  1. They need to have been wielded by Nightblood, to have held him and gotten the whole "Nausea or Manic Greed" test (during which he's feeding on their Investiture). Its possible that he creates a similar Connection to the people he's wielded against in a stabby way but (these days) literally nothing of them last long enough to really test it.
  2. We've been told we'll get there but he has teams still working on the math. To clarify, Magical Power is "Investiture", and in the Cosmere Investiture is a 3rd relativistic form of existence alongside Matter and Energy. So it will follow it's own pseudo-science rules and it's interaction with hard science is always going to be squishy, and in-world is likely to be very Subjective thanks to realmic Perception and Intent the Cognitive Realm having so much core presence. But the idea is that as the cosmere continues, the in-world cultures will develop more scientific mindsets and terms to describe Investiture to mirror RL development of Science, until the eventual Space Age of the Cosmere where characters will describe Investiture in quantified terms like BEU's (Breath Equivalent Units).
  3. Lifeless are going to be a special case because they are ReAwakened people with Connections to the original Spiritweb, carry-over skills, etc. and usually have functional eyeballs, eardrums, etc. But for them and for general Awakenings like the cloth, I'd assume it's generically based on Lifesense when at a distance, something like Steelsight but relative to Life rather than Metals. And probably a more traditional tactile sensation when actually touching something. Separately, WOB confirms that Nightblood can sense the Location of Vasher because he has previously Fed on his Investiture and that Connected them. So that's one method of Connection-based tracking your bounty hunter might be able to leverage.
  4. As they say it's kind of up in the air right now. Within the fandom generally/currently: "Singer" is the Race, "Listener" is a specific sub-culture within that race, and Parshendi/Parshmen are derogatory terms that only the humans used. Honestly I think that more directly applies to Listener right now, since it was until recently a very specific genetic group (the ones not trapped in Dull-form). They started as a splinter group based on political/religious/philosophical differences, over the generations that became synonymous with a distinct lineage/ethnicity, but now that the rest have awakened from Dull-form there's becoming examples of people Choosing to become Listeners for reasons mirroring the original Splinter (or Choosing to leave the Listeners and follow Odium) it once again has the ability to be more of an affiliation.
  5. Maybe? There certainly could be an issue with the two maintained investiture effects interacting with each other. But on the other hand, theoretically the Stamp object itself doesnt matter much, rather the Shape of the stamp imprint and the nature of the Ink are what govern it. And per other WOBs just interacting with other Investiture effects doesnt innately Break the Forgery enchantment (you can steal Forged Spiritweb chunks with Hemalurgy, for example) unless it actually disrupts the shape Seal Imprint (by eating or Burning the forged material, etc). To maintain things you're still likely to need to reapply Both Seals periodically, so it would really be most efficient to Forge the Seal to be better Once and then manually copy the resulting pattern onto a new stamp. Side questions that I think are relevant: The question on Forging Soulstamp itself boils down to whether a Soulstamp (the object, not the imprint) can be Invested in some manner without getting disrupted during the Stamp application Process. If it does (or even just sometimes can) that raises Corollary questions: Can a Bonded Spren form themselves into a functional Soulstamp? Can a Soulstamp be created from Aetherbound Materials? Can a Soulstamp be carved into the back/blunt side of a Hemalurgic Spike and/or metalmind to function as both? Can you have Stamp on the front of brass knuckles and punch a hostile Stamp on somebody mid fight?
