  1. Fascinating! So a deadeye shardblade that is sufficiently Connected to the wielder (naturally/typically by being their original Bonded Radiant) they will grant Surges, somewhere between an Honorblade and a Twin Surge Fabrial, depending on how much of the generic Radiant package they'd also grant. Hell, maybe that's what they were after, a middle ground between the Radiant bond and whatever "sacrifice" they consider it to become a Fabrial. This seems like something Navani will want to study with Maya, and could well have the Powers to modify appropriately. Fwiw, I think increased Connection will have more to do with it than the Identity Blanking medallions use, mostly because (I assume?) spren maintain a lot of their own Identity even throughout the bond. Also, to the sparking project:
  2. Regarding your original/title question, and to temper expectations, we don't currently know much of anything for certain about the Wyrn, so most of what we could offer is theory and that particular mystery isn't yet solved in the story. We do know he has some sort of precognitive ability, and by the shared magic rules the Cosmere novels all use that typically implies Spiritual Realm shenanigans rather than Cognitive Realm ones. But there are always special cases, Sel has several of them.
  3. All Aon's are drawn by starting with a single Aon "Aon" and then adding more shapes, usually at least one more Aon, other abstract shapes, occasionally specific other geographic features). But since Raoden only had to draw a single Chasmline to make Elantris' Aon Rao work again, I think it only needs to be added to that first foundational Aon, note every additional one. Aon Eno is another good example, it include a single instance of the River squiggle, even though it's built of four Aon Aon's. Ditto with Aon Mea and the weird Life density mark corresponding to a fertile valley, even though it's built of six Aon Aon's.
  4. Based on some of his other statements about individuals with odd sensory things (like color blind or synesthesia with Heightenings), it would depend on whether the person had lost their sight or never had it. If they'd lost it I think they're they're likely to get a visual version of the Steelsight, but if they had never known sight and had no cognitive reference for it (which is more often the case with the dream example he mentioned) I think they'd get the information in some sensory framework they had (auditory would be my guess). EDIT: An interesting question worth asking if anyone gets the chance: Could a congenitally blind person receive some form of Metal-sense through a spike in the ear?
  5. Agreed, we'd need an isolated population that had Lerasium seed Mistborn but no Lerasium Mistings to muddy the generational progression and dilution down from strong mistborn to weak to mistings only.
  6. I don't think "Lerasuim Mistborn" have any set strength advantage just for being first generation from the metal, it all has to do with how much Lerasium you get. A sliver of it would make a very weak mistborn, but they'd still be a Lerasium Mistborn (technically).
  7. Shardblades and shardplate are both the same general alloy of Tanavastium and Koravellium per WOB and can be considered the same thing. Honorblades were long believed to be pure Honor (and an older WOB said as much), but with RoW the fact that they can apparently grant a Pure Surge of Cultivation implies she was involved and/or supporting her mate in the effort.
  8. Unless there ends up being something extra special about the Honorblades that makes them burn differently (as a Feruchemcially charged metal, which they resemble) the easiest source of godmetals is broken Plate. You can easily break pieces off (compared to the practically invulnerable blades), and then use it as a distillation machine to turn Stormlight into Godmetals. I think we will eventually learn if/how Honorblades can be repaired, and what that looks like might illuminate all this.
  9. There are conflicting WOB's on whether you can burn non-Scadrian Godmetals without other steps to make it work. But from there, we cant really say since all metals have different burn rates. A bag of Atium beads was enough for Marsh to compound a few centuries of youth before it ran out, but that's our only actual example of Burning a Godmetal. But as far as I know there is no known way to make Allomancy burn metals without getting them inside you, any more than you can make Hemalurgy work without insertion; the Inward/Outward divide is pretty fundamental to the metallic arts.
  10. It is but the regrown soul is not the same per WOB, and in the case of memories the Investiture hard drive sector could be regrown but the pattern would be lost (similar to that Breath Memory encoding/forgetting trick from Warbreaker).
  11. I dont think it would augment anything if you implanted it, but I think the only way to "Steal" the ability to do Hemalurgy would be to use Copper to steal the memories of how to use it. But they Die in the process so it might be moot.
  12. There are limits to how much actual Investiture a given piece of physical matter can hold (and it's likely to be less than the equivalent Godmetal made of pure Investiture). You cannot fit a shard in a spike of non-astronomical size. Burning "literal tones" of compounded Nicrosil wont do it. I think at best those sorts of methods might Connect you enough to grab the Shard when it's temporarily unClaimed (as with that Ire sphere). But if taking up the entire Well of Ascension could not take a Shard away from it's previous owner, nothing in the reach of single Allomancer/Compounder is likely to be able to pull it off before their Spiritweb is Savanted into Oblivion.
  13. It's probably the weirdest one, but within the bounds of the Metallic Arts: Attribute. Attributes are the things Ferrings store, Powers are the ability to do the storing (or the ability to burn a metal).
  14. Eventually yes, probably around the WoR Kickstarter if nothing else. Leatherbound restocks tend to happen when they go back to the printers for something else/new, but I dont think we have any actual release dates. Reprints of WoK may or may not have all the same "upgraded" features that were Kickstarter stretch goals (slip case, upgraded leather, etc).
  15. A lot will depend on the actual capabilities of Division, and maybe what sort of Resonances the Skybreakers get with it and Gravitation. For example, I strongly suspect the Lightning powers of Stormform are an application of the Division Surge. If that's both true and a power that Radiants can replicate, that sort of ranged attack will give the Skybreakers an decent advantage and a better chance to hammer through the Windrunner's shardplate.
