Ruin and Cultivation are compatible per WOB, as are Odium and Honor (had the vessel's personalities been different). I feel like Dominion and Ambition would have pair well into something like Conquest, but probably not peasant to be around. I thought Devotion and Endowment at first, but Endowment is specifically about a No-Strings-Attached theme and Devotion seems like it'd be a little too Pro-Connection. But all of that is probably within the variance range of the Vessel's interpretation of the Shardic Intent.

It's too "corrupted" in the sense of being changed to a new form of Investiture that is no longer Breaths, Stormlight, actual Body&Souls of people, etc. But it does now have some Ruin in him, and the main theory on that is that his Destroy Command forged a Connection to the closest representative Shard.

That says that each Order with a spren race attached has a corresponding UnMade and that the Godspren/Bondsmiths dont fit the pattern. I dont think that would prevent the unmade from becoming a Bondsmith Godspren, they'd just have a particular Order leaning the same way the Stormfather has a closer relationship to the Honorspren.
-
The two big things people point to saying it's possible are the word choice in the Gem Archive that called it "Seditious" rather than "Impossible" to have more than Three Bondsmiths, and how the Sibling in RoW said he was being UnMade. But the origins of the UnMade overall are very mysterious, and could vary from one to the next. Why? I only ask because I tried to make a for and against list and off the top of my head I couldnt come up with anything against the idea (other than maybe the simple fact that Rayse Never did it as far as we know). Personally, I think it's possible for the intelligent UnMade but not the bestial ones, though I could accept that they'd have to be specially (un)made for that purpose and the theorized Everstorm Spren was the first to try.

Soulcasting: Mass and Volume Preservation
Quantus replied to arandomperson1234's topic in Stormlight Archive
Soulcasting has a ton of basic Default settings that can be overridden (from the Essences down), with the caster's Intent adding the details. It is mass conservative when the goal is just the material itself (poop to smoke, stone to food, etc) but when the Form is the whole point and they just want to change the material (rope to bronze, corpses to statues, the armor example) then it become Volume conservative. It would be interesting to find out eventually if there is a difference in the Investiture cost of the two circumstances. -
If that was the Radiant's Intent, possibly. But generally I think it ignores vapor and dust and those sorts of things that can be the bane of normal RL adhesives. The anti-humidity Fabrial Navani designed essentially does this, and seemed to act like a Reverse Lashing that was selective by Essences since she was afraid it would accidentally suck blood. When a Radiant does those it's a combination of Gravitation and Adhesion, but Surge Fabrials where supposed to be beyond her so it's presumably some adjacent effect that requires a lesser spren.

Odd asymmetry at the end of OB (OB spoilers)
Quantus replied to Marabout's topic in Stormlight Archive
That being said, it would not be out of theme for those assumptions to be a fake-out, and we see Ash become "true" Lightweaver representation and Shallan go through some more trauma that attracts an Ashspren. I mean, if hypothetically Shallan managed to Deadeye a second spren, I easily could see her devoting herself hard to the Dustbringer concepts of Self-Master and Handling Power with Care. She's be pretty resistant to speak the Words again, but she wouldnt be the first radiant to resist, and we're talking about several years and a timeskip away. -

She's also one of the 10 POV/Flashback characters, and Dustbringer is the only Order unaccounted for among that roster. -
Mistborn, Feruchemist, Awakener, Surgebinder or Elantrian?
Quantus replied to Ati16's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think I'd go with the 5th Heightening, though Feruchemy is a strong 2nd. But the 5th is the most low-key (and mostly permanent) immortality around, and the sensory upgrades have always fascinated me. -

Nothing but the cultural/scientific understanding of the radiant and the Spren: -
Mistborn V.S. 3rd Ideal Lightweaver
Quantus replied to Wits instant noodles's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Agreed, theoretically the mistborn might be able to Flair enough to Invest themselves past the reach of Soulcasting, but it would be hard to keep up that burn for long and Duralumin would shorten the burn duration too much to be an effective. And then they just Soulcast their clothing or the air or whatever. Mistborn are strong and versatile, but all the powers that really turn Fullborn into an "I Win" Button come from the Compounding side (and mostly are just the combo of Gold, Zinc and Steel compounding). -
Mistborn V.S. 3rd Ideal Lightweaver
Quantus replied to Wits instant noodles's topic in Cosmere Discussion
If the Radiant can Soulcast Aluminum from the air they can counter a whole lot of the Mistborn's powers. And unlike Radiants, a Mistborn cant heal and still needs to breath, so they could soulcast all the surrounding air into Cyanide or pure N2 or something equally poisonous and drop the mistborn before they can burn. A Soulcasting Radiant (either Order) only looses by Surprise or when Stormlight supply becomes limited. -
That is assuming Division can be used at range rather than Touch, otherwise they'd need to be able to catch the bullet before they could dissolve it. That may prove to be the case but I dont think it's likely. However if we see evidence of Dustbringers being capable of burning arrows mid-flight, then that would certainly change the balance of power.

