  1. Zane was also mentally unstable to begin with (which is how Ruin got the spike in him in the first place), so that doesn't help his resistance.
  2. there are between 200-300 bind points on a human body, according to Marsh's internal monologue. And yeah, I think you have to hit a proper bind point for the spike you are using in order for it to have any effect at all. You can't just stick it in any old bind point even if you just want to connect the sucker to Ruin
  3. We also learned about tempting fate.
  4. Yes Roshar has three moons.
  5. windows, though I'd like to try Linux, I'll get around to it, sometime. But I don't like mac OS. Currently using Windows XP, but probably gonna get a new computer with Windows 7 on it soonish. Skipped Vista on purpose.
  6. Guess not. And Roshar must have some insanely difficult to predict tides.
  7. only if your weight is low enough for air resistance to become a large factor.
  8. South BC. And no I don't know what David Hartwell said about Canadian authors.
  9. Nice to see more Canadians around here, there aren't enough of us, we must recruit others so we can take over the world spread joy and happiness. And I've had about as many surgeries as I've had years of life (I'm 25, lost track of exactly how many surgeries)due to numerous birth defects, and a few other things that are definitely TMI.
  10. and by "enchant" you mean "bake hallucinogenic substances into them".
  11. it's a thing with hemalurgy in general actually, it creates a hole in the person's spiritual defenses.
  12. We never had more then one week of spring break when I was in school.
  13. Hoid has some way of skipping forward in time (though he's also older in years actually lived then a normal person could manage), The Seventeenth Shard might have the same trick. As for Hoid doing some magic that Vin sensed and it freaked her, possible, but I don't see any evidence in that scene of Hoid doing anything magical so.....
  14. remember that the AA is an in-world document, and that the people writing them may not always know what the heck they are talking about, so we can't know whether the whole "spiritual bond" thing is true fax or just the interpretation of somebody that doesn't know crap about physics. Unfortunately it may require Word of Brandon to sort it out. I'm not sure Stormlight needs to have a physical part to order to be trapped by gemstones, it isn't trapped by the physical object but by it's spiritual aspect.
  15. it's like how with allomancy the power doesn't come from the metal, the metal is a gateway, and in feruchemy the stuff is not literally stored inside the metal, the metal is a gateway that allows you to store stuff somewhere else and access it later.
  16. in answer to your second question, Preservation cheated and replaced cadmium and bendalloy with atium and malatium.
  17. yeah, Brandon has said that they exist, but most people haven't encountered them and don't really know what they do.

    Hemalurgy

I'm fairly sure Inquisitors were only given allomantic and feruchemical spikes. I'd imagine it would have to have some power left in order to allow communication, though probably the power is negligible at this point as far as allomancy/feruchemy is concerned.
  19. it's in one of the epigraphs as I recall.
  20. a lot of people think that an alloy of atium and lerasium would make a Feruchemist.
  21. that is so, being an electrum/zinc twinborn would be nearly as good as having atium, at least if you had enough mental speed stored before getting into a fight.
  22. Only insofar as the personality traits that allow one to form a bond with a spren are partially genetically inherited. And also determined by environment which will usually be similar for siblings.
  23. nice!
  24. I was just gonna post a topic about this. I asked two questions from the list (and one random one of my own).
