

Mid-Range Game 15: The Dula Revolution
Young Bard replied to Mckeedee123's topic in Sanderson Elimination
All right. In the Senate Doc, I seem to have accrued a fair amount of suspicion. I'll respond to that now. So, the reasons that are against me are: 1. I defended Eramit. I have to admit, I don't actually remember doing this. The only thing I can think of was my questioning of El, which wasn't actually a defence of Eramit, so much. It was more suspicion of Elbereth, as it went directly against the precedent (and part of the little theory that I mentioned later, now mostly disproved with the attempted kill). I had Eramit down in my head as someone to watch myself. I wasn't calling it either way just yet because they were a new player, which meant it was harder to tell what they would do, and also so they could get more of an idea on the game. Aman also said that I'd 'put a lot of thought' into defending Eramit against El. Again, I put a lot of thought into whether El could be an Eliminator, because of a gut read I was trying to make sense of. Eramit was more a by-product of that train of thought. Had I actually been defending him, I would have made a post trying to convince the whole thread, rather than asking El a specific question about precedent. 2. Casting suspicion on Cloud and Elodin, who are both confirmed good now. I was wrong about this. However, I wasn't the only one. In fact, I seem to recall that Elenion, who is the one who made this argument, agreed with me at the time. At the time, I think I could be justified for thinking what I did. Now that that's done, I'd like to point out that their should have been 2 kills yesterday (I went and re-read the rules after El reminded me the Jeskeri had a kill role). The Derethi had one, and the Jeskeri had one. So, either Mek made a mistake, one kill failed but didn't show up in the write up (Mek, are there any roles that could allow this?), or one of the 2 factions decided to not use their kill (either they forgot to get the action in on time or else they all had actions or were inactive) Oh, and by the way: Eramit.- 727 replies

Speaking for myself here, not for the faction, I can say I would be OK with this. I'm bringing it up in the doc now.

I'd like to post for great and glorious reasons, but it's quarter to one in the morning, so I'll stick a vote on Burnt. My reasoning is mainly factional, I have to be honest. Cett is by far the most powerful faction right now, as they've only lost one player, and they haven't lost any koloss whatsoever yet. The thing is, there's been very little opposition to lynching Nyali, which I would expect if she were genuinely spiked. Lekal has also lost one player (which is where I'm guessing Nyali's from if not Penrod), but they have less koloss. (BTW, you could be a little more courteous, Cett/Penrod. We did you a favor there ) Although it's also possible - quite likely if she is in fact spiked - that they either don't want to defend Nyali, or are just bussing her to soft clear themselves. I should be on a couple of hours before rollover, if everything goes to plan. So I might change my mind when I'm thinking with more than three brain-cells (or my faction mates yell at me about a lack of solidarity. That's also a possibility.)

Mid-Range Game 15: The Dula Revolution
Young Bard replied to Mckeedee123's topic in Sanderson Elimination
That's why I specifically referred to them as "Eliminators", because I wasn't certain which group would make more sense. The thing is, it's the Derethi that get the Night Kill, and it wouldn't advantage them to kill Jaime unless they thought a Derethi would replace them. One of the reasons my theory is wrong. It would require an alliance between the Derethi and Jeskeri, Night 2, with no PM's. And it's basically pot luck who gets to discover the role/alignment. It wouldn't be a gamble, it would be an unfortunate incident with a lucky save at the end. EDIT: It's also possible that Cloud is Derethi, while El is Jeskeri, and El decided not to bus cloud not because of a faction alliance, but because she was hoping there would be one. Also, there is literally no difference in the power set/victory conditions of the Jeskeri and Village (except a Doc. Docs are always handy.) We've labelled one as a kind of 'second eliminator faction', but they could just as easily be seen as a 'second villager faction'. In which case, there could be just as many Jeskeri as Villagers, or only slightly fewer, to compensate for the doc.- 727 replies

Mid-Range Game 15: The Dula Revolution
Young Bard replied to Mckeedee123's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Sorry, I've had stuff going on in real life that's prevented me from focusing on SE too much. Day 3, I'll do a full analysis of each player so everyone can see my thoughts on each player. Well, by the looks of things, Senators are at risk of assassination at the moment, which is the only reason I can imagine killing Jaime for. So, I can't actually say I'm all that eager to be a Senator if it's a death trap. By the way, I disagree strongly about that point you made. There's one doc. We need to make sure it's completely secure. Once it's been contaminated, the whole doc is worth nothing. Don't add someone unless you're certain. One thing I am trying to work out if my senator theory is correct - what does it gain them? They must know that we'll just elect confirmed villagers, in this case Cloud, to replace them, so it shouldn't really make a difference. Either a) they didn't know who else to go for, being Night 1 (which I don't really think works, with Jaime having a 20% extra chance of being protected), or b ) they want Cloud to ascend to the Senate, because he's not really a villager. Which is only possible if Elbereth is also an Eliminator. Seeing as Elbereth tried to vote for Aman instead of Cloud for the scan, and has cast suspicion on Eramit for voting and reversing when precedent has her doing something else (although the lynch tomorrow could disprove this theory - unless some sort of unspoken alliance is forming between the two eliminator factions, which I dread to think). (Mind you, I'm not viewing option b as likely at the minute. Just as a possibility.) That's the only really original thinking I've gone down this game, and there's about a 90% chance it's wrong. Oh, and Orlok, I'll try not to post any new information in the doc that I haven't already made in the thread. It helps me scan through the Senate doc if I know the reasoning (I called it the ratio decidendii in my head... My Legal Studies teacher has taught me well.) I would prefer if other Senators did the same, but I won't insist upon it. Also, to help finding relative times, I'll probably put a timestamp when I post something there (In AEST, unfortunately, but I'll label it that to remind everyone...) Oh, yes, Cloud. Despite my suspicions, you're still the closest to a villager we've got.- 727 replies

All the Shardholders came from Yolen, if that's what you're trying to get at. With our current knowledge, Yolen is the only 'origin' planet out there (except, as I'm thinking about it, the possible exception of Taldain, as White Sand is one of the earliest stories in the canon so far, after the Liar of Partinel and Dragonsteel. There is very little evidence to suggest that chasmfiends are related to the sand monsters in White Sand, however. (Though I might peruse the Way of Kings again to double check, and then confirm with the White Sand forum whether I'm allowed to post something else that's just occurred to me.)