  6. Fun thought experiment! Ok, there are two ways to go about this general Idea: Forge the Stamp, or Forge the Forger. Either requires a plausible alternate timeline-esk explanation of the difference. To forge the stamp you'd need a Forger capable of the final product, but you might be able to forge it to a state where you spent all your time and energy on that one stamp (rather than ten simultaneous project); so you couldt Forge a Stamp that is beyond your capabilities, but you might be able to Forge a mediocre example of your stamp-craft into your Best Work, and thus maximize your output. Taken a step further, if a Master Forger had 10 apprentices, but he made a weekly habit of randomly choosing one of their Stamps to examine and perfect, all ten of the journeyman efforts would have a Plausible path to being a Masterpiece beyond the original apprentices skill-level. To forge the Forger you'd simply need to be able to explain an alternate life path that made them better than they already are, which is going to require a plausible alternate life-path to make it happen. The easiest would be to forge yourself into a specialty at the expense of another (ie. I spent all my time on Forgery and didnt waste any practice time or effort on Learning a musical instrument or another language or whatever). You might be able to forge yourself into a version that was Accepted by a better Teacher or School early on and so they didnt have to struggle to learn their skills alone or unlearn bad practices from inferior examples, etc. But if you've already always been a dedicated practitioner or even a prodigy, then you likely arent going to be able to increase your skills beyond what you naturally achieved already.
  7. Theoretically yes. Harmony sets the precedent that a single person can hold multiple Shards and WOB says that doing so has mingled them to the point that they would not separate without effort. Rayse never wanted to do that because he didnt want to deal with the added internal personality Pressures that would come from holding several, but that was just a personal Choice rather than an actual Limit. That being said, the Rhythm of War certainly implies that an Odium + Honor combination would not be a particularly passive or docile combination (at least compared to "Harmony").
  8. Started Windrunner but violated his oaths, then got picked up the Skybreakers and swore fealty to the Dark Bondsmith Palpatine as his 3rd Ideal. Kratos (ie God of War)
  9. For purely Doylist reasons I dont see Moash dying any time soon, to be honest, though I could easily see Szeth and/or Nightblood dramatically killing almost anyone. Moash is just too useful to the Bridge4 storylines, and he's one of the very few unBonded cast with significant development left. For that last reason alone I somtimes wonder if he isnt going to end up bonding the Nighwatcher as a dark parody of a Bondsmith.
  10. Nice! If somebody were really excited and wanted to rave about the new stuff, or maybe beg you all for some variant of the new merch (a Coppermind logo keychain, for example) is there a place for that sort of thing that doesnt overload your inbox, perhaps a subforum for the Store the way there is for the Coppermind and Arcanum? Speaking of that, will the store be getting a similarly cheeky Cosmere-referencing name as the Coppermind and Arcanum?
  11. Ehhhh.... I think it would be theoretically possible but only if the spike had a complete and functional Soul in it and not just a ripped fragment of one. Whatever is serving the spren role needs to be functionally Awake enough to provide some level of Intent, and the average spike is a fragment that only works when plugged into a living/functional Spiritweb. On the other hand, if that one theory suggesting that Electrum Metalminds are actually storing Intent (where the Manic/Despressive slider described in WOB is just what happens when you tap or store non-specific Intent) then you might be able to use that without an actually Awake Investiture involved (spren, mortal, lifeless, etc) or even to Create such an awakened Entitity. In fact that might be what later Comere residents mean by "Awakened Metalminds".
  12. Side note: With Fabrials the metal governs a lot of the effect, but the baseline/categorical Power is defined by the Spren involved, and I suspect the spren is providing a critical piece of the Intent in the . Investiture + Intent + Tuning = Effect Investiture + Spren + Metal = Effect If for the sake of Theory we assume that metallic Arts are tapping the same realmic effects, I propose that we frame Allomancy as what happens when Preservation is filling the "Spren" role, while Feruchemy is what happens with a mortal/Scadrian is in that role. I also suspect you could replace the Spren with an Awakened Object if it had the proper Command. Which essentially means Nightblood is just an Awakened Fabrial, where the Intelligence (Nightblood himself) is Invested in the "cage" metal (The Sword's original Steel). In other words Nightblood the Sword represents a Steel-based Fabrial with an artificially created spren of the "Destroy Evil" Type, and a remarkably non-denominational appetite.
