  1. When you got really mad when this lady called it "The Mistborn Saga" THIS AIN'T TWILIGHT, CREMBAG! DO YOU EVEN READ BOOKS? I know I'm overreacting but it's just so UGH
  2. I think this would be awesome, but I don't think it's going to happen. I think that there is too much risk of Vasher stealing the spotlight in a series where he isn't the main character. People who don't know Warbreaker would be confused.
  3. You can't create me!
  4. Hahahahaha yes! upvote
  5. This makes sense, but then why could the Inquisitors use their allomancy to see?
  6. Ugh it's been too long since I've played Elimination. But nanowrimo is about to start, and this is my first year doing it. Probably better conserve my free time, right?
  7. I wish there was a rep level called Ugly Lizard Crab Thing

    1. Jo and the Bush

      Jo and the Bush

It might eventually be a Negatiive Level. Ask Chaos about it.

  8. Newan

    Statlin/Satren

Probably. It's less likely that it is an in-world error. or maybe Ruin changed it to confuse him! dun dun DUN
  9. I wonder if Wax has met Jak. Wax probably thinks Jak is a total chull.
  10. "I made a note to myself to speak with Ranette about her heel contraption and its tendency to open unexpectedly." Is this the same Ranette from Alloy of Law?
  11. Buy, It would be cool if the mysterious "opposing force" that shattered Adonalsium and still exists turns out to be our good friend Wit. Some time during the Wax and Wayne books or during the modern trilogy, somebody will shoot a bullet through an allomancer and into their friend during a climactic moment. Hemalurgic bullet, awww yeeeeeah
  12. I was never convinced she was dead. Same with Syl and Eshonai. The only return to life in the book that really surprised me was Szeth. Personally, I feel like four comic book deaths in one book is a little much, especially since the only real deaths (of named characters who weren't bad guys) were an interlude character, a bridgeman, and Adolin's horse. However, there was so much awesomeness in that book that I am totally willing to overlook it.
  13. Woah I'm a Gyorn now. That's pretty cool, man. There are only like 20 of those. Except there are probably way more than 20 gyorns on this site.