Assumption: Full Mistborn with understanding of 16 base metals but not unlimited atium or it's alloys). Misborn 9 times out of 10. Without access to Plate or Reverse Lashings the Skybreaker has nothing to counter the ranged ballistic attacks of a Coinshot, especially if duralumin-boosted. The Skybreaker would require luck and ambush tactics to get in a shardblade strike or other significant damage (orbital Bonbardment, etc), and Speed Bubbles plus electrum make that unlikely (but not impossible). So unless the can get lucky, the Mistborn can pour on the damage from a distance until the Skybreaker runs out of healing. Either could use Aluminum and similar tricks for advantage so that's not going to tip the scales one way over another.

I've long thought Yes, though I tend to think it would require Ignorance of what a Breath is and what the Healing is doing, to preserve the Intent of it all. So long as they think the terrible feeling when they become a Drab is a Sickness that needs to be healed, I think it would work. But if they ever start thinking of the Breath as something Separate from themselves I fear it wouldnt work anymore. But we dont know for sure, and it's a plot-relevant in-world Mystery so it will probably be a while before we get any confirmation.

The Former, I assume, since they did have access to several forms of Investiture: Lightweaving, Microkniesis, Aethers, Dawnshards, Investiture-in-gems (may or may not have been present off Roshar), Dragon magic (shapeshifting at least, maybe other stuff).

She may not be talking about Migration. The populations of both Scadrial and Nalthis were Created by their Shards to mimic the Yolish, they arent actually of a linage that can trace back to Yolen. And there were populations on other worlds besides Yolen prior to the shattering, even if it originated there (Cant find that WOB atm but I've seen it, sorry).

No to Muscle memory: RE Compounding, we dont know and he's staunchly RAFO'd all questions. Personally, I think it allows for Copying the Memory (either making copies in Metalminds or Allowing you to retain it while storing). Otherwise it seem waaaay too suspicious that Hoid managed to get such a uniquely incriminating first-hand Memory from That Guy.

I think so too.

Gravitationspren/Luckspren/Mandra would make sense for Skybreakers, as would Starspren. I cant really explain my logic for this, but of the known and/or commonly seen kinds, I think Awespren will be the Truthwatcher plate spren.

Kandra and Singers/Listeners/Parshendi
Quantus replied to ViciViciBoBici's topic in Cosmere Discussion
WOB says they cant actually get the Spren Bond, so they could fake Forms but not actually get the benefits. I generally think that would apply/extend to the spiritual nature of the Rhythms, and certainly the "new" Odium Rhythms that require a Voidspren in the mix even for Singers. But I do think they could hear Rhythms if they incorporated a real Singer's bones and Gemheart. And apparently they could use Gem Bones as a Gemheart. Now, a Kandra with Bronze allomancy could hear Rhythms.- 1 reply

The usefulness of Hemalurgic Copper
Quantus replied to JustQuestin2004's topic in Cosmere Discussion
1) Yes to all, I think. You can steal that which you could store with F-Zinc (or F-Copper for Memories). 2) I think they'd get fuzzy the same way they do when stored/retrieved into Grey Matter 3) Probably since Memory can be stored in either. But there's most likely some Identity Muddling involved. See WOB below. My remaining question is whether a memory in a Spike get Removed when you recall it (as with Metalminds), and I think the answer is No since you stole the whole spiritual Hard Drive rather than making a copy of the content. -
I dont think so, on the logic that the nature of the body changes when it dies: it goes from flame to bead and starts getting treated as meat by shardblades. The fused come in and boot out the Soul/cognitive shadow of the living Singer and take control, but I dont think Fused have what it takes to also animate the inanimate, that seems to be one of the main qualitative differences between Fused and whatever the Thunderclast are. So the Fused would have to take a living (or extremely recently dead) Singer during the Everstorm, and being in the Storm with a Gemheart is likely to Invest the Singer a bit and extend that window of time somewhat. It doesnt appear so, they need a Gemheart to pull it off as far as we can tell. The closest we've seen is with that one UnMade, and the host still needed to swallow a Gem.

So it sounds like it won't change the Range (AoE vs Touch vs Self, etc) out of the box, but he might be open to that as a future tech development. That might leave targeted Leeching with a contact object (Id go whip or Net over grenade) that could possible affect multiple targets at once but it would need contact and not actually radiate any distance. Once they learn to play with Connection more like a Bondsmith they might be able to Connect the effect to other things or at range somehow, I envision metal particulate cloud grenades before they get to radius bubbles. Side question: Consider the tactical use of a grenade that spreads powered aluminum over an area/Target. I could see that being both a boon or a curse depending on the circumstances. Thoughts?

Mistborn V.S. 3rd ideal Windrunner
Quantus replied to Wits instant noodles's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Oh, 1000% a wasted use of what is probably the most powerful and versatile Investiture out there, but if they ever figure out how to manufacture Breaths from some other Investiture (and there are several theories on how to do it, mine involves feruchemical Gold Healing and mild psychological abuse) they'd be able to move huge amounts of investiture around the cosmere and use it for basically anything.
