You're misinterpreting the context in which he said this. This was at Salt Lake Comic Con. I asked him which world the kandra worldhopper was on, and he said "You have seen her before". He was saying that she appeared in a published book, but he wasn't going to reveal which one. This neither confirms nor denies that she could be MeLaan. Another thing to think about is that MeLaan was still on Scadrial within a couple decades of Alloy of Law. She converted Waxillium to Pathism. Also, to the people who are wondering about Nazh, Nazh is from Threnody, not Scadrial.

I think we all know where Legion gets his nickname. In the Bible, Jesus encounters a man who is possessed by a large number of evil spirits. They say to him, my name is Legion, for we are many. Before modern medicine and political correctness, some cultures believed that mental illnesses were caused by evil spirits. Here's the theory: Before Sandra found him, Leeds was the smartest person in the world, but he also couldn't function. He had practically every mental illness known to man. Somehow, Leeds was able to give away his afflictions to his aspects, but it also required giving away his intelligence. Now he isn't skilled at anything, but he also isn't insane. If he tries to make an aspect that is too smart or has too many skills, it will also have more trouble functioning. When Audrey was just a handwriting specialist, she had an interesting psychosis, but she got along fine. Now that she is also skilled in cryptology, she clashes with the other aspects and thinks that nothing will happen if JC shoots her. If Leeds tried to create one aspect with all the skills, it would also have all the disorders. It might have to come up with its own aspects to help it get by.

Legion: Skin Deep is out! (As of almost a day and a half ago. :P)
Newan replied to Aonar's topic in Other Stories
I really enjoyed Skin Deep. However, there was one thing that kind of frustrated me. We got to hear mentions about some really awesome cases (zombies, teleporting cat), and this case turned out being pretty mundane. The body wasn't stolen for nefarious purposes. The ability to infect people with cancer wasn't actually real. The information stored in the body wasn't even important enough to make it into the book. I get why it happened. In a story this short, the focus needs to stay on Legion, and the developments in his condition. But I kept expecting to see something really crazy happen (besides the stuff in the mind of the crazy person), but it never did. -
Steelheart would make a great movie, and Legion would be a pretty cool tv show. As far as cosmere stuff goes, I think that most of his books could be turned into movies, but they would have to be heavily watered down (except for The Emperor's Soul). If I got a cosmere tv show, I would want to see original content that was created with the medium in mind. Wouldn't it be cool to see a tv show that takes place in the Roughs? Or maybe one on Threnody? A Stormlight Archive tv show would be absolutely amazing, but it would require a budget the size of Alethkar. I hope to see it someday, but I doubt that day will come soon. Maybe in a couple of decades. I hope they never adapt Alcatraz. The best part of those books is the ridiculous narration, and I just don't think it would translate over to film.

I think he climbed the tree, then sat very still and waited for the fronds to come back out.

Mid-Range Game 4: The Alethi War of Unification
Newan replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Newan blew on the tiny ember until the tinder caught on fire. He had piled brush around a large pole, and hung a rope from the top. As the fire grew, Newan stood on a stool, tied the rope to his belt, and kicked the stool away. He didn't stay upright, but the rope held. The fire grew. He was suspended sideways a few feet from the ground. This time. This time I will be in true mortal danger, and I will become a Knight Radiant! BOOM! Thunder. Storms! He had forgotten to check the weather forecast. Rain started falling. The fire sizzled and died. The plan hadn't completely failed, though. Newan was still in danger. A highstorm would work even better than a fire! Suddenly, a huge boulder was thrown forward by the storm and broke the pole off at it's base. Newan fell to the ground. No! I'm not safe yet! This pole is too big for me to lift, and I'm tied quite securely! Come on, surges! I definitely need some surges to get out of this situation. Through the heavy rain, Newan saw the outline of a large shape walking toward him. As it got closer, Newan saw that it was his pet chull, Nohadon. "No, Nohadon! Shoo! Go away! Daddy doesn't need you right now!" Nohadon grabbed the piece of wood with his claws and started walking toward the stables, dragging Newan behind him in the mud. "No!" Newan yelled. "Bad chull! Let me go! I want to be in danger!" Newan clawed at the ground vainly as the chull dragged him inside, safe from the storm. Newan sighed. "Thank you, Nohadon. You're a good chull." The chull made an affectionate noise. Newan wasn't a very good Envisager. All of his attempts to put himself in mortal danger had failed miserably. He would be a terrible Knight. If he couldn't even injure himself, how was he going to injure others? The Last Desolation was coming, but Newan would be absolutely useless in battle. Then a thought occurred to him. "Nohadon, I've got it!" Newan exclaimed. "I'm going to join the army! There's sure to be some danger there!" Newan, the failure Envisager, is enlisting.- 611 replies

