  1. note that Honor does refer to Cultivation as "she", so the Shards themselves seem to abide by that convention.
  2. actually Brandon has referred to the Heralds' swords as Honorblades, so I think that's the official name for them.
  3. I'm not really into that ship, Szeth is too old for Shallan, imho, but I gotta admit the scenario is kind of cool.
  4. there's an epigraph that indicates it was somewhere west of Alethela.
  5. no, it very specifically WAS NOT in Alethela.
  6. I prefer Condense, but I will acknowledge that surge works, I just don't like the way it sounds for some totally subjective reason. But I do agree with Chaos that I don't think the term surge will be confusing because it doesn't seem to be used as a verb in Stormlight.
  7. it's a translation convention thing, he actually used some Scadrialian metaphor but it was translated into an English one. Because Brandon couldn't resist the phrase. Which is indeed funny.
  8. (for those of you that do not know what a Chekhov's gun is see theTV tropes page) These are the ones I can think of off the top of my head, in no particular order, not counting the ones that were already fired in WoK. 1) the flute Hoid gives to Kaladin, because come on, there's no frigging way that's not coming back! (PS I asked Brandon on twitter and he said Kaladin still has the flute) 2) Those two guys Elohkar was talking to in the prologue, Szeth thinks they weren't important, which just makes me even more sure they are or will be. 3) obviously the black sphere Galivar gives to Szeth, Brandon has refused to answer questions about it and said it's a "major big RAFO" which means it's clearly a major big Chekhov's gun. 4)Baxil's mistress who is almost definitely Shalash.
  9. how would you remove etchings without reforging the metal, which I don't think they can do?
  10. I dunno I think after a certain point your brain wouldn't be able to support the level of thought necessary to keep storing because it'd be too undeveloped.
  11. Shinovar doesn't cover the whole west coast IIRC, the storms must just split around the mountains and reach the ocean to the north and south of them.
  12. I doubt a normal atium ferring could do that, they'd have to be a compounder. As for what would happen, I have no idea.
  13. No, and this is something that occurred to me as well, telegraphs were developed in the 1840's, the people in Alloy are a good 50 years beyond that technologically so they really should be able to invent the telegraph and even the telephone.
  14. your art is beautiful. Welcome to 17thshard, watch out for Chaos and his spikes.
  15. If Shallan is NOT in order 6, I will eat a hiking boot. Also, given the fact that it's strongly hinted that Jasnah interacts with the symbolspren in a different way then Shallan does, I'd say it's pretty much a given that they aren't in the same order.
  16. I wouldn't say most main characters in Valdemar are gay, but a fair number are.
  17. yeah he did, it's mentioned on page 209, incidentally it actually uses the term "spikes" whether that mans anything or is Brandon messing with us I don't know.
  18. was thinking the same thing, great, or sadistic in this case minds think alike.
  19. I ship either Shallan/Kaladin or Shallan/Renarin. Either works!
  20. Brandon's religion means he's highly unlikely to have two of his main characters in a gay relationship. Besides I don't see any signs in story that either of them has any interest in men, as for Kaladin's lack of romance, we've hardly seen him interact with any girls at all, save Laral and that kind of got torpedoed, he did seem attracted to her though. now Brandon has said that Drehy is gay, and I can totally see Drehy getting an unrequited crush on Kaladin, I doubt it'll be a major part of the plot though.
  21. it's on p. 995 of the NA hardcover edition, in ch. 75 "I cannot see the future completely, Cultivation, she is better at it then I..."
  22. actually the flamespren experiment doesn't have anything to do with entanglement, but the spanreed fabrials work in a way that clearly is meant to mimic quantum entanglement.
  23. Cultivation is actually mentioned by name in Dalinar's final vision at the end of the book.
  24. yes he did
  25. DO WANT!
