What do Lyras and Shallan have in common??? ...preserves...

Hasn't it been proven that staying up all night rereading Sanderson books makes the next book come out sooner??? Please tell me it's true...otherwise I have some sort of weird, compulsive reading based insomnia disorder...

Unpleasant to look at but really very sweet! The cosmere is like Alcatraz prison... -

both are awkward walk around with but sometimes make you feel taller... Shardplate is like a gym rat... -
Unless I'm mistaken...the tentative title of the last book for alloy of law era scadrial is going to be "the lost metal." It's also something briefly mentioned in story. I've always assumed that this was foreshadowing the return of atium...but who knows...could be something completely different.

Evidence Supporting Trell=Autonomy
hoidhunter replied to KnightGradient's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I personally feel that one of the biggest points supporting Trell (or...just the naughty mystery shard working on Scadrial) = Autonomy is that Brandon revealed Bavadin's intent to be Autonomy just before or after (I forget which) Shadows of self came out. Of course it could just be some clever ploy on Brandon's part to throw us off track...but I think it's more likley that he was simply releasing information that just became relevant. -
theory Gavilar's Black Sphere and its content
hoidhunter replied to manavortex's topic in Stormlight Archive
So...I'm becoming more and more certain that "anti-investiture" or "corrupted" investiture, is going to start to be a really important thing...not only in stormlight archive...but all over the cosmere. While I'm not entirely certain what the deal with the black sphere is...I think it's signifigance lies somewhere along these lines. (By the way...most of my posts contain spoilers for various books...so read at your own risk) - We have been told that WarBreaker was written prior to stormlight archive 1 specifically to introduce us to Nightblood. I can only assume this is because Nightblood's involvement on Roshar is going to be a game changer. Nightblood is an excellent example of getting a good look at anti-investiture. He basically seems to eminate a form of dark energy that dissolves (steals?) a persons soul (the innate investiture that makes sapient life possible). When he kills someone...their body turn black. - It's a bit of a reach...but...this is similar to what happens when shades from the forrest of hell come into contact with aluminum. The two energies seem to clash and the invested metal is left blackened and warped. Something really evil is (was) hanging out on the planet. - Many of the referrences to the unmade mention things like "powered by the spark of death itself"...or some other allusion to them being fueled by death, pain, sorrow, suffering, etc. - I don't want to go into specifics...but there are some other things that I wish I could referrence in LoP and White Sands. -
Well...I think this pretty much sums it up...yeah.

All excellent points. If I may add my own two cents...I think we've heard from Brandon that Hemalurgy is possible in some form or another with every system of magic. It may not be possible to alter something so fundamental to the operation of investiture in the cosmere.

There's only like 10 people there...and they all have frost on their skin? We've never actually "seen one" but are positive they exist none the less? high storms are like financial advisers. -
That's interesting. In a much earlier thread...someone was questioning why Odium would be so afraid of Harmony...when Harmony is fairly limited with what it (he) can do with it's power. The theory that I proposed...was that Harmony was eventually going to martyr himself in order to defeat Odium (or some other nasty, ill - intended shard). This is basically what Preservation does in order to defeat Ruin, and creates Harmony as a result. Preservation is too bound by it's intent to directly attack Ruin...but Vin, having just become Preservation, is not yet encumbered by it's intent. Unfortunately the two shards are so closely matched in power that they both die...but...being that Harmony is a combined shard...if it wasn't limited by conflicting intents...a new holder may be able to kick some shardic butt.

How do you decide how much sleep you're storing? You're asleep. With every other metal you're able to consciously influence the storing process. Is it like an alarm clock? How important is time sleeping vs quality of sleep? Does intent matter? (I know it does) I have so many questions...but...way off topic. sorry.

I have a hunch that Hoid stores identity while on shardworlds with "bad" shards...since they've met him they might recognize him...someone with an apparent lack of a soul may have creeped her out.

ok... by simultaneously tapping weight and strength you could throw small objects like cannonballs. combining tapping physical and mental speed alone would let you beat anyone in a "fair" fight... using gold to...not die...when your opponent thinks that you should...is a huge advantage... you remember your pre-mission briefing perfectly... you don't need to eat, drink, stay warm, sleep, or breath like everyone else. you're a lucky SOB in a fight...but bad at cards... you can give your friends super powers. Allies are inspired by you...enemies ignore you. You are both too old and too young for this "$h&?" ...hhhmmm...you can punch people really hard?

Right...so...investiture is everywhere...but it's application in varied...here it does this, here it does that...while we've only seen hemalurgy on scadrial...we've been told that it works in some way everywhere...it's destructive and it's parasitic,it requires death, it destroys investiture, and we get the feeling that it's bad overall. I'm thinking it wasn't a thing that Ruin invented...it was a tool that he employed. Sorry for the party foul by the way...I'll reign in it in...

Why are all the Rosharian chicks into Parshendi guys? They're really good listeners. EDIT: I realize after posting that this is "mistborn jokes"...not cosmere jokes... UUUMMM...What was Keilser's favorite network reality show...hint "outwit, outplay, outlast." Survivor...I'm sorry...