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Newan replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
You know you're a Sanderfan when you refuse to refer to your roommate's cremlings as "hermit crabs". That's just ridiculous. They're obviously cremlings. -
If a Squad Leader gets a shardblade, does he become an Officer? Or does it have the same abilities, but can also send the PM to the GM for the Blackthorn vote? Can a shardblade be used every cycle, or just once? It says if somebody with a shardblade dies, it goes to the Blackthorn. What does he do with it? Does it just disappear from play? Is there any way to discover a spy besides his death or a very lucky Watchman?

I guess... But she is Mraize's babsk, and Mraize seems like a thoroughly bad dude. It just doesn't seem likely to me.
-
Yeah, but Ilyatil doesn't seem like she would be carrying out Harmony's orders.
-
It's not Gaz. I asked Brandon, and he said Gaz is still Gaz. Also, Brandon said that the kandra worldhopper is an agent of Harmony. And she's female. I think that technically a female kandra could still take the form of a man, but my guess is that we're looking for a girl. So I doubt it is Felt or the man who refers to himself as Taln.

Welcome! If you want to get to know a lot of us, and you like the game Mafia (or Werewolf, or Elimination, or whatever), you should check out the Sanderson Elimination forums. It's mafia, set in a Sanderson world. Tons of fun.

The God Beyond is an entity that is worshiped on multiple shardworlds. Here is a coppermind page about it. In the spirit of covering my bases, here are some other things it could be: The God Beyond is a planet. The God Beyond is an entity in the cognitive realm, formed by the collective hopes of humanity across the cosmere. The God Beyond is a character who is weak now, but later becomes powerful and travels back in time. The God Beyond is the ugly lizard crab thing. The God Beyond is Brandon Sanderson himself. The God Beyond is Peter's sideburns. The God Beyond is Calamity. The God Beyond actually doesn't exist. It's just a coincidence. The God Beyond is the physical embodiment of Kobold King's rep. The God Beyond is a spaceship full of dragons. The God Beyond is Bela.

I'd bet that we will eventually have other authors writing in the cosmere, like how Frank Herbert and Kevin J Anderson are writing in the Dune Universe. Maybe even before Brandon (may he live forever) dies.

I found something! http://brandonsanderson.com/upcoming-events/#7005 It says that there will be a US tour for the Firefight release, and that more details are coming soon.

They were all turning on him. They had always been unsettled by his presence. Maybe choosing the bones of a whitespine hadn't been the best of ideas. Then again, it had its benefits. Without the strength and agility this body provided, NuWin never would have been able to catch Heron, crush his body, then stab him over and over again until his metalminds ran out. Newin hadn't taken any of Heron's spikes. It would have given away the fact that a hemalurgic construct was the perpetrator. But he had helped himself to the man's bendalloy. Ever since being banned from Scadrial by the other kandra, NuWin's bendalloy spike had been useful only as a metalmind for the power granted by his pewter spike. You can't burn one of your spikes. But now he had bendalloy to spare. "Before you all team up and try to kill me," NuWin growled, "there's something I've always wanted to try." NuWin suddenly felt very hungry as he quickly started storing food energy in the large chunks of bendalloy he had swallowed.

Ashiok, there is another renegade. If Hoid already has him, and you kill me, you aren't going to be able to lynch them all in time.
