I'm gonna be gone for about two years. That means that you'll be without me coming along and saying everything that's wrong with your theories . That also means that I'm gonna miss out on reading any of Brandon's new books for the next two years . Well... Goodbye . -Lantern W.

The Great Reread - General Discussion Thread
Triasmus replied to Shivertongue's topic in The Wheel of Time
I made it to The Gathering Storm. I highly doubt that I'll be allowed to finish the books while I'm on my mission, so I guess I didn't finish on time . -
Yep. One of these days I'm gonna learn how to send my thoughts out correctly .

Unless they do. I seem to recall Vin not knowing what duralumin does for a while, until she tried it while burning something else. Any allomantic abilities they might produce (which i'd imagine would be very akin to aluminum or duralumin, if they did give abilities) just aren't worth testing.

I just finished the part where Nynaeve tricks Lan into riding across the whole of the borderlands. I can imagine the letter being sent out goes something like this (of course I did have help, I only took one or two creative liberties) "The Golden Crane flies for Tarmon Gai'don. From World's End to Tarwin's Gap. Will the Uncrowned King ride alone?" Anyway, that part has been the most powerful part of the whole series for me (so far).

Well... love at first sight (or at least knowing that there will be love) does happen every once in long while, expecially when you have plenty of time to stew over how much you care for that person (that kind of stewing just heightens that kind of feeling). Especially when the person you fall in love with is as strongly ta'veren as Rand. and calling a loved one a name, such as woolhead or idiot or crazy can-apple, is different than calling somebody else a name. It's more affectionate.

He said that looking at it one way there's 30, looking at it a different way there's 10. Or something really close to that. My working thoughts on that (until better information comes along) is that each surge counts as 1, then each combination of two surges counts as 1 (so each radiant order), then each way the abilities can be obtained without being on the path of becoming a radiant (what Szeth is doing). That adds up to 30. Then the way to add up to 10 is just thinking of it in power sets. Szeth and Kaladin have the same power set, even though they got it different ways. I don't actually think that what I'm thinking is correct, it's just what I'll think until better info comes (whether by other theorizing or WoB). Onto the topic, I also believe that the Memories are related to Shallan's second surge.

Like I said (very horribly, I admit), the mists being white/black for Preservation/Ruin doesn't mean that those would be their colors. If Preservation's color was Purple and Ruin's color green, the mists wouldn't be purple or green, they'd stay grayscale. and I thought about if their real colors did go grayscale, but I decided against that since the mists are black and white, not light-gray and dark-gray (i think). Now, I'm not saying that their colors aren't black and white, if Shards do have colors attached to them. I'm saying that the color of the mists and ash doesn't say that the colors of Preservation and Ruin are black white. The following paragraph has a "might" attached to it (or the picture in my sig). I thought about it and I decided that the reason the mists are white and black is because of how opposite Ruin and Preservation are. The extreme opposite colors of what the mist can be is what was automatically picked out for them because of how opposite they are to each other. Ruin gets black because black mist won't let any light through which will Ruin plant life. Preservation gets white mainly because it's opposite of black but also because plain mist will still allow some light to filter through and it will also give life-preserving water to everything. Not because their colors are necessarily black and white, but because black and white mists follow their intents (and opposition of intents) more closely than just regular mists for the both of them.

I said this better in a future post.

just finished this last night. I glad that the taint was finally cleansed . I've been waiting for it to happen for approx 3 books. I also feel like I've been waiting for perrin and egwene viewpoints for three books, although that's probably because reading was a low priority all of last week, so I didn't get as far as I normally would have in that time .

