  1. Seeing the future in a mural is a part of the Awakening magic system. And, I guess so is the stained glass Renarin sees. That could be part of light maybe? Ot its own thing? Metal, Gems, Sound, Light? Possibly rock with stone shamanism and aethers?
  2. Would be interesting if the dawnshards were all in gems at one point. Perhaps "bearer of the first gem" means other people had the 2,3 and 4th gems. We know one was different than the others, but they could all sill have been gems.
  3. Sja-anat and the Stormfather The Stormfather can make Spren, so what happens if....
  4. I was shocked that people can get different forms of Lifelight by eating different body focuses. Cannibalism magic? So cool! And such a weird connection to hemalurgy.
  5. I want a weird throwback of a Hoid intervention: The little girl that Hoid gave the awakened doll to in Oathbringer and the Little Boy who wants to be a Windrunner in ROW. Basically, I was that Little Girl of Cob and Kheni's to be someone important way later. I want her to be the reason Hoid was in the city more so than the Cryptic.
  6. In the prologue, Gavilar says to Szeth "I expected this" or some such and then says "Tell Thaidakar he is too late". Seems like Gavilar might have had a plan. And I don't see Gavilar's plan allowing for his own permanent death.
  7. I wonder how the sword was chosen. Maybe the sword had belonged to Ati at some point and therefor had some sort of connection that way?
  8. Apparently, there were rights one could do on Threnody to make someone into a cognitive shadow. I wonder if this chain was used for that purpose? If it is made from silver, and silver hurts shades, I wonder what it might do to a different kind of cognitive shadow if used with the right intent and/or command. Lastly, there is a cognitive anomaly in the Nalthis system. Is this chain useful there?
  9. There is no rule that Odium can't pick the animal up and move it! Squish
  10. If I were odium I would choose a Reshi Isle to fight for me. What now, Dalinar?
  11. Weird, I came into it thinking Taravangian completely fulfilled his deal with Odium. He completed every task he was asked to do. Burning the diagram didn't matter as Rayse had (most) of it now. Also, Odium didn't want anything more from it as far as we were told. The deal wasn't 100% honesty either, as not telling Odium about Renarin didn't break the deal. Taravangian sacrificed his life and his reputation to do the Veden attack, he got the upper Radiants out of the tower, and was slipping info to Odium. Odium came and said to Taravangian that nothing more was required of Taravangian. The deal was that Taravangian would betray allies and do everything Odium asked. There was no mention of Odium and Taravangian protecting each other physically. I honestly think the spirit of the deal was to do with information and betrayal of allies on Taravangian's part. What I am more curious is if Taravabgian can release Odium from the deal, or if Taravangian is stuck with it. I hope the deal still lives as that would make for an interesting call-back later on (especially with the theory that Kal's mother, and maybe Kal, were born in Karbrandth and therefor protected)
  12. Looks at theory it is Ba-Ado-Mishram, then looks at theory it is Adonalsium.... Oh no, what if Ba-Ado-Mishram is an Adonalsium spren!
  13. I was re-reading WoR and came across this: WoR Chapter 68 (Talking to Dalinar About Odium) "I cannot risk too much because if he finds me I then become nothing; a soul shredded and broken into pieces that cannot be reassembled. What i do here is more dangerous than you could ever know ... (Dalinar asks who he is talking about) ... the one you fight; the father of hatred" Then in Oathbringer Epilogue: "If Rayse learned that Wit were in the city he would order his forces to level it, and would consider that a cheap price for even the slimmest chance of ending him" --- But then in the RoW epilogue, Hoid goes and purposely makes himself seen and easy to find (interestingly, by going to Elokar's palace on the shattered plains and standing on stone [and probably lowering other defenses]) WHY? Why cant Odium hurt Hoid but instead can only play with breath? Hoid seemed certain he would be eradicated if he were discovered pre-RoW, but now Odium cant hurt Hoid? Has another deal been made off screen? Was Hoid safer on the stone of the palance? Does Odium need to physically apprehend Hoid? Does anyone have insight on this?