  14. Hey guys. Sorry for double-posting, but I felt like this post was separate enough from the previous to warrant it. I'd like to announce that AonarFaileas is co-GMing the Twinborn game with me! It's going to be awesome. Everyone please go find one of his posts and upvote it. Also, today I thought of a quick fix game, so I would like to be added to the QF GM list. Don't worry. This one isn't insane like the Twinborn game. Sadly, it does not have a map and everything. Quick Fix: The Pits of Hathsin Edit: formatting.
  15. Yeah that might be true. We know that the Lord Ruler modified people to survive being around so much ash. Maybe he modified them to survive having more metal in their bodies as well. But it does seem like a stretch. Perhaps all of those ions are allomantically active, but each of the atoms act as a separate anchor. That way you could still see them with allomancy, but they would be terrible to push off of. I wonder about the relationship between mass of metal and the ability to push off of it. We know that it's difficult to lurch someone's vials because the metal in it is in tiny flakes. Is it easier to pull on one chunk of metal than it is to pull on a pile of flakes of that metal with equal mass? Is it easier to push on one chunk of sodium than it is to push on an equal amount of sodium atoms, dispersed evenly through a salt crystal?
  16. Does anyone want to help me GM the Twinborn game? It's going to be a very fun game. There are lots of powers. There are fun items. There is a map. The problem with all of this is that if I GM it alone, there will be a huge turnover time between the action deadline and the writeup. I am prepared to do it alone, even if it drives me stark raving mad, but I think it will be more fun for the players if they don't have to wait so long. Besides, it will be super fun to GM! With all of these powers, the writeups will be very fun to write. We can take turns doing the writeups and we can work together to balance the spreadsheet in Google Docs. I already have the spreadsheet ready. It has a map and everything. There are a couple issues to work out before the game starts. The greatest of these are making the backstory better, and figuring out which factions need which powers. It's ok though! As of this moment, I am still #4 on the waitlist. So we have plenty of time. Please send me a message if you are interested. It's going to be fun!
  17. I think that if Brandon released the next Mistborn book as Shadows of Self: A Cosmere Novel, that it would be hurtful to sales. Mistborn already has loyalty, and people might be confused by the Cosmere part. But I don't think this is nearly as much as a worry with Sixth of the Dusk for three reasons: Sixth of the Dusk is blatantly cosmere. It repeatedly mentions people from space. Anybody who didn't already know about the cosmere will probably be interested to find out where those people come from, rather than confused by a mention that this story is part of a larger universe. This one's debatable, but I think that most people who buy Sixth of the Dusk probably already know about the cosmere. Besides Writing Excuses listeners and a few other lucky folks, the people who hear about this tiny release are going to be those who already hang on Brandon's every word. Being part of the cosmere makes us (the cosmere aware) want to buy it. I don't have an e-reader, so I rarely buy ebooks. I haven't read the Infinity Blade books because I just don't like reading things on my phone. But I did buy Mitosis, because it is part of the Reckoners series, and if I hadn't already bought Shadows Beneath, I would buy the Sixth of the Dusk ebook simply because it's cosmere. Obviously I don't know much about book sales, marketing, or economics, but those are the reasons "A Cosmere Novella" makes sense to me.
  18. I believe that a coinshot could push on pure sodium, but could one steelpush salt? Can steel and iron allomancy effect compounds with metals in them, or just pure metals? Inquisitors can see trace amounts of metal in people. They could be seeing the ionic compounds, or maybe they are only seeing the tiny amounts of pure metals. Allomancy works because the shapes of the molecules in the metals act as a gateway to the power of Preservation, similarly to how the Aons from Elantris can access the Dor. We have word that the planet chooses how the magic system manifests, but I think (not sure on this one) that Brandon has also said that since ascending, Sazed could change which metals powered which powers. Because of this, I don't know if Scadrial or Leras originally chose the sixteen allomantic metals. As far as we know, steelpushing and ironpulling can effect any kind of metal except aluminum and some of its alloys. If you can't push or pull on an alloy of aluminum, this means that the force isn't acting directly on the metal atoms. For example, if duralumin is allomantically inert, it shows that the force must act on the compound, or else you would still be able to push on the 4% copper in the alloy. My theory is that an allomancer can only push or pull on pure metals and alloys. The compounds that can be pushed or pulled were chosen by Scadrial or Leras. An allomancer cannot push or pull on an ionic compound because even thought they have metals in them, they are not metals.
  19. JRR Tolkien Power: Can create alternate universes with his mind. Weakness: It takes him multiple decades to do so. Edit: Another one! Rasputin Power: Cannot be killed. Weakness: The only liquid he can drink is Vodka. (For those who do not know about Rasputin, he was a Russian monk in a cult that had some very interesting beliefs about morality. After he started gaining influence over the Czar's wife, a group of aristocrats tried to assassinate him. They poisoned, beat, and shot him, and yet he still didn't die. Finally, they wrapped him up in a rug, chained him up, and threw him into a river, where he ingested non-Vodka water and drowned.)
  20. I'm a High Prelan now. What I'm wondering is, is there a low prelan? How about a medium prelan?

  21. I chose Subsumer so I could go to a buffet, eat for hours, then not have to buy food for the rest of the month. Why yes, I am a college student. Why do you ask?
  22. Wikipedia said that Aztlan could have been in what is now northwestern Mexico or southeastern US. Soooo... does that relate to the cave paintings mentioned in the book?
  23. Secret Societies: 1) New Radiants 2) Ghostbloods 3) The Diagram 4) Skybreakers 5) Sons of Honor 6) Worldsingers 7) Veristitalians 8) Stone Shamans 9) 17th Shard 10) Envisagers 11) Heralds 12) Oldbloods Yeah, I know this is kind of a stretch. The 17th Shard isn't strictly Rosharan, Oldbloods are more of an ethnicity, the Heralds are too few to be a society, the Envisagers are probably obsolete, and the Stone Shamans aren't exactly secret. But hey, it's close enough.
  24. If I was going to set up my trusted lieutenant as a god, I would first make sure he had a piece of metal in his neck that I could instantly kill him with.
  25. I have a question: If a Brandon Sanderson Club were to be founded at BYU, would anyone be interested in joining? We could meet every couple of weeks to discuss the books, throw theories around, show off fan art, and, most importantly, make chouta. Yum. We could plan awesome events and invent cosmere-themed games and stuff. Who's with me?
