  1. Seriously. Who does Shalash think she is?
  2. Windrunner: Protecting, Leading....................................Adhesion and Gravitation Skybreaker: Just, Confident............................................Gravitation and Division Releaser: Brave, Obedient..............................................Division and Abrasion Edgedancer: Loving, Healing..........................................Abrasion and Progression Truthwatcher: Learned, Giving........................................Progression and Illumination Lightweaver: Creative, Honest........................................Illumination and Transformation Elsecallers: Wise, Careful...............................................Transformation and Transportation Willshapers: Resolute, Builder........................................Transportation and Cohesion Stonewards: Dependable, Resourceful...........................Cohesion and Tension Bondsmiths: Pious, Guiding............................................Tension and Adhesion If the Doctor lived on Roshar, which order of the Knights Radiant do you think he would join? Personally, I think his different incarnations would choose different orders. Nine might be an Edgedancer. Although he doesn't seem very loving at first, he ultimately proves to be full of for the universe around him. He definitely remembers those who have been forgotten. Ten spends a lot of his time trying to protect his friends. Although he attempts to avoid attention, he ends up being a leader over and over again. He protects those who cannot protect themselves, and he offers to save his enemies' lives (even though they always refuse). I think that the current doctor would make a great Elsecaller. He's wise, he's careful, and he is willing to make the hard decisions, even if others think he is doing the wrong thing. I'm not sure what order the Eleventh Doctor would join. All I know is that he wouldn't be an Edgedancer.
  3. Dang it. I really want a Dustbringer book. And what about having one book for each order? Hmmm... hahaha ok funny idea: What if Shalash somehow became de-herald-ized, then joined the Releasers?
  4. Brandon said that Ash is a POV character in the back half of the series. We know that Ash is Shalash's nickname. But what if somebody else had the same nickname? I don't expect this to happen, because I doubt Brandon would lead us astray like that. But I do think that it would be awesome if it did. What if Adolin becomes a Releaser and Ash is the name of his spren? It would be a great name for a spren that gives you fire powers.
  5. You didn't think Shallan was funny in Words of Radiance? I thought she was much better in WoR than she was in tWoK, and I think she will continue to get wittier as the books go on. Someone once asked what would happen if Shallan tried to go toe to toe bantering with Hoid. He said that at this point, she would be torn to threads, but that that could change in the future as she gets more experience. Edit: I found quotes! from http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/7267-words-of-brandon-compiled-x-2/ Q: Who would win in an argument, Shallan or Lightsong? A: [laughs]Lightsong. More practice. Maybe Shallan would eventually be able to hold her own but at this point he would win. ... Q: Do we get to see any good banter between Wit and Shallan? A: She is not quite ready yet to be on his level. And if you watch in the series, her use of humor will mature. In fact you should be able to notice the difference between these two [books] even. By later books, she will be able to stand a little bit better. Right now, he would rip her to shreds.
  6. Wow. What's with all the downvotes on Steel? This was a funny prank. Everybody upvote Steel!!!
  7. If Szeth is under the personal tutelage of a Herald, it probably won't take that long for him to get a spren. Stones Unhallowed sounds like the main conflict of the book will be Szeth vs the Stone Shamans. If he can't surgebind or use a shardblade for most of the book, is there much he can do against honorblade-wielding shamans?

    Destroy Evil

Yeah, I see your point. I still feel like there should have been something that was obviously evil to prompt the scholars to create a blade to destroy evil.
  9. Jezrien said "have you seen me" when Szeth was near the statues of the heralds. My guess is that Jezrien found the portrayal of himself humorous for some reason.
  10. Oldblood: Don't lie. You had to look it up on Coppermind too.

  11. What I've been wondering is, if somebody stored one form of investiture in their nicrosilmind, could they pull a different kind out? Or would you have a bunch of different ones, like how Sazed had different tinminds for each sense? One nicrosilmind for stormlight, one for breath?

    Destroy Evil

No evidence at all. It just makes sense to me that there would be evil things to destroy if they wanted to destroy evil. With fantastic powers and a horrible war, I think it's very possible for there to have been monsters.
  13. Cobalt Guard: We will protect the Kholins with our lives, because there really isn't anything else we can give in defense of a storming SHARDBEARER.