  14. I kind of think it was Odium and Cultivation. Likely Honour and Odium were wounded vessels, and Cultivation decided to sow a new crop so the new vessels could better protect Roshar. Jury is out if Cultivation herself will be replaced, but Lift sure is a neat candidate for it
  15. Tanavast was human. Windle says that Cultivation lost interest in humans now that he (Tanavast) is dead. They also often say humans are a son of Honour etc. Tanavast was human and a dragon fell in love with him somehow.
  16. I really hope you do one more where you say what you think will happen in book 5!
  17. I wonder if El is related to the term NahEL bond.
  18. The thing is, we have seen other instances of things glowing to people as well. For example Dalinar sees glowing when he hears Jasnah reading the Way of Kings at Gavilar's funeral. This is a phenomena we have seen happen with other main characters, so I doubt this is just Shallan being crazy. Shallan could have psychosomatic hallucinations, but considering the weirdness of the Davar family I think we really should be open to more. Shallan says her mother's soul is in there, and that is NOT what a deadeyespren or a shardblade are.
  19. I mean, the Cryptics knew she had done it and the Cryptics decided to try again. Surely they must have had a good reason. As Tien was also bonding one, I guess the Spren trust children more (or think they can mold them similar to why Windle was told to bond Lift).
  20. My theory does mean there must be something else going on as well, I know. But we know there is another secret and we know the family is .... strange somehow. Maybe an Unmade is doing something there too? But the Shallan Chanarach thing is very stark.
  21. 4. Shallan could see it. There is also some evidence that Lin could see it, as he is also caught staring up towards the room a couple times (for example, when Shallan's brother gets taken away and Shallan goes to Lin to beg for the money). 7. The unmade could be related to the Herald as well, but I see your point.
  22. I am increasingly fond of the theory that Shallan is the daughter of Chanarach. 1) Heralds can procreate somehow. 2) Shallan is the spitting image of Chanarach 3) Shallan's mother was involved in secret societies (much like many heralds seem to be). For a house so rural, people sure were willing to lend them soulcasters and other resources. 4) Shallan's mother's soul is said to "glow" inside that box. We all assumed that was pattern/testament, but does that make ANY sense? Maybe when a Herald dies there is a intermediate step, ad somehow Lin put her soul in a box and trapped it? Something like that. 5) Shallan was chosen TWICE. Maybe the spren wanted to bond someone familiar, and they did know Chanarash. Heck, maybe even Chanarash asked (perhaps to see if Ishar was right). Why Chanarach tried to kill her daughter is an unknown, but maybe Ihhar told her too? Who knows with a Herald. 6) Nale never comes for Shallan. Maybe Lightweaving is too "quiet", but maybe Chanarach intervened in some way. 7) The evil in the Devar home is said to be supernatural; Chanarach's divine attributes are Obedient and Brave. The corruption of Lin Davar could be said to be a corruption of those exact elements. Maybe Chararach's curse was spread to Lin somehow? Childhood Shallan herself is cowardly and disobedient afterall... 8) Shallan's disorder could be somehow related to her parentage. 9) Radiant could be the secret that Shallan is of Radiant/Herald blood 10) Messanger-Hoid was VERY surprised to see Shallan, and he takes special care of her. Maybe he recognizes Shallan for what she was (the daughter of a Herland he knew). We used to assume he saw Pattern/Testament, but Testament would have been a deadeye. Perhaps Wit saw the spren hovering around Shallan, but we have no proof of that (and the rebonding happened much later than the feast), I know there is a WOB that Shallan's parents are exactly who we think they are, but this does not change the parentage of Shallan. It just means that her mother was more than we thought (not a different person). So these elements together have me thinking Shallan is Chanarach's daughter. I am even willing to believe that Shallan IS Chanarash, but I realize that is a much harder pill to swallow (but a much MUCH sweeter lie)