  13. Honestly I'd just like to design the Prison.
  14. Yes, the idea was born of his desire to have a pet sea slug:
  15. That seems like a pretty fine line, to the point that it might get influenced by Perception and Intent. Things like Sea Shell Sand, Fire Ash Clay, fossils, etc. could all fall into a grey area. Are they Awakening the Mineral Powder that happens to have an Organic Binder & Focus, or are they Awakening a bunch of Organic matter with a mineral Thickener? Going back to Fire Ash Clay, It's made from cremated organic sources, and you could still use organic binders. It's inferior to mineral clay in terms of long term water resistance and such, but it's functional. But if the Awakener isnt aware of that nature would they be able to Awaken it? If they have a PhD in Organic Chemistry and consider anything with Carbon to be an "Organic" Chemical, would that change the awakening landscape for them?
  16. We know very little about any of the manifestations of Investiture from pre-shattering, and most of that comes from vague WOBs. We don't really know where any of the magics came from, if they were fueled directly by BigA the same way Shards do now, if BigA needed to Invest in a world the same way, etc etc. We know the Aethers and Dawnshards were around and that they dont really count when it comes to BigA's power, we know Dragons had access to Investiture to some extent, and we know that Roshar had weirdness with a Highstorm and with Investiture-in-gems. Hoid mentions that by comparison Radiant Lightweaving is so easy that it feels like cheating, but that might be referencing original Yolish Lightweaving or just a potential lesser version that Yolish Lightweaving became after the shattering (the sort of more "suggestive" lightweaving he was using in Warbreaker, for example, with all the colored sand, etc).
  17. Generally speaking, yes, it seems to tune itself to (kintetic?) Investiture and then burn it's Investiture substance to continue to emit that same tuned investiture. It also does change the behavior of the initiating power, specifically in terms of the nature of it's target/area of effect, some nuance to play with there. You might be able to make a Zone of Youth, an area that actively dea-ages anyone that walks into it (presumably varying the rate of use of the Harmonium). Side Note, since Breaths seem to do similar things natively with adopting the target's Indenty (or it's own new one with Lifeless) I strongly suspect you could do many similar things with the right Commands, perhaps refill pre-tuned Metalminds, mimic some of ettmetal's Functionality (subject to Investiture SBU quantities, etc), and generally do a lot of diverse things with Investiture & Matter when Commanded and provided a template effect Tuning from some other source.
  18. Just for a different thought entirely: What happens if Dalinar takes up the Honor Shard and still manages to Lose the Contest by some quirk or loophole? What happens to to the various Balances of Power when one Shard's vessel (and Honor's at that) has Sworn his "Soul" and Servitude to another?
  19. Possibly, but probably nowhere near the same scale. Stormlight is Pure investiture manifested as a Gas, so it will have some measurable mass the same way a godmetal or shardpool fluid would. Separately, Massive amounts of investiture will warp space and time like a gravity well, so technically that would imply that any Investiture should have similar if microscopic impacts on the definitions of weight itself, nearby, as part of the whole Matter/Energy/Investiture relativity law of the cosmere. So a Full metalmind might prove out to be measurably heavier than an empty one, but I suspect it'll be on the same impractical scale as how you can technically use Relativity to calculate the mass of a given quantity of Sunlight. 20. They were/are a culture on Roshar, notable for their metallic gold-blond skin and hair.
  21. Welcome to the Shard! It's also worth noting that the Feeding requirement is not actually a result of the Divine Breathe itself, rather it's due to the Returned being Cognitive Shadows that need investiture to sustain them. That part will feed on any Investiture available in the person (more or less like Nightblood) and will take normal breaths, the divine breath, or other available Investitures. WOB confirms that Stormlight works without first converting it to Breaths (which would be a big breakthrough) and we know that White Sand or allomancy and/or feruchemy would work (but the Mists might be problematic?).
  22. I think it's just supposed to be thematic of Ruin's connection to Hemalurgy and general spikiness, in the same way that [SA]
  23. Per WOB it's possible but highly unlikely that Harmony would split to anything other than preservation and ruin. But they have merged enough that it would take effort to split them even if Sazed died.
  24. If I had to guess, and this is a 100% guess, Id think they'd have Investiture Breath, as in a gaseous form of pure Investiture like Breaths or Stormlight, that they could then presumably learn to shape in lots of creative ways on it's way out the face-door. Essentially, what Larkin Inhale, Dragons Exhale. I think, anyway.
