That's a good point. I thought it was snarky. Besides, I do have freedom of speech. He can't tell me that there is no reason to bring any kind of comment in as long as it follows forum rules. I didn't flame against another user, I didn't swear, I didn't do anything wrong.

I wrote a prologue to this chapter, but like I said before, you don't have to read it to know what's going on in this chapter. Tell me what you think and be as harsh as possible. I am not too attached to the draft.

Seriously? I don't get to express my opinion? Really?

I think the effeminate nature of the world is derived from a cultural thing and not from a shard at all. I think the shard just let people do what they wanted. When they chose to focus on appearance, the shard was all like "Yeah, it's cool if you're gay. Whatevs."

I'm going to hold to my Nancy boy theory. Amaram soft like a woman deep down.

The visions are tests as well as messages.

Honor doesn't just mean protection. You can act with honor in a conversation just as well as you can on a battlefield. -

Interesting. A way for the Stormfather to see if he really is worthy to receive the messages from Honor. If he made selfish choices in the visions, then he might have stopped seeing the visions. I don't think it's all that true, but that would be interesting. I suppose it is possible, though. -
You know why we don't see all that much of it? Because it's just a whole cake of boring laced with who-cares frosting and writing on it that says "read anything else but this part of the book." It is seriously the most boring thing Sanderson has ever written in my opinion (I mean all the scenes set within the city).

Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!
RawToast225 replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
That could very well be the case. I might try someone else, I just don't know. Thanks for the suggestion! Today is the day. The dreaded one year marker. I have visited various places we used to hang out, had a couple decent cries, yelled at the air, and talked to a few old mentors. I hate today. Today is stupid. -
Take the inspiration from the actual map provided for us in the front of the book. No shame in that. Also, are you going to do a Cognative map?

Cosmere Philosopher Official Thread
RawToast225 replied to RawToast225's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
I will address all three points as best I can, but it may not be correct. 1. There are many religions that believe it is okay to stop one person from corrupting the whole by killing the one "bad apple." It's actually something that is talked about specifically in the Book of Mormon (the LDS scripture). It says "It is better for one to die than for thousands to dwindle in unbelief." I might not have quoted that right, but you get my point. 2. Even if spren stopped bonding so many surge binders, the Everstorm would still have come because there were still some bonds made. 3. Would you count the spren's death as innocent? Breaking the oaths kills spren. -
You know what it probably is? Amaram is a Nancy boy. He keeps his womanly habit of playing the flute (music being a feminine art) hidden in his secret room of mystery of wonder.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
RawToast225 replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When you hear some stranger say "way to think" and hear "Way of Kings." That happened at work. Imagine my disappointment when I found out the truth. Edit: Imagine my embarrassment. -
Nice! I missed that one.

When your friends are sick of talking to you because you only talk about Brandon Sanderson. -
Dude, use spoiler tags next time. I actually haven't read that book. Better yet, just put that kind of comment in the Cosmere Theories category.

I hope it's the announcement of the official release date for the last Alcatraz book. That'd be nice.

This doesn't seem like a very strong argument. It's more likely that Tien was just a good kid that had an infectiously good attitude. I know some people like that IRL. That doesn't mean that they are Radiants.

I was under the impression that the first oath is what bonded human and spren together.

Tien was a what?! I don't think that only those who are bonded with the Stormfather can receive visions because Dalinar wasn't bonded to him until after he stopped receiving visions. The Almighty just left instructions with the Stormfather about when and who should receive them. It's true that Gavilar could have made a bond with a spren that had a similar temperment to the Stormfather making him a different, but closely related, kind of Radiant. I hadn't considered that possibility. Without Gavilar's death, Dalinar would have never become the person who could bond with the Stormfather. He never would have wanted to unite anything, he never would have read The Way of Kings, he never would have followed the codes. Gavilar seems like he was already there, though. He wanted to unite the Parsheni and the Alethi together. So, if it wasn't for the desire to be like his brother, Dalinar would have never become the honorable person he was.