  14. I'm totally doing it. This is my first year. I am scared. But I'm going to do it. Are any of you at BYU? I want to start a new writing group. My group from last year sort of disappeared after we went home for the summer.
  15. Hi Erin! I'm Aaron. Welcome! How did you find out about the cosmere?
  16. Here's a thread for discussing anything you think will happen in the next Stormlight Archive book. Jezrien's Honorblade: The Kholins are in Urithiru and now have Jezrien's honorblade. Since Dalinar, Renarin, and Shallan all have surges of their own to practice, and Navani is busy making fabrials, I think they will let Adolin use the honorblade. The Stone Shamans are supposed to get the honorblade back. I doubt they expect anyone to freely give up an honorblade. My guess: they will come armed with at least one other honorblade. Adolin's Fate: Since killing Sadeas in cold blood, Adolin will attempt to keep it a secret for a while. Whether he eventually admits to it or someone else uncovers the truth, it will eventually come out into the open. His father won't be happy with him, but he will defend his actions, and the little voice in his head will agree with him. He will begin to manifest traits of becoming a Releaser. Roshone: After watching Kaladin's long struggle to trust lighteyes, I'm ready to see him forgive the heck out of somebody. Parshendi: Eshonai will somehow figure out how to avoid transforming into a voidbringer. She will begin to search for parsh who haven't been changed to build up a secret resistance. Maybe Rlain will join her. Separately, Venli will continue to lead the odious parshendi. Interludes: I expect to see another Rysn interlude, showing off another part of the world we know nothing about. Maybe New Natanatan or Rall Elorim. (Actually, we probably won't learn about Rall Elorim until Lift's flashbacks in the back half of the series.) Speaking of Lift, in the recent interview with buzzy mag, Brandon said we can expect more awesomeness in the next Stormlight Archive book. Yay, Lift! I'm hopeful for a Rock viewpoint. When Axies hears about the strange spren surrounding the Voidbringers, I doubt he will be able to keep his curiosity at bay.
  17. Honorblades. I believe that part of Szeth's punishment was to be a weapon. If the honorblade they gave him could be used productively and charitably, it wouldn't have been much of a punishment. This cancels out progression (healing the sick) and transformation (soulcasting food for the hungry). This eliminates the Elsecaller, Lightweaver, Truthwatcher, and Edgedancer blades.
  18. I hope that Szeth gets a spren besides Nightblood, just so we can hear Nightblood arguing with the spren all the time. Imagine a spren with a Wyndle-like personality trying to deal with "Let's kill them. I'm good at killing. I don't think we should sneak. I think we should just kill them."
  19. Sell. Nazh was born on Threnody. Sometime during the Stormlight Archive, Kaladin will use his gravitation and atmospheric powers to travel to one of Roshar's moons.
  20. Well, there's nothing quite like the Stormlight Archive. But if you want another epic fantasy with lots of characters, deep worldbuilding, and a depth of history, I would recommend Wheel of Time. It's fantastic. Edit: also, welcome to the forum, Miserab1e! Have an upvote.

    Destroy Evil

0wned. Personally, I think that Kalad was trying to appear masculine for Shashara. He didn't want to suggest that they give it the command "Pick flowers," because then she would think he was weird. Also, it would have resulted in too many vaporized flowers. In all seriousness, though, I think there were demons roaming the countryside. I think there were horrible, abominable monsters that deserved to be destroyed. Now that the obvious evil is gone, Nightblood has to figure out what qualifies as evil among humankind.
  22. I haven't read Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell yet, but I heard that the people on Threnody don't have innate investiture. Is this true?
  23. Nightblood consumes investiture when drawn. First he will eat up all your extra breaths, then he will eat your divine breath (if you have one), and finally he will consume the investiture that makes up your soul. Then you will be dead. But the thing is, drabs don't have innate investiture. So if a drab held Nightblood, what would happen? Would the drab survive? Would Nightblood run out of batteries and fall asleep? Or would something weirder happen?
  24. Of course, there's also the theory that Braize is Yolen, and that Hoid watched it crumble and burn to get what he needed.
  25. Nope not Axies. My drooling drunk comment comes from two places. First, in the Szeth prologue, he encounters a drunk man who might be Jezrien: A man with a long grey and black beard slumped in the doorway, smiling foolishly--though whether from wine or a weak mind, Szeth could not tell. "Have you seen me?" the man asked with slurred speech. He laughed, then began to speak in gibberish, reaching for a wineskin. So it was drink after all. Also, we have this comment from Nale, near the end of the Lift interlude: "Praise Yaezir," he said. "Herald of Kings. May he lead in wisdom. If he ever stops drooling."