The Great Reread - The Eye of the World
Triasmus replied to Shivertongue's topic in The Wheel of Time
I believe the first sickness was his headache in Baerlon. I didn't actually go back and count the days, but I was pretty sure that I remembered it saying a week or a week and a half or so (it was a month or two ago that I read it, so I don't know exactly what I believed). It says somewhere that the first time the sickness is ten or so days after, then it gets closer and closer until it happens almost concurrently with your channeling, I'm pretty sure I decided that the book showed us the farmer giving the scarves, then went back in the past and showed what led up to the farmer giving the scarves, then showed us the farmer giving the scarves again. It seems like It started out talking about the past and then suddenly we were in the past without even changing sentences. -
The Great Reread - General Discussion Thread

Turns out all I have to do is read 1/4 of a book a day to finish on time. Easily accomplished . -
I started re-reading them just a tad before this challenge was started. I'm on The Path of Daggers right now . Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to finish them by the time A Memory of Light comes out. I'm leaving on my LDS mission on August 15 so I'm doubting that I'll have enough time to read the rest. I'll for-suredly say how far I managed to get before I leave though . If I really decide I have to, I'll be able to read about half a book a day (unless it's 3/4 including a nap time... I don't know how far I was in A Crown of Swords when I continued my reading of it yesterday), so there's always the chance that I'll get those awards .

Those look like disgusting-looking, giant spider-flies to me, just saying.... But it is an interesting thought of greatshells pupating into them.

TLR had perfect memory (rumored, likely true), likely from compounding.

nah... it's that Vin (being lighter) gets pushed around more easily than anybody bigger. If me and my (imaginary) little sister somehow managed to get into a pushing match, and we didn't have a wall or tree to brace against, she would always fly way farther than I would, if I would even fly. Whatever Kelsier actually said, that's what he meant. And what he actually should have said is "Don't get into a pushing match with anybody who's braced better than you. And don't ever get into a pushing match without any braces, since you're lighter than everybody else." Kelsier had a wall while Vin had a tree. The wall was a better brace. Oh, with equal braces Vin would probably get smashed quicker than the other person too, since she's smaller (that is if neither person has pewter).

I figured that there was a difference between Orders and Devotaries

We had a discussion awhile ago in a different thread about the specifics of how lashing would work. I know I was arguing for what Windrunner said is how it works. I thought it was agreed upon for most of the people in the discussion that although it might be easier to think "Lash to that wall" it's actually "Lash in the direction of the wall". Unless there was confirmation, that's where the idea came from. And to add to the discussion... (if this wasn't already said) The windrunner has to be touching something for him to affect it's gravity, whether by sending it flying or making it a gravity well (which brings up the thought.. can a windrunner turn himself into a gravity well? It wouldn't necessarily be the smartest thing for him to ever do with his stormlight... but it makes sense for it to be possible.). I don't think it should be possible for him to make a spiritual-gravitational bond with a wall when he isn't touching that wall. I'm going to stop adding things, even though I really really really want to (minus the fact that I'm sick of thinking/typing) .

What happens when you turn your iron metalmind into steel? I'd assume you'd lose the charge, but do you also lose storing space?
-
There's a chance that the only reason I was able to point that out is because I read it somewhere.... (Maybe the shardic future sight theory) A piece of atium is such a small amount of the power/body of Ruin that it'd make sense for a full Shard (Ruin really doesn't count during mistborn because he doesn't have most of his power) to see a fair distance into the future with basic 100%-ness. Getting 1000s of years into the future starts to make it really difficult (or just 100s). And then it would make sense that Preservation Could see a lot better than Ruin because Ruin ended up getting trapped (chess game. Ruin likely saw that he was gonna get trapped hundreds of years before he finally was, but there was nothing he could do to stop it) and Preservation was able to make pretty accurate prophecies. I feel like I lost where I was going... Oh. and Duralumin + atium allowed Elend to see the end result of his actions (or close enough).

Shards can see the future. Sazed just might not be the most awesomest future sighter person (or he just hasn't practiced enough ).
-
If Sazed said something like that I believe it would be at the part where If you want to try finding that spot for yourself .

There's no other Spren like him... or at least, we don't know if there are. What if he's not really a Spren but nobody knows what he is so they call him a Spren because he's similar in a (few) way(s).
-
I mean Shardblades and Plate. I figured the context I used "Shards" in would minimize doubt enough . This could also explain how all of the hundreds of Shards are unique. Everybody (or every surgebinder) has a unique set of blueprints schematics(?) imprinted in their sDNA (or any other DNA) that allows Cusicesh or something else to make the Plate/Blade that fits that person like a glove, since they're "part" of the person.