  16. The Dawnchant is the language of the ancient Singers and is "the root of the Dawnate language family, consisting of the Shin, Parshendi, and Horneater languages. While the vocabulary of these languages varies greatly, they share similar grammar.[2]" I think the language of the immigrants just became the basis for some/most of the other languages still floating around (potential world-hopping alien influences notwithstanding). But Language overall wouldnt have been an insurmountable barrier for them, they'd have been using a lot of Connection shenanigans to understand each other. The Immigration and the first War and Fused and whatnot all happened within a single generation, so culturally things were moving very quickly.
  17. Leecher/Feruchemist, but that's making a lot of my own assumptions on how Fortune (and Fortune Compounding) might work, but i suspect it would make at least as hard to kill as a a bloodmaker. Gold might be the only other thing in the running at all.
  18. Outward is focused on the world at large, inward is literally more about their own state of it. So like Cultivation is about making something else More than it was, while Ambition is about making yourself more than you were.
  19. We cant really say for sure, since we don't know how Shades work, and Cognitive Shadow is a pretty category. That Cognitive Shadow passed to Beyond because it was being sustained by an external Connection (the Oathpact) and the gem prison cut them off from it. A Spren (which is very similar to a CS in most respects) doesnt have that problem, and there's at least one more that was (apparently) infused with enough Investiture to just persist on its own, so that one might be ok with a gem prison.
  20. Since we are ignoring all elements of culture or morality and only talking about what it technically possible: Earth wins with ICBM's, Nukes, and Chemical/Biological Warfare. But if Roshar ever gained Earth's scientific understanding, Lightweaving and Soulcasting alone would be able to match and overpower all of Earth's advantages. Scadrial has some alternative tech but in era2 none of it would move the needle against modern technological warfare, just on 1:1 fights. Nalthis and Sel are both wildcards because we dont know what most of those planet's cultures are actually capable of (or what the upper limits of Nightblood's siblings might be). Nalthis's Zombie army would be initially crazy powerful, but unless they can manufacture breaths from other Investiture and not just Birth, they'll run out eventually. But until then they'll scare the crap out of Earth and likely get moved to the front of their annihilations list. How would would that sort of offensive look? Aside from soulcasting one soldier's CR flame at a time, they wont have any abilities that can cross the boundary either, right? PS: there's a great anime called Gate, where a portal to a fantasy world opened in modern Japan and the military took it over. It showcases just how absurdly overpowered modern militaries are compared to any sword&board era.
  21. From this WOB, they are going to lean toward Cognitive Realm Stuff, and in general they are low-powered magics unlike the main Shardworlds that have more Investiture available/involved. So I think any of the internal Sensory magic effects would be viable, from basic senses to Life Sense to Seekers to Allomantic Gold, probably even Death Rattles too. You wont get the high-Power effects that would need more than a person's natural (feruchemical level) effects like Soulcasting or Elsecalling or time bubbles, I think, but you might get some weak Healing. Perfect memory, something akin to Copperminds or the Lightweaver memory trick. Mated birds that are Connected and can act like Spanreeds. Maybe one that Connects you to the locale enough to get the language.
  22. Yup: Microkinesis granted the ability to see axons as well as the Spiritweb itself. Basically, in the cosmere, the Quantum scale that blurs the lines of traditional physics will start just crossing over to the Spiritual Realm.
  23. Im barely convinced there's any actual Metal left in the blade. At this point it's all collapsed into a Perpendicularity; it's a scar in reality with a handle attached.
  24. It varies by attribute. There's no set rate limit on Tapping Metalminds the way there is for Burning in Allomacy, so in theory you can flush your entire store all at once or pretty close. Wax does this to get dramatic. But for others there can be practical limits. Pewter makes bulky muscle and per WOB eventually your limbs just cant move. Gold wont make you any more than Perfectly healthy so once you are healed up it has nothing more to really do. Im not sure what "FiVe TiMeS-Awake" would be (coffee induced "fake awake" is different and can be stored as a separate flavor, per WOB). "Determination" is a sliderbar between a Manic state and and Depressed one, and Im not comfortable commenting on what levels might exist for those as Im entirely unqualified.
  25. That's a good point, and the nomenclature has been used differently. I think I'd call it a Bondsmith if it was a 5-tier Radiant Bond with a Powerful/Unique Sapient spren (which also probably requires a significant direct Connection to a Shard, as the known 3 do). I would struggle to call them a "Bondsmith" if that doesnt include Adhesion, if for example the Sibling got UnMade successfully in RoW and then bonded somebody, but then I think we'd just be needing names for all the Voidbinding Variant Orders (Renarin included. We know we dont know all the history so twists are always on the table, but the whole Adhesion is "Not of Odium" bit might have been historically true for the Fused but no longer as relevant/binding now that Odium is Invested in Roshar enough to develop his own Pure Tone. It's still called VoidBinding, after all. Which is just to say if a Bond happened now it's possible that an Enlightened spren (or something equivalent) with a Bondsmith-level Connection to Odium would still grant the Spiritual Adhesion as a development of the new Era. This is largely based on the idea that what makes a Godspren capable of forming a Bondsmith with their Radiant Bond is that the Spren themselves possesses a huge (sliver-esk level) Connection to the Shard(s) in question, and on the fact that the main characteristic of the Nightwatcher is that she's not as Connected as the rest but she still creates a Bondsmith. My inner child who loves over-the-top anime fights hopes the Voidbinding variant of a Bondsmith would get Spiritual Division instead of spiritual Adhesion, and we have to call them "OathBreakers" or something instead of Bondsmiths, ripping holes between Realms rather than Merging them and similar flavor inversions. Also: Nice! Congrats on the Milestone!
